How was Floyd looking for an unfair advantage? On the All Access episode where this came up, Floyd distinctly said, "put him in the same sh1t I'm wearing." That sounds like as even a to playing field as it can be. Not talking about you personally. But this glove issue is exposing a lotta these cats doing all the complaining as newbies or just extremely biased. Because up until very recently, the last 5-10yrs or so, pretty much every commission mandated that both fighters had to wear the same size and brand of gloves. The biggest examples that come to mind are Floyd-DLH and Morales-Pac I. DLH made Floyd wear 10oz Reyes, where Floyd prefers Grant. Floyd was also made to wear gloves designed for heavyweights, which is why they were damn near at his elbows. Same situation happen in Jones-Ruiz. Ruiz objected to the Grants Roy wanted to wear, which matched his outfit and were made to fit his hands more comfortably. Roy ended up having to wear some designed for heavyweights, which is why they were damn near at his elbows. And in Morales-Pac I, Pac was forced to wear Winnings, instead of his preferred Reyes. This thing with gloves isn't new. It was only an issue because the commissions changed their rules to let boxers wear their perfected brand. Well, that and people lose all sense of rational when it comes to Floyd. But like I said, not too long ago Maidana wouldn't even have had an option because it was always the choice of the house fighter or defending champion which gloves both fighters were gonna wear.

Floyd get advantages in every single fight by picking the time & place to the battle, picking ring size and the type of gloves that suits his style of boxing (boxers gloves rather than punchers gloves).

Let me preface this by saying I am A fan of BOXING! I find myself defending Mayweather more then any other boxer. Its truly amazing how much hate some of you people have for one man you dont even know.
Anyway lets start with some education. It is not illegal to use your forearm as a defense or to push off to create space. It is however illegal to use your forearm as a strike, pressed against the neck or the face. Excessive holding is illegal, however Mayweather holds one arm which allows his opponent a free arm to work with. Tony weeks allowed Maidana to work the free arm for a few seconds then split the fighters up which is what should be done, and he would probably have let Maidana work a little more if it wasnt for all the low blows,hip blows,and rabbit punches that Maidana was throwing in those situations. Generally because the fighter has a free hand to work it is not considered excessive holding, and Maidana shot himself in the foot by choosing to fight dirty in those moments.
The Gloves. For all the people who act like they have some kind of smoking gun. The blue Gloves that the commission agreed were illegal, Garcia continued to defend those gloves even after they were proven to be insufficiently padded, Why?. Mayweather did not want them using the same style of gloves. When Mayweather fought Cotto, after the weigh in trainer Naazim Richardson noticed that the gloves Canelo was going to wear against Mosely had the thumb stitched to the fist and covered with patent leather. Naazim pointed it out to the commission and the commission agreed the gloves were illegal. Canelo could not use the gloves. Now guess who else was supposed to use those same gloves. Thats right Mayweather. And guess who had to have a different style of Grants flown in the following day, thats right Mayweather. But most of you dont know this because you dont really know what your talking about.
Its only a controversy because you hate Mayweather but glove disputes happen all the time in boxing and the fighter usually has to use a completely different style of glove. And lets be real Maidana couldnt even hit Mayweather cleanly as he even admitted himself so what good would those gloves have done other then cut Mayweather from the grazing blows of an insufficiently padded glove.

I say as many other boxing fans will also say he avoided the fight. Joe was even considering it and wanted it to happen before the Lockett fight.

Canelo vs Cotto will sell more than any Mayweather fight on the same day, unless it is Mayweather vs Manny. lets not forget that most of PPVs Mayeather sold were against Mexican fighters, Floyd would lose lots of money having to split PPV buyers with the top Mexican fighter.

Maidana does hit harder than Marquez, but it took Marquez more than 40 rounds to land the perfect punch, plus the help from Manny by jumping into the punch himslef ... other wise Manny has a solid chin as he got cought by huge punches before by Barrera, Morales, Cotto, Margarito ...
so here is what you need to knock out Manny:
1- an A+ counter puncher (Marquez or Mayweather).
2- very good puncher (Mayweather has glass hands that do break often + no KOs in 7 years lol)

so in reality only Marquez, and he needs about 40 rounds of counter punching and waiting for Manny to do the same mistake, AGAIN!

However based and his last performance against Canelo i will reserve my Judgement on Floyds age untill the next fight. I've seen him fight for most of his career and i believe he could have won the fight very easy. If you listen to the corner during the fight Sr. wasnt telling him to box every round like he usually does. so I do believe the fight plan was to go toe to toe, which for somebody with the kind of boxing knowledge of Mayweather, was a very stupid choice. Also Mayweather has always fought off the ropes during his fights. If you tube you can pick up a bunch of videos where Floyd is languishing on the ropes slipping punches. I reserve judgement on his age and conditioning. primarily because he doesnt get hit, and hes always training. so we have to wait and see.

for Maidana: can't use approved punchers gloves, can't pick a small ring ... and those do not count big with me so not to worry.
at the end and considering all: the Mayweather I know should have won 11 or 12 round considering everything .. same thing goes for Paquiao .... failing to do so is a big deal and not a good one.
all and all guys forget Maidana, he looks improved but he will lose 2 or 3 of his next 5 fights (if big fights).
the main thing here is that Mayweather is on his last steps, he is not the same and he is ready to lose .... he can pick strong slow guys and make it last longer like all his last fights (Maidana, Alvarez, Guarerro, Cotto, Ortiz) and making sure to avoid good boxers. and to be more honest he really avoids African American boxers. cuz last one he fought was an old man that almost knocked him out in two rounds before getting dead tired in the 3rd round onwards (Mosley) and the only other one to really hurt him was D.Corley, also an African American boxer.
