Don't think Ward should be at 2...he's been too inactive for me and Rodriguez win doesn't impress me as beating a top 3 p4p fighter in bradley
Nonito must be beating himself up over giving Rigo that fight, can't believe I'm saying this but Oscar was right...he should've fought Mares. Ever since the Rigo fight he's dropped off the p4p radar like a stone and created a monster instead.
Many of the great Mexicant fighters have quit on their stool and whine and complain like little biotches after losing their fights.
Face it: an entire generation of "great" Mexicant fighters have been wiped out by a midget from the Phillipines and the best argument you guys have is to whine like little biotches like Marquez and the judges. If yall were HALF the badasses you make yourselves out to be , Margarito and co would've KOd the midget back to Manila
These "would have" and other conspiracy theories don't add anything to what happened. The facts are that Cotto was dominating the fight and way ahead on all scorecards and rightfully so. Margarito had 9 full rounds and was not able to be really effective. What is the basis to say that he would do in 3 minutes what he was not even close to doing in 27?
I think Margarito, as usual, showed a lot of courage and desire and I was admiring that, but that disappeared after all the excuses he's mentioned and the way he refuses to give any credit to Cotto. I know they hate each other but it would be a very honorable thing to take your loss like a man and go back to the drawing board with your head up high. It gets even worse when some of his fans just deny the facts and act as if Margarito just needed 30 seconds of the 10th round to put Cotto to sleep out of nowhere when it was clear that Margarito had vision problems, was getting tired also, and seemed much weaker than in 2008. Otherwise, how was Cotto able to push him to the ropes on several occasions? Honestly, who expected to see Margarito against the ropes in a fight with Cotto? I know I did not expect it.
I generally agree but think you're being a little too harsh on Margo and his fans. In fairness, Margarito has always been a late starter and has historically had his best rounds late in the fight so regardless of how bad he looked it's not unreasonable to think that he might have had some moments in the final 3 rounds against a fighter he stopped previously before, has had stamina issues let's face it and kept on putting the pressure.
Yes he was losing the fight, losing the fight big but again look at the 1st Cotto fight and the Williams fight, both fights in which Margarito came on strong at the end after getting fairly dominated and outboxed the 1st 5-6 rounds. While he doesn't always come from behind to win, he is the type of fighter whose stamina, determination and body attacks that become most effective and evident late in fights.
As far as not saying "the better man won blah blah blah" I think we all knew the bad blood and immense pride of these two fighters and I think it's bit idealistic to think they would let bygones be bygones just like that especially when a fight ended against the will of that fighter who rightly or wrongly believed he still could've won.
please
does someone know the Margarito´s ring entrance song, last saturday?
thanks
Not sure but found it very very strange and I've watched almost all of his big fights and he's always come in with Vicente Fernandez' great song, surprised he would change it up so much for this one
And the cornrows too? Very surprising, I guess we'd hear more about it had he won the fight
Robert Garcia and his dad also worked in the corner for Fernando Vargas: another Mexicant , come forward , tough guy who used his head to absorb power shots.
See Vargas - Trinidad , Mosley and Oscar to see how all that worked out
;)
Cotto has every right to go for the eye...it's funny how all these psuedo fake "tough guy" mexicants wanna talk about what a warrior, a beast Cheatorito is but then when Cotto talks about what would seem like an obvious strategy - going for your opponent's soft spot they cry and whine about it
Can't have it both ways "macho" boys
Cotto via TKO
Will be happy when this joins my collection of other Mexican classics like Trinidad-Vargas and Mosley-Margarito ;)
LOL Who writes these articles? Margarito did not contradict himself. He said he would die in the ring if he had to before giving up. Of course if your eye is permanently damaged before a fight, you're not going to fight because first of all you won't be allowed to and second of all you wouldn't be at your %100. Saturday when Margarito wins, Cotto will apologize and the whole plaster thing will be forgotten for good.
Yea I'm a Cotto fan and even I didn't see any contradiction with Cheato.
He's saying he'd risk his life in the ring when in a fight however wouldn't agree to be in one unless his eyesight is 100%. Obviously you don't wanna go into pro fights with world class fighters with damaged eyesight but once in the ring you do whatever the f it takes to pull out the W or die tryin.
That's what I understand to be Tony's position and I see no contradiction; the writer of the article maybe needs a lesson in logical reasoning.
