With proper training and a good corner I think he would do well with aginst the current HW division. But if you had asked me this ten years ago he would get destroyed. Every fighter had to start some where. No fighter just starts off with great skills. Every fight or prospect has been fead bums in there first few fights, so why the hate on kimbo. Its not his fault the media hyped him up to be this beast of a man.
No. Not every prospect has been feed a few bums in MMA. Kimbo lost his fight with Thompson. It's just that the stupid Control Board was afraid of someone fucking bleeding that puts that match in Kimbo's fucking win column.
And the media never hyped up Kimbo. Gary Shaw hyped Kimbo.
So sit down and shut it!
LOL you are funny, listen I like Kimbo as much as the next guy OK, he's a very cool dude outside of the ring, very humble and of course a product of ghetto ass Miami so I gotta "keep it real" but dude Kimbo is too old and clearly does not have the stamina to keep up a 8-10-12 round fight against another HW. He struggled against Thompson last time and his groundwork is really bad, he's just being hyped because of the freakshow of the man that he is, so let's just leave it at that, he's better off in MMA.
Actually, he wouldn't live through MMA either. You need a great ground game to survive the scene.
For anyone still following this, word is that Fedor will be facing the winner of the Arlovski/Nelson fight happening this weekend on CBS. It will be for the WAMMA title on Jan. 17th.
ALSO! Because UFC is in Ireland, all the sports pubs are going to **** the card over by showing the live stream in the afternoon. GBP/Affliction will go unopposed at night.
I can't believe I forgot that part.
This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Can I put points on this failing miserably? lol
This is just plain stupid for the boxing world...:thumbsdow
golden boy is going to help put the nail in boxings coffin
Au Contrair. This could be the night you finally beat Dana at his own game.
You see, they're planing a card for the same day in Ireland. The headling is Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin. Now, everyone from the MMA community knows for a fact that Dana is trying to get his boy Franklin a third shot at the Middleweight title with this match and after Evans/Liddell, the community really doesn't like that crap. Other then that, Silva doesn't put too much thought into undercards playing the UK or Ireland.
If Golden Boy can pull out a real good match up out of their pocket and mix that with the Fedor match, You really can put a dent in Dana's ass.
Just stay out of Cali.
I wouldn't say it would be bad for Boxing exactly. I do think that both parties really need to sit down and think while planning this. They need to help the boxing fan along as well as the MMA fan in trying to "coexist".
If I were in their shoes....I'd work an ad campain that would possibly ease in everybody. Maybe have a top boxer and a top MMA fighter discuss the differences with their sports and how they also relate. Put it up on the web in a series of installments.
Also, what do they put in their programmes? If you can sneak in the rules of MMA and boxing followed by a brief five page bio of MMA, I'm sure it might go well.
If I were running the card, I'd try to pair really good striker (bonus if they have a boxing base) with very good grapplers. Barnett/Arlovski is a step in the right direction. LeBanner/Silvia would be good too. I'd also look into get a fight with Rogerio Nogueria as well.
Just stay out of Cali.
Don't you mean Vegas? cuz White "runs that city" lol
NSAC is good people to MMA, despite using boxing judges.
CSAC accused giants of using Baldanone. That's like accusing a diabetic of stashing sugar cookies.
NSAC is looking into Instant Reply for MMA.
CSAC is still suspending fighters for cartwheel passes and cross body dives.
NSAC allows fights to be set based on performance.
CSAC stops fights based on The Ultimate Fighter.
It actually could happen now that Golden Boy and Affliction are planning on putting MMA and Boxing fights on the same card...
What else could possibly come next but crossover fights between the sports?
If EXC dies, maybe.
But the first crossover wouldn't be Kimbo. It be KJ Noons.
he has had 3 fights in mma, a win over 40 something year old Ray Mercer, a win over 40 something year old Tank Abbott and a fluke win over James Thompson,
this guy has fought nobody, mma fans no he has fought nobody,
his next fight is against 45 year old light heavyweight Ken Shamrock who has lost his last 5 fights :lol1:
he is a well marketed hypejob who is kept away from real fighters in elite xc,
what does Kimbo deserve credit for? :alcoholic
i dont see what you are basing this on
Just checking your facts. Mercer didn't count because it was an exhibition on unregulated land.
Kimbo first match was against Bo Cantrell, a money collector how dove once the bell rang.
If you really want to get really technical, Kimbo fought and finished only one match. Tank Abbot.
This Just In: DREAM Middleweight Champ Gerard Mousasi will be facing Vitor Belfort on the card.
The Fedor situation is up in the air. Josh Barnett is thrown in the mix.
Better PPV's would be one of my requests..
