All fights start standing, homie. And it's MMA 101 to set your shots up now a days..
Randy will have to stand and box/kickbox for a bit to set up a shot or greco clinch.
These things aren't as linear as you guys make them up to be.. a lot of MMA fighters struggle with pure strikers/boxers in the cage because they often times can't set up their shots etc.
Wrong Wrestlers have always dictated where the fight happens. Tony can't dictate anything in this fight so yeah he's done and quick like.
I didnt' see him training for wrestleling and HE should count with being hugged as soon as the bell sounds. There will not be much boxing if Couture gets his way.
The only MMA fights where I have seen the boxer win is when the MMA fighter tries to prove a point by standing and trading. No way in hell is Randy going to do that on this big of a stage. Im rooting for James, but I think this ends early in the first. My only question is, will Randy tap him out right away or pound on him until they stop it? I do know as a fan of James from his prime days I wont be watching the video of whatever happens to him. The first time Randy takes him down the fight is over. Im still so pissed this is even happening in the first place. Now if Randy were to take up the offer of Boxing James at a later date, then I would be ok with it. Then I would know James would get to toy with Randy the same way Randy is about to toy with him.

Decent shape? I'm in 1000% better shape than that. Toney is gonna' get killed. His only shot is a ko.
I'm 1000% certain toney could outlast you in any endurance or strength activity.
Why do idiots like you assume a guys physique says everything about his conditioning.
Why do you guys keep talking about Coture fighting Tony in a boxing ring? It's not the same thing! MMA is a combat sport where "all" forms of attack are legal outside of biting, eye gouging, pulling hair, and groing strikes.
Boxing limits your method of attack since you can only throw punches and nothing else. Nobody is limiting Tony in his MMA debut. Tony to is free to kick, throw elbows, shoot for a take down, etc, etc. But in a boxing match Coture would be completely limited to just punching.
So no it's not the same thing guys so seriously grow the fuk up.
Toney has a chance. MMA is fighting at the end of the day. Toney is the best striker (with his hands) that UFC has ever had, that alone gives him a chance to win.
:bottle: :bottle: Toney is worth much more to history than Couture.
I hope "Lights Out" flattens that guy for symbolic reasons...I'm not concerned about what it 'proves' re. Toney's ability to roll on the ground grabbing balls and asscrack.
Thus proving my point.
*shrugs*
Its selfish that I want Randy to take the fight, but its more to prove (like you said) what we all already know. MMA guy wins MMA fight. Boxer wins in Boxing. But I respect what Randy has done and would never question his manhood for not taking the fight. It just shows that he lives in reality (unlike James.) You are also right that Toney talked tons of **** about MMA, but he has always talked tons of **** about everyone and everything. Didnt he call Wlad and Vitali the "Hitler Brothers" or something to that effect? And that basically everyone in Boxing is a ***** besides him? Its James. He talks ****. He wanted a payday and is about to embarrass himself and the sport.
Why should Couture accept a boxing match when he freely admitted he sucks at boxing?
Listen. It was Toney who wanted to fight in MMA. It was Toney who was pestering everyone for a match. He's finally getting his wish. But after that, he has no pull.
Goossen is trying to cover Toney's back if and when he fails. It's a stupid and outdated trap. If Randy accepts, he gets his ass kicked for a silly sense of pride and all you *******s be jumping for joy in vindication, ultimately proving nothing that we already know. If Randy doesn't accept, Toney and Goossen and all you idiot followers will freely and immaturely question Couture's manhood when has nothing left to prove then the obvious, making Toney look like the bigger man in the "boxing world".
In the end it's lose-lose for Randy and the only people getting satisfaction out of it are idiot boxing fanboys.
On the flip side you have to realize that a professional boxer or boxers have beaten professional mma fighters in the octagon before but a professional mma fighter has never beaten a professional boxer in a boxing match before. Tony has good chance. Its not like he's fighting a prime mma champ. I think he loses but he has a great chance to win and i wouldn't be surprised at all if he did win.

Here is why you write him off. Could Randy train for a few months with top boxers and beat James? No? Could he train for several years and beat James? No? Then James aint beating Randy just because he trained for a few months.

Just cause you probably have a better looking body then his doesn't mean you're in better shape. Don't judge a book by its cover. The way his body looks can also be genetics.
James has trained with World class wrestlers (Mo Lawal) and BJJ practioners (Dean Lister). I don't know why people are really writing this guy off. Randy Couture is older then JT and he hasn't looked impressive at all in his last couple of fights.
Couture is a Greco-Roman wrestler...Meaning he has to clinch up with JT. Randy likes to dirty box to set up his take downs but most likely it aint gonna work as well as people think. JT has a shorter and has a wider base. He's gunna rock Couture with uppercuts. Especially with the 4 oz. gloves.
Both Dean Lister and Mo Lawal have said JT is a lot stronger then he looks. Especially considering grapplers/wrestlers are some of the physically strongest athletes out there.

He trained with them for a week if not that.
If he was truly training with Mo and The Boogeyman, he wouldn't be hanging around a MacDojoist like Trevor Shurman.
This is the sad truth, but I gotta give it to Toney for even training at all. I was sure he was just gonna tank it.
