Just cause you probably have a better looking body then his doesn't mean you're in better shape. Don't judge a book by its cover. The way his body looks can also be genetics.
James has trained with World class wrestlers (Mo Lawal) and BJJ practioners (Dean Lister). I don't know why people are really writing this guy off. Randy Couture is older then JT and he hasn't looked impressive at all in his last couple of fights.
Couture is a Greco-Roman wrestler...Meaning he has to clinch up with JT. Randy likes to dirty box to set up his take downs but most likely it aint gonna work as well as people think. JT has a shorter and has a wider base. He's gunna rock Couture with uppercuts. Especially with the 4 oz. gloves.
Both Dean Lister and Mo Lawal have said JT is a lot stronger then he looks. Especially considering grapplers/wrestlers are some of the physically strongest athletes out there.
All this Boxing vs MMA is garbage. People on these forums complain about how MMA fanboys dont know shit about boxing but yet there doing the same thing by claiming MMA is gay. I absolutely dont support anything the MMA guys say that is insulting to boxing but if your going to talk shit about the sport at least study and gain knowledge from why they look like there "hugging and rubbing" each other on the ground.
A lot of MMA guys would make claims that boxing is gay every time there in the clinch and there "holding each other" and the boxing fans are saying the same thing about MMA except its rolling on the ground. Its pure ignorance from both sides. If you dont like it and you prefer boxing...Fine thats cool but dont insult something when your knowledge is limited in that certain sport. And it definitely shows for some of the people who post here.
ALL of my friends & bitches are into boxing. Anyone that comes around and talks MMA usually gets clowned on during our PPV gatherings and whatnot. It's just different strokes for different folks.
I'm not friends with one person that's into MMA. I don't know why that is just random chance or because I only kick it with like minded individuals perhaps.
And for the record I really did try to get into the UFC thing, I did. But no matter how much I watch I just cant buy into it. The whole presentation (heavy metal, 'fuuck yeah dude!'), the fights, etc., all of it, just not my cup of tea.
I agree with the whole heavy metal thing and the type of fans it brings in and I cant stand it either. But hey, at least you gave it a chance. Wasn't your thing...Thats cool.
I was the same. I used to do MMA, BJJ, Muay Thai and Judo and I used to find Boxing so boring and couldn't get into it until I actually went and tried it. Now that I've been training boxing a couple years, I appreciate it a whole lot more and actually follow it now.
The people who usually clown on something usually have no real knowledge of it or have never even tried it. Thats why you got some guys calling it "MMGay", etc. These types of people are no different the MMA fanboys on Sherdog. The just the Boxing version of these people.
@all the folks callin Mayorga fat. 2 things
1)His fight aint until May 15th and the promo was probably shot before the start of training camp.
2) Y'all fail to realize that weight divisions in mma are different from the weight divisions in boxing.
And y'all laugh now but Mayorga's the 1 boxer i can actually see having a better career in mma than in boxing because of his upbringing and affinity for streetfighting.
Couldn't agree anymore. The divisions in MMA are very 15-20lbs. So him beefing up is a good thing considering u gotta use it more within the clinch and grappling. He's gotta real thick neck to. Hope that help's him defend the chokes.

On these forums Gamboa is the one that seems overrated. Nobody is doubting his skill and talent but people made him out to be the greatest after whoopin' Mtagwa?
Gamboa looks great against a couple of can's and all of a sudden he'll destroy John. You guys are giving the guy waaaay to much credit. Sure he's a great athlete, very fast and has KO power but John will time him and outbox him in the majority of the rounds.
Gamboa might rock him here and there like Juarez did towards the end but John still has the experience over Yuri. Chris wont look great doing it but I think he'll bag the majority of the rounds over Gamboa.
dude had only 2 pro boxing fights...his debut fight was in 1998 and he got KOd in round 1 and then didnt have another Pro Boxing Fight untill 2005....then he retired...
At least he has tried professional boxing. He was never one of those MMA guys who claimed his sport was better then Boxing. Sure he has 2 fights but you got to admit he looks pretty smooth in there, good footwork. Sure, he's fighting a nobody but Boxing aint his first discipline.
His 2 fights in in Pro Boxing are more then what 95% on these forums have. People have claimed him to be arguably the best MMA striker so they want to try and translate that to Boxing. There are definitely not many athletes out there as versatile as this man. Currently a UFC champion, has fights in both Pro Muay Thai and Boxing and competes in BJJ/Grappling tournaments.
He's not a great boxer but he isn't a horrible one either.
I like Floyd Mayweather as a boxer and believe he has a better chance at beating Pacquiao but what the hell is 50 Cent doing joining this? He's talking about 'Steroid Pacquiao' when he himself looks roided up. He has pictures of himself with a bullet proof vest, holster and guns but who has she shot/killed? The guy is in a studio living behind a microphone and talks over a beat for a living...How 'gangsta' can he possible be?
