Watch Round 4 and Round 8 and you'll see an incredible display of ring generalship, boxing, counter punching, setting up your punches, feinting, accuracy, placement and everything a boxing fan would appreciate.
Hatton may have been an overrated monster created by the PBF hype machine to justify the fight, but it shouldn't take away from Floyd's masterful performance that night.
Watch Rd 4 and Rd 8 again, please. Forget it's PBF. If you are a true fan of the sport, you would enjoy it.
I do remember round 8 being fuckin brilliant, but i put it down to hatton getting tired and not putting as much effective pressure as before. i'll go watch round 4 again
I keep changing my mind on this fight cause i'll think of all the reasons why 1 will win and then change my mind when i think about how the other can win.
in pacs last 4 fights he hasnt really fought anyone slick when coming up to 147
clottey - punching bag apparently
Cotto - brilliant win in my opinion, probably his best but i think cotto lacked the swiftness and slickness to give pac trouble.
Hatton - good win, hatton there to be hit though, never expected him to take him out in that fashion though. impressed me alot with his power there.
ODLH - to light, not the same oscar mayweather fought. barely did anything.
boxers like jmm and morales gave pac the most trouble by boxing
with mayweather and his recent fights hatton is the closest comparison i can make to pac, and from what i could see hatton had him feeling uncomfortable.
i'll go watch round 4 of that fight again though.
Hatton-PBF was marred by clinches. Hatton lacks the power, speed, and accuracy of Pac. he may have taken 2 rounds in that fight. I don't see PBF stopping Pac either.
that it was, and i agree with you about pac. hatton was trying to work when in a clinch but it was pretty ineffective and sloppy really. that an cortez didnt let him fight "his fight" but i dont think it wouldve mattered at all. i think pac be much more effective if in same situation, but he doesnt clinch like hatton
and 2 rounds only? man depends how you like to score a fight i suppose, and in that fight floyd just threw 1 punch at a time for the most part, i myself like to see combinations. mayweather just liked to throw the single right hand cause it was landing but he was content with just that
If he tries to potshot with pacquiao i just dont think its gonna be enough to bank rounds with pac going a million miles an hour at him.
I watched that round 4 koboy and mayweather took over for the second half of the round definetly, i didnt think may kept it up the next couple rounds though. i dont know why cause he seemed to be pretty effective when on the attack, i dont know why he waited til round 8 to do it again.
2 different styles,Hatton likes to hold and shove alot while Pacquiao just comes in and throw fast awkard punches in bunches.Mayweather can Neutralize the punches in bunches by Holding to keep himself from being out worked in the corners.
And i noticed in the Cotto fight with Pac that Pac had problems cutting the ring off at times.Floyd has way faster footwork then Cotto.
Pac has poor defense and i think that`s one of the many things that`s gonna be his undoing if he fights Floyd.
some really good points here, you've changed my mind
i mustve mistaken hattons pressure for making mayweather look bad rather than the "hold and shove" style
I noticed that in the cotto fight aswell, mayweather didnt use lateral movement in the hatton fight until the last few rounds though, he seemed to like to go backwards.
If floyd can be aggressive with his counters against pac hes got it for sure, but floyd seems to be content throwing one at a time. take the ODLH fight for example, he was potshotting all night and that was scored pretty close amongst the judges. he better not do that against pac, pacs a busy fighter and if floyds not doing much pac will just bank those rounds by default almost with just workrate.
Pac is worlds better than Hatton. No comparison.
well thats sorta what im saying? pac is better, and from what i remember hatton had floyd feeling uncomfortable
but i can see some simularities between hatton and pacquiao, not dead on the same but things like both aggressive, like to put pressure on opponent, like to throw as many punches as possible
