How many fighters out there didnt fight EVERYONE they should HAVE???
To discredit his accomplishments because he didnt fight this guy or that is ridiculous... read the sig.. it is what it is...
I would like to straighten out what has clearly been blown out of proportion.. I never stated that RJJ wasn't a great fighter. There is no doubt RJJ was and still is a great fighter.. I never, ever wanted to discredit his accomplishments. I have been enjoying his multinle talents for many years. I only stated that he doesn't belong on any list for greatest middlesweights ever and thought that he was lucky in terms of when he reigned as champ. He did dodge certain fighters and changed weight to avoid a few others. That is just great management. Hats off to Roy and thank you for all the great memories..Never did I ,eam any disrespect. My appologies....
Roy never retired as champ... he kept fighting, and still is...
This proves you know shit.
End of thread.
Garbage this shit.
Try to say the right thing and then there are guys like you who either cant read, or just love living as a miserable prick. Tell me somerhing,Mr.rePRICKulous, Who ever said he retired. You need to get off the negative trip. When he reigned as middleweight champ.is what I said.. Sorry for trying to clear things up!!
Roy never retired as champ... he kept fighting, and still is...
This proves you know shit.
End of thread.
Garbage this shit.
This proves that you are a nice, happy and knowledgeable boxing fan. Thanks for being so understandable. I am truly sorry for not agreeing with everything you say at all times. You are my hero.. Please accept my boxing ignorance.. Would you still be my friend? Oh PLease??????????????????
haha.
It's funny how you listed guys too small to fight Roy............or guys who Roy would just fucking whip ass on.
Deal with it.
He's hands down one of the top 5 Pound for Pound fighters of all time.
His level is the likes of one Ali, or Robinson.
top 5 pfp of all time, you are talking out of your ass. If your not joking then you are truly an idiot. Put down the bong.. RJJ is not in the top 100 all time pfp. A great fighter of his era, would have been considered a decent fighter if he would have fought in a different era.Look at his record?? He has fought who???? He wouldn't have been top 5 on my block growing up.. I would have punked him out of his lunch money daily, That is a fact!!!! Do you like kissing his ass or are you queer for him or what.In my day, Ray Robinson wouldn't have even fought someone who shook his ass, tuanting after the bell every round, and Hagler, Marvelous Marvin would have made Roy piss all over himself. Not even on the same level of fighter. Deal with that you lil sissy. Bitch.. You see my name here pal.. Thats my REAL FUCKING NAME.. I spent twenty years fighting. In and out of the ring. whipped everybody who thought they were tough.. Deal with it!!!!!
Gerald, Nigel and Chris all belong in the HOF. Great warriors each, in the ring and in life. Amen.
Absolutely they all belong, 3 boxers who never heard the word ducked or dodged.. Warriors they are. Thank you.
He only made to 2 defences of his middlewieght title.
What about Micheal Watson and Paul Ingle?? Both champions who as a result of brain damage had to retire.
You are incorresct in saying he only defended his title twice..After beating Julian Jackson, he Knocked out Jay Bell and then Knocked out Gilbert Baptist and then destroyed Jackson in his second meeting. All THREE in the First round. With nobody on the horizon he was forced to invade England in search of a competitive fight.. By the way, If the fight was called as it should have been(when Gerald knocked Benn through the ropes and out of the ring for much more than 10 seconds.
Oh, well I apologize... I thought you meant resigned period...
I apologize...
Very Cool I accept your appology. And I appologize for being so damn sarcastic.. We are both fans of a great sport, or art however you see it.Which is havng a tough time with mma growing leap and bounds as of late.. Lets all stick together and keep boxing alive and strong forever. Your boxing buddy, Lenny.
So McClellan is in, but Benn and Eubank aren't.:fuckyou:
What???? I don't think this thread had anything to do with whether or not Chris Eubank or Nigel Benn belong in the World Boxing Hall of Fame..This was about the G-man and what he is still facing everyday in his battle to stay alive.. The G-man wasn't only a Hall of Fame Boxer, but he was a Hall of Fame human being.. Thank you, G-man!!!
He almost broke Benn's head off, unbelievably heavy hands and looked a dead cert for future greatness.
And that was the best fight ever.
Yes I agree, One great fight. Both men had sledgehammers in both hands!!
I am an Italian American,ex fighterqqq
Yeah the TS praised Gerald McClellan in another thread and the last time I checked, the G-Man was black. More often than not, race has nothing to do with someone disliking a certain boxer.
I think the TS believes that Roy Jones was lucky because he did not have to face punchers like Gerald McClellan, Nigel Benn and Julian Jackson and he might be right.
One clean punch from those three could have put Roy's lights out, glass chin or not (I don't think Roy had a 'glass' chin).
This does not mean Roy Jones was overrated. He had a great career.
McClellan vs Roy Jones would have been a great rivalry that could have enhanced the legacy of both fighters.
Yes, nicely written. I would agree. You hit it right on the button.
im sorry buddy but not one middleweight today would be able to beat duran hagler hearns or leaonard. roy did beat mccallum yes i know you are going to say he was older but he did beat him. and to the guy who said roy was taking to roids. lol your fav fighter is jeff lacey dude. who has he beaten in his career peter manfredo uhoh look out he may have calz shaking in his gloves.
No mw today could beat any of the four.. Exactly..Roy couldn't have been born at better time. That division was very diluted in the 90's My all time favorites.. 1)M. Hagler 2)R.Duran 3)G.Haugen 4) M. Tyson 5)M. Ali. 6) B. Sommers .
Rjj did what he does best!!
I know he was serious about knocking tito out in fo', but he did what it took to win the fight so nobody will remember the comment.. I guess he could sit in the middle of the ring all night(as he did in Korea) to see if the judges will change their minds and call it a knockout in 4.. Two great champions just a bit past their prime.. Thanks to both for the memories.. Hey maybe Leonard can come back to fight B.T... Allright enough is enough.. Lenny......
Not much closer..
I had it 10 rounds to 2 for Jones Jr with only the 1st and 6th going to trini.
I don't know what lederman is smoking but he had trinidad leading after 5.
Remember Lederman is sitting in the front 5 rows at the garden. Much different when your there.. I also had tito winning until the 7th. tito won the first 3 and 4 out of the first 5.. Then came Roy.. I had it seven for roy and five for tito. But two of Roys were 10-8 rounds so he won the fight easy........
Best offensive, one at every weight
I'd say George Foreman wouldn't be a bad guess. After watching him fight the top three contenders in one night. Then watching him manhandle Joe Frazier, and winning the heavyweight title at almost 50. Then I would say Tyson who was the most dominant ever in a three year span.. And last of all props for Jack Johnson.. He hit pretty fucking hard.
