Wasn't it weird that Martinez' legs appeared to loosen up as the fight went along?
Anyone else think he went a bit cold before the fight and then they warmed up again while he was fighting, perhaps?
I remember thinking to myself during the first round "Should this man have been allowed in the ring in this condition?"
Anyway, beautiful boxing by Cotto, I'm glad people can see his skills on display like that, I still think he's a bit underrated. But - he wasn't really against Martinez was he? He was against a crippled old man as far as I could see.
That punch that drop Martinez for the first time was the BIG issue for him in the fight and it look to me like it broke his ear drum and had him unstedy on his feet for some time.
Ah, was that the reason that his legs appeared to loosen up then as the fight went on? That would explain it, I guess.
Dunno. I think Floyd may frustrate him a little bit.
One thing's for sure though.
A prime Margarito is not the opponent you want to find yourself looking at across the ring unless you have multiple changes of underwear at hand and a doctor on standby.
I didn't think Murray was quite busy enough to win, by a hair's breadth. Just should have put in that extra 10% activity.
Did anyone else think that fight reminded them of Gatti/Ward stylistically?
My favourtie bit of boxing of the evening was from Judah in the 10th and 11th rounds of the Garcia fight.
Also, Garcia proved he can think a little and box with both hands etc. - not just a left hook wonder.
When Harrison went down (lol) the way Wilder was swinging at him was very wild and raw. I reckon he needs to tighten up that technique a bit. Almost fell over himself.
It was almost like he was trying to create a sort of Voodoo buzz with it (that could have been just the copious amounts of weed I was smoking) - but it came across more like having someone who'd escaped from the asylum and was having a psychotic episode accompanying him to the ring.
Floyd Mayweather :
