I would like to straighten out what has clearly been blown out of proportion.. I never stated that RJJ wasn't a great fighter. There is no doubt RJJ was and still is a great fighter.. I never, ever wanted to discredit his accomplishments. I have been enjoying his multinle talents for many years. I only stated that he doesn't belong on any list for greatest middlesweights ever and thought that he was lucky in terms of when he reigned as champ.He did dodge certain fighters and changed weight to avoid a few others. That is just great management. Hats off to Roy and thank you for all the great memories..Never did I ,eam any disrespect. My appologies.... He's a very good fighter, might be overrated by some but his athleticism and reflexes were incredible not many fighters has the combination of blistering fast combinations that have power behind every single punch, his resume may prevent him from becoming an ATG but considering his physical attributes, he'd give a lot of great fighters trouble and beat a few of them too.

All the talk of Roy Jones being one of the greatest middleweights of all time and Roy Jones the legend, Roy Jones the best pound for pound in the last 10 years.. Roy Jones stumbled into the middleweight division at the weekest time the division had ever seen.. If Roy was to have fought a few years earlier I don't think he would have ever won a widdleweight championship. Numerous fighters of the 80s would have made Roy look silly. Lets see how many fighters would have beaten him at thesame weight in the previous 10 years I guess we can start off with Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, and Sugar Ray Leonard,Gerald McClellan,Julian Jackson,Nigel Benn,Chris Eubanks,Mike McCallum,John Mugabi,. There is a simple 10 no-doubters. We saw what McClellanan did to Roy as an amatuer. What if he would have hit Roy without Roy wearing the headgear.. Nite-Nite Roy.. Roy should consider himself a very lucky man. Where is all this Roy disdain stemming from? He is by far one of the best and has been entertaining his whole career and still is at age 39. One of the best. No one fights like Roy they can only try to imitate him. In his prime I cant see any current or past top fighters beating him.

People think of Hagler the think Duran, Leonard, Hearns i dont i think of prime Hagler late 70s early 80s. He would fooking destroy Roy Jones, fast, heart, pressure, power much better footwork and had a chin of iron clad granite. He is the greatest 160lb fighter ever. Prime hagler was not in the arena of speed compared to prime 168 roy... thats all ill say about it... im not saying roy could beat him...

I am an Italian American,ex fighterqqq Yeah the TS praised Gerald McClellan in another thread and the last time I checked, the G-Man was black. More often than not, race has nothing to do with someone disliking a certain boxer. I think the TS believes that Roy Jones was lucky because he did not have to face punchers like Gerald McClellan, Nigel Benn and Julian Jackson and he might be right. One clean punch from those three could have put Roy's lights out, glass chin or not (I don't think Roy had a 'glass' chin). This does not mean Roy Jones was overrated. He had a great career. McClellan vs Roy Jones would have been a great rivalry that could have enhanced the legacy of both fighters. Yes, nicely written. I would agree.You hit it right on the button.
