You ask us as if we agree already with your stupid premise. It's not for science to explain religion.
Recent examples of boxers bringing up their gods in the ring include Andre Ward after the Kessler fight where he refers to the Christian faith and Anthony Small where he refers to the Muslim faith during the build up of his most recent fight. Of course Pacquiao is probably the most prominent boxer now who regularly refers to a god, again conditioned under the Christian religion.
With many religious precepts now debunked by science, more and more people are beginning to realize that all religions are likely to be purely superstition, with no real evidence to support them other than a collection of far-fetched stories which compare quite readily to any other work of fiction.
Is it time that boxers leave religion out of the ring for good?
Interesting interview on the "god delusion" psychological condition:
Pacquiao pretty much fights the same fight every single time..i dunno who the idiots are who voted no but manny CAREFULLY gets lined up with the proper pathetic past it versions of sitting ducks like hoya, hatton, cotto..morales did it..marquez did it..and now floyd gets his turn and boy he's gonna thrash pacquiao worse than those two did and thats sayin something cause both morales and marquez beat the living shit out of manny...pacquiao is the EXACT SAME FIGHTER he was when morales kicked his ass..the only difference is he moves his feet around alil bit more but he's still the same clumsy jackass that morales turned southpaw against..floyd will pick pac apart
I always laugh whenever someone says that Mayweather will "thrash", "beat the living shit" out of Pac. In truth, PBF can beat Pacquiao. That's a 50-50 proposition in my book. But "thrash"? "beat the living shit"? No way. When was the last time PBF beat the living shit out of anybody? Even Hatton was halfway decent until the last two rounds. Did PBF "beat the living shit" out of Oscar? No. Did PBF Beat "thrash" JMM? No.
So what makes you think that PBF could beat the hell out of Pac? He could out point him, yes. But "thrash"? "Beat the living shit"? Absolutely not.
dominates who???? feather fisted floyd cant even hurt jmm, and defenseless hatton makes round10, how can you say roach will gonna throw the towel at round 7?
exactly! I'd say PBF can beat Pac but I have no doubt that PBF cannot BEAT UP Pacquiao.
And for those who are saying that PBF won't get hit at all, Hatton was able to touch him, JMM was able to touch him. Sure they still lost but that just shows that PBF's defense isn't as impenetrable as peole think.
Great article.
Nah i have a feeling Floyd gona try pull some hasty shit off like he always does.
I think this is possible.. he'll say something was bothering him and he wants to move it to May, a date that ruins PAc's political plans altogether, putting him in a tough position.
why would ronnie still need to mention that nobody in donaire's family cals and ask about his wellbeing?that's a f***ing insensitive.
because Ronnie's a douchbag and he wants to play up the showbiz angle of in-family fighting.
Hey Ronnie! Let them resolve it on their own! We don't need to hear that shit. Maybe we could dig up some of your problems and make it a topic for discussion eh?
Dude, nobody's heard of this award before. They give the award to famous personalities so that their name will be associated with them. So that they will feel as if they are in the position to bestow honor or that the celebrity has satisfied their requirements or standards.
I'm kinda glad Pacquiao didn't attend. These people just want to feel important.
I repeat. It's an award that you wouldn't even use as a paper weight.
This is probably the first Ronnie Nathanielsz article I've ever seen that doesn't somehow mention Manny Pacquiao, and call him something a bit hyperbolic, like "World Champion and Hero of Asia, Manny Pacquiao!"
YEah thank God for that... Gotten tired of the "World Pound for pound King and National Hero of the Philippines..." spiel.
And if PAcquiao loses, it would only get longer because he would have to add the word "Former"
Obviously, Pac was just pulling Kimmel's leg when he said PacMan was his dog. So why are you taking it so seriously? I guess intelligence is a prerequisite to having a sense of humor.
Guys, didn't you watch the whole thing? Afterwards, he did say that he played it when he was a kid. He just didn't understand the way Jimmy described it initially (gobble gobble gobble).
And yes, he does have a dog named PacMan. It was on Episode 2 of Pac-Coto 24/7.
An Open Letter to Lyle Fitzsimmons
Hey Lyle,
How are you?
I have a question.
Why do you even write Lyle?
Seriously. I can name several posters here who are ten times better than you and have better understanding of the fight game than you. They analyze better, and they make better sense.
But you Lyle? You're a joke Lyle.
I remember one time you retorted, "I'm gonna write slowly so you'll understand". You said that Lyle. Your attempt to be witty just proved that you were dumb.
Oh Lyle.
At least get the facts straight. You said about Pacquiao: “Because the more he marches around saying he’s the best…”
Tell me Lyle. When did he ever say that he was the best? When? Can you link me to a youtube clip? How about a direct quote? Where Lyle?
It wasn’t always like this Lyle. I used to post your articles on twitter so that people could read your articles which I thought were great. I would even quote you sometimes Lyle when I’m discussing boxing with other people.
But what happened Lyle? You now write these terrible columns that are so completely biased that you might as well be any other poster in any message board. You’re actually worse than that now, Lyle. Look in the mirror. You’re a troll, Lyle.
I don’t want to fight you Lyle because I feel sorry for you. I don’t know you well but you’re acting like an old hag spinster who gets mad at pretty girls for having boyfriends. It’s pathetic Lyle.
Get well soon. I hope the real Lyle comes back because that one was good. While you, Lyle? You’re embarrassing.
Sincerely,
MaynMan
don't worry about my spelling bitch. try enjoying sucking pacs balls
TRY enjoying sucking balls? Hee hee. even your smack talk makes no sense.:blackeye:
I'm now a Carl Froch Fan just because he used the word "SMITHEREENS".
I haven't heard that since Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam and the other Looney Toons said it so I guess it just makes me smile.
