Didn't notice that myself if i'm being honest. I'll watch again to see.
But it was a bullshlt stoppage. I was shocked when the ref stopped it like that.
I'd of preferred the fight to go on and for a conclusive knockout.
But, I think the stoppage was spot on. AJ's body language was that he could take all the time he wants. Ref made sure he was in control.
It was just my immediate reaction watching live. I agree it could've just been gassing out.
I remember AJ did the same against Wlad, but at mid point in the round after being knocked down.
Lots of elements all together.
- Fight in the US
- Change of opponent
- Wilder situation
- Looking for a fast KO
There is always something though.....
Strange how AJ went backwards. He made the same mistakes he made against Whyte when he got caught. I don't think Mccracken's advice in the corner was the best. Asking him to keep busy when he needed to gather himself for a few rounds. Ruiz only had success when Joshua went in swinging.
Well Wilder has just shown why he ducks so much - If you cant be a champion and your whole career is full of lies because of taking a loss then, damn..... I'd duck too.
