Assuming Miller isn't on any PEDs (and that's a big assumption regardless of testing), he has a heck of an engine to keep that pace.
I'm sure the size made a difference however Pero never seems to be in proper conditioning and he just couldn't handle the physicality and pace that Miller set for that fight. Entertaining to watch.
Savage knockout. Madueno normally a durable guy but I think the mileage has caught up to him. Sanches looks to be the real deal with that family power. I remember watching Alan's uncle fight One Time Thurman...Diego had a menacing nature about him and Alan fights with a similar menace.
Boxing has always attracted dubious characters and associations with organized crime. Kinahan wasn't the first and he won't be the last.
Boxing needs serious reform, oversight and a central regulatory body. That won't solve everything but it would be a step in the right direction.
I was looking forward to the fight even though I haven't seen many entertaining Okolie fights. When Okolie was pulled was thinking perhaps Hughie Fury or Davide Adelaye might be a replacement. Instead cancellation.
I followed his entry into the professional ranks and was impressed with the stoppage wins over guys like Duhaupas and Allen. It was the Hammer fight where I saw red flags, Hammer is a durable guy but Yoka seemed flustered by Hammer's mauling tactics. As I recall, Yoka wanted the Hrgovic fight but he had already agreed to the Bakole contract.
The results of that fight wasn't surprising. Yoka, is big, athletic and has skills but seems to wilt when he faces resistance or adversity. I'm sure there are other factors that have created issues (as he alludes to in this article). I wish him luck, it would be nice to see him get back to relevance in the heavyweight division.
I'm an American, been a boxing fan for 40+ years and Chisora is one of my favorite fighters all time. Can't really explain it because I liked him when he was the villain spitting water in the face of his opponent and I like him now that he's a fan favorite.
War Chisora!
I've seen too many fights that ended tragically but a few stick out more than others.
I remember watching the Beethaeven Scottland vs George Khalid Jones fight back in 2001. That was heartbreaking, Scottland was a late replacement who came up in weight to.fight Jones. The fact the fight was held on an aircraft carrier affected the quick response by medical services.
Another one I watched that comes to mind was the Magomed Abdusalamov fight against Mike Perez in 2013. That was an extremely violent fight.
Lastly, the Maxim Dadashev vs Subriel Matias fight is another that I remember watching live.
In all of these fights, there was a sustained beating although they weren't all necessarily gross mismatches. In all of them, it seemed like the medical response after the fight ended was less than stellar. Incredibly sad.
Do not know anything about Pero. I am interested...
I've seen him fight a few times. Not terribly impressed to be honest. I think he has some power and some skills but fights very lethargic in my opinion. His biggest win was against Faust and Faust was nearly stopped by Kiladze IIRC.
Very promising news. I was fearing the worst and am relieved to hear this. I hope there is a GoFundMe or something set up to help her out. I will be looking for one.
I had questions about how much Frank has left in that body of his and the integrity of that knee before this news ...Richard may be getting a very washed up, immobile version of the Cuban Flash.
Glanton will bring power, aggression and a historically decent chin. There's a big difference in skills. Opetaia win clear decision or gets the later stoppage.
Regis was getting jelly -legged from very pedestrian looking punches from Catterall. He's completely shopworn and his punch resistance is compromised. Definitely concerned for him, especially since Benn will likely juiced...or I mean "egged" to maximum levels.
Didn't these two fight before? If I recall correctly it was a snooze fest that Shields cruised to victory in. I also thought these two were friends.
Oh well, anything to generate buzz for a non-buzzworthy fight.
Interesting card put on by Zuffa. That Ajagba/Martin fight will likely be boring until (perhaps) it's not. Ajagba went from feared power puncher to patient boxer as the competition level rose. Martin carries heavy hands but sometimes seems reluctant.
I could see Ajagba winning quiet rounds by boxing Martin who will do enough to just barely lose the rounds. I could also see Martin catching Efe leaving his head stationary too long in an exchange and hurting the big Nigerian.
I will go Ajagba by close decision.
Ahmed Elbiali used to be a staple of the old ESPN Friday night fights. The heavy punching Egyptian. He engaged in absolute war with Pascal. Haven't heard much from him since. I don't have Paramount+ but I'm kinda tempted to sign up for a month to watch this card.
This will be maximum violence. DDD can punch through pretty much anything that stands in front of him. Wardley isn't much of a boxer but he may hit harder than anyone else around. He puts people to sleep and rearranges their faces with one punch.
I think Wardley has the edge in resilience. He believes in his power and his ability to land it against anyone. So long as he has his senses, he will continue to try and win.
Nicky was a solid boxer and great kickboxer. He showed his resilience in the Smith fight and the skills were apparent but he didn't have the power to keep Callum off of him.
It looked like certain elements were staged. To me eye, it seemed like AJ wasn't throwing at times that he could have and when he did throw, it often looked like he was pulling his punches. Whether there was a script or AJ is really just that shopworn, it was awful.
Pulev is way past his prime but he has always been a tough fellow with a good jab. Gassiev has had some injuries and layoffs, good result to spark Pulev out.
Seldin seems like a real shady character. I remember when he was hyped a bit after beating down a few shopworn names. I think it was HBO aired a few of his fights and then Yves Ulisses boxed his ears off and showed Cletus' limited skills in the ring.
Mercado looks good. He has excellent foot and hand speed and whips long range punches with power.
Gabe Flores is tough and game but my goodness, he couldn't crack an egg. When Gabe reaches a certain level, his lack of pop really hurts him. Venado, Cabrera and Cordina all just walked through his punches and unloaded their own on him.
Sadjo is no easy out. He's durable, relentless and hits very hard. Pacheco didn't look great but he showed heart and did enough to win. He can work on his footwork and improve and look better in his next fight. Diego has fought some awkward and dangerous guys recently and he's won them all clearly.