Smithereens. Hee hee.:biggthump
There is no wrong in fighting co-Filipinos in the name and spirit of good sports! But just like Donaire Jr. quipped, there are still lots of good fighters out there before a Donaire-Sonsona becomes a reality! Sonsona is far better to match up with Darch before Donaire actually, though, too early for Sonsona to that match up.
And it's just natural for a trainer to give confidence to his pupil of busting any ass of his divisions, and the fighter should feel the same way without reservations, otherwise if the fighter lack confidence of beating one or two in his divisions then he don't have that will to impose as true champion! If Sonsona and his trainer believes that he can even beat Donaire who is respected to be the best on that weight divisions then that's great and they are in a possitive ascending! And that's what true champion feels!:boxing::boxing::boxing:
I didn't say that there was something wrong with it my friend. I meant the possibility of a Pinoy vs. Pinoy matchup in a title fight became much more of a reality because of their current wave of success. Ayt?
Once again: A Catchweight is used to even things out between two people who are not of the same weight class. People keep saying that Pac Is draining Cotto. That's not the damn case.
Pac is naturally 140. Cotto is Naturally 147. 145 is the Catchweight which should actually slightly favor Cotto because he's only two lbs. shy of the limit.
For those of you who keep demanding that Pac fight Cotto at 147, the flip side to that is why isn't Cotto fighting Pac at 140? Surprised eh? People keep saying that Pac is trying to tilt it in his favor. It's hilarious for me. He's a natural 140 right now!
Fitzsimmons: Do you get that???
I have very little problem with his statement.
Truth is, Pac's punches weren't meant to knockout or even knockdown. They were meant to hit DLH flush then get out before the 45s arrive.
The Hatton punch was a very calculated punch actually. It was almost like Pacquiao said: "Hey Ricky! Eat this!", then threw a fake right jab and followed it up with a shotgun left to the head. It was MEANT to knock out Hatton and it did.
The punches against DLH weren't meant to knock out or knock down DLH except perhaps some in the 7th. Ask any boxing writer (I did ask about three of them) and they would tell you that had Oscar come out in the 9th, he would've been knocked out.
My only problem is that in another interview, DLH said that he felt that he hurt Pac in the 1st Round. To say that and then say that you didn't get hurt at all after getting beaten up for 8 rounds is just a lie.
To Morales, the writer.
I disagree with the statement that Pac qasn't looking at Hatto when he knocked him out. If you watched it carefully, and I have stated this in another thread, it was a perfectly set up Knockout punch. It was a perfectly calculated punch meant to knockout Hatton and it did.
It was like Pacquiao said "Hey Ricky! Eat this!" then threw a fake right hand jab to distract him and followed it up quickly with a shotgun left to the jaw. It was perfectly set up.
Look. He didn't even throw a follow up punch. As soon as he hit him, he practically walked away.
And can we stop mentioning Pac's two KO's? come on... he got hit in the ribs and lost because he was malnourished and weight drained.
Yup. Shameless.
And they're angry??? Jeez. Can you believe these people? They are ANGRY at Pacquiao because Pac did not come to receive their PEACE prize! What kind of an Peace Award giving body gets ANGRY at their recepient??
That's just stupid.
Whatever
A lot of journalists already considered Pacquiao a Hall of Famer after beating Erik Morales in Pac-EMII.
PAC-EMII! So to say that he isn't a good boxer at all is just so stupid.
Fitzbitz
The comment saying "I tried to write nice and slow..." That comment only works as an insult when it's "I'm explaining or talking real slow so that you'll get it..." Otherwise you just sound like an idiot.
If you read my message, I never mentioned anything about the belts. Even though I think Cotto should still put it up since he practically got all his demands in already.
And if Cotto loses, can he still walk around saying that he's the WW Champ? Like I said, that's like claiming ownership over a burger using a receipt when someone else already ate it.
Why did Duran quit vs Sugar Ray Leonard? He wasn't hurt at that point, but was frustrated and was unlikely to win. Oscar was taking a beating, and already made his money. He lost a lot of respect and pride, but he was still getting paid top dollar.
I seriously don't see and similarities between Duran quitting and De La Hoya quitting.
As for the "getting paid top dollar" comment. I don't think any fighter, especially a fighter of De La Hoya's status and history, would be thinking about money at that point in time.
I sincerely believe that money doesn't cross their mind at that point.
No fighter goes, "Hmmm my money is guaranteed. I'll just sit down."
Fighting is brutal and brings out the most raw of emotions and money is basically inconsequential at that point.
Can people please stop saying "Pac better not take Cotto lightly! He's not just another opponent!"
HE KNOWS THAT YOU IDIOTS! HE'S A DAMN BOXER WHO FOLLOWS THE SPORT!
Some of you here are acting as if the fight is next week and Pac hasn't trained for one second. Forthe record, the fight is more than 2 MONTHS AWAY.
Pac knows he needs to train for around 8 weeks.
Pac knows his opponent is a great fighter.
Just calm down, people.
And for the record, Buboy is not a Yes Man. He already quit before when Pac wouldn't listen to him but Pac begged him to come back. If there's one person in Pac's corner who's after Pacquiao's best interest and best interest only, it's Buboy.
So at least give the guy some respect.
@mr. Reality
I just want to see your proof that MAB had a brain operation three weeks before the fight with Pacquiao. Really? Texas commission approved that a fighter who had brain surgery can fight 3 weeks after the operation.
I rarely post here but that's BS.
So PAc never won against anyone? So when he wins there's an excuse and when he loses, he's exposed? You know what? I'll take the word of all the experts, real experts, writers, journalists out there who agree that Pac is a great fighter. Oh and don;t bring up your "facts". I'm sure they have been considered by the experts.
You're BS.