You have a main event thats decent and then bare shit undercard fights
hate to bring up the ufc but those guys put on great matchups from start to finish
we need to follow the example...
eeehh. while ufc does have good cards, they've middle of the road cards as well. they don't put much effort in british cards, but there's a fun match or two on them.
LOL. All this video does is show that Penn can trade shots with a bunch of nobodies. Guys that can't box and so on. That garbage BJ throws would be cake for Zab. :op:
Zab would demolish BJ so bad he wouldn't even have that stupid Hawaiian accent anymore.
Takanori Gomi, Dwayne Ludwig and Georges St. Pierre are nobodies?
I am grateful for MMA. MMA takes WWE's grownup fans off my back so I can enjoy what I want. MMA is a public servant of going bankrupt promotions like Elite XC, Cage Rage, Icon Sport, Strike Force, Pride and Affliction.
In Japan, traditionally the biggest MMA audience in the world Dream by parent company FEG's admission is on it's last legs and ready to close doors for good.
That leaves the UFC. If MMA's future lies with one promotion MMA is fucked on it's own.
Ehh. Cage Rage, ICON and STRIKEFORCE have been around a long time before joining Elite. They'll still be around after it dies. It's not like Elite did anything with them anyways.
And FEG is really at fault for the failings of DREAM. K-1 is great with Kickboxing, but they never created anything competitive with DREAM. Even with former Pride employees running the show now, it's already failed.
Keep your eyes on World Victory Road. They're slowly rising up.
1. The constant screwing of future talent by putting mediocre matches on the PPV to make the headline look better.
2. The Deathly fear of losing.
3. Promoters behind on the times in the world of PR.
I am guessing you're trying to write 'moving'. Most mundial and Pan Am jiujitsu winners would agree UFC has fairly poor grappling.
No but in the case of Brock Lesanr he quit WWE tried to an NFL pro and failed. MMA was his last effort at pro-sports. Other than that Lesnar never wrestled a real amatuer wrestling match since 2001. Ken Shamrock and Brock Lesnar agree the UFC is the place for retired pro-wrestlers.
Pro-wrestling is red neck soap operas. Enjoy.
Of course grappling's going to be poor. Sport grapplers don't have to worry about GnP.
And after the NFL, during his time wrestling in Japan, Brock hooked up with Erik Paulsen and started training. Shammy training under Funaki anf Fujiwara.
Both of them are Catchers.
sorry to contribute to another MMA thread on NSB, but i train at a gym that does both karate and boxing and theres always dudes goin in wearin tap out clothin tap out everything and think they the shit. yes these guys are workin hard but just seein them throw bags on the floor and hit it with all they got, tryin to do knee strikes n shit, i just cant take that serious for some reason. i cant take MMA serious for some reason. and i have tried on numerous occasions to watch a ufc or mma fight to try and understand why people like it and i cant find it. no offense to anyone but that shit sucks. all they do is roll around. i cant take mma seriously, sure they are growin as bigger then boxing, but on the real, that shits whack to me. that is all.
I'm getting the feeling that you've trained boxing since you were a kid. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I can understand training in one style for a long time and then see a totally new style and get totally confused. It takes a while to truly comprehend the theories of grappling and it's applications.
Why don't you try asking those guys questions about it next time you see them. Better yet, if you got time, go to Youtube and look up Eddie Bravo or Erik Paulsen. Some of their lectures and instructionals are posted there.
yeah, i read a headline on the newspaper that a vast majority of homosexuals love watching MMA. It must have something to do with the rolling around the floor on top of each other crap all the homos love. Im not trying to diss the gay community here, but two guys twisting each other's arms and rolling on the floor sounds gay to me.
Hey that's awesome!
What's the source?
They're by their own admission deeply in debt. I give them a year more running in the red and then they too can be pronounced dead.
Which got bought by Don Quejote (sp) which is like the Japanese Walmart.
UFC is trash, it dont take a brain surgeon to twist somebody's arm or leg,1. MMA is just the easy way out because they could not make it in boxing.2. Also it consists of WWE rejects.3. Nothing more. They dont knnow the hard work that one must put in as an amateur then fighting your way up as a pro going through every obstacle to get your title shot.4.
I should write a form letter for this stuff.
1. Said by someone who hasn't twisted anything. No one is going to lay down for an armbar. they're going to be constantly movine. It does take a brain surgeon to figure out how to pull that same hold in every position possible.
2. Wrestlers, catchers, judoka, samboists, jiujitsukas, etc. never wanted to be boxers.
3. If you're talking about Catchers, your damn skippy they get to fight in MMA Catch is the purest and base form of pro wrestling. Today's pro wrestlers aren't worthy enough to smell their shit. And so what if the came from the E. If they have the proper credentials, it's the wiser and more healthier option to take these days.
4. Now your just full of bullshido here.
