It rolly don’t wanna defend just strip him and have this just be the main title for this fight. This super duper championship be again just dilutes the divisions and the titles themselves.
I woudnt be mad if they made him against Calum smith for the interim belt. It was meant to be Morrell but Cheili beat him so him against smith is an idea now and smith will be coming back from an injury aswell
Nice to see the guy turn his life around and making sure he’s investing his future for after he’s done with the sport. Made the mistake when he was younger taking Cocaine that got him banned but he’s come back and yeah he’s not a world beater and won’t ever be one but the guy is getting good domestic fights and getting paid well for them why he can and that’s still an achievement
Just a great fighter who honed his skills over the years sparring everyone in the gyms from a young age. Guy was in there with champions at 15-16 years old and holding his own. Be interesting to see where he goes next because Opetaia fight doesn’t look to likely and he could have options at 175lbs but he’s gotta be up there now as one of the best pound for pound in the world because he’s going in there and he’s demolishing everyone because nobody has done that to Zurdo he just basically walked through him and he was the guy coming up in weight
Can’t sleep on Zurdo especially when he’s the one who’s been up at crusierweight and put on 3 solid wins against Goulamirian,Billiam-smith and Doritcos who were all either champion or former champions. Imo it’s just how David looks in terms of carrying this extra weight because it’s a big jump up and Zurdo is someone who is durable and who can bring the heat in the fight, so gotta see how his engine and his hand speed is gonna look at 200lbs
I mean she has a point.. Shields hasn’t fought anybody who’s long and rangey like Mayer who can box using it before in her career. Not saying Mayer would win but style wise shields has fought a lot of women who are tailor made for her in terms of them being slower and more ponderous on there feet then her. I think Mayer at 154 for example would pose a new challenge for her and it’s the kind of fights she should be looking at instead of going all the way to the female heavyweight division where its basically a division of women who look like novices in there
Both of them looked old and past it, but it was a pretty fun fight but I don’t wanna see Chisora in the ring anymore. The guys had a really good career and made more money than most world champions will make in the sport and he’s got a wife and kids and stuff so I just don’t see why he just wants to keep going in there and getting cracked in the head especially now he’s in his 40 and took so much punishment over the years
Masternak is the best fight for Riley right now. European/fringe world level and a veteran who’s been in there with quality fighters and isn’t an easy night for anyone. So if he can go in there and make a statement against someone like that then you can say he’s ready for the next level and i think if he wins this then a fight with someone like Billiam smith next could be something to make. And even if it’s a tough night it’s still a good fight in terms of getting rounds in and getting experience
Guys like this should just be banned for life because it’s just clear cheating and so dangerous because Yafai took bad punishment in that fight against a guy juiced up and could of ended up a lot more seriously hurt.. the sport has been and still is riddled with guys on the Juice and just getting them gone from the sport completely when there caught would set a better example.
I like Keith, especially when he talks boxing could listen to him break down fights for hours because he’s so knowledgeable about the sport and I hope he transitions into an analyst role when he’s done. But this fight here I just can’t see him getting past fundora who’s got the momentum right now who’s younger and fresher and obviously we all know a lot bigger and been active I just think Thurman hasn’t been active enough or had the fights to get him ready for something like this especially at his age now and the injury’s he’s had. Can see him probably getting stopped on his stool in 8-9 rounds
I mean Franklin is a decent boxer and as we saw against AJ even tho he was losing the fight clearly he knows how to survive in there but that was against a older coming off a loss AJ where as Itauma is young and fresh and is a real talent so you can see this ending within 6 rounds
Was such a shame he decided to spar again after his injury, like he came out of it the first time pretty unscathed and seemed totally fine afterwards which was amazing but the yearn to box again got to him and obviously caused the second brain injury and he didn’t bounce back aswell that time and you could see the effects mentally the second injury caused and still causes. Guy was young and he could have done anything else even stayed in boxing to train/coach guys but not being able to box himself was obviously very hard on him and he made that mistake that caused him more damage that he didn’t need to take.
Shakur should have fought the Roach
Yeah I think that would of been a good fight for Shakur because his last two fights he’s fought a pressure guy and another fighter who main attribute is his athleticism more than technical skills so them fights are more tailor made for him where as roach is more of a boxer and good one so that would of a been a good match up
He has 3 options really. Move up and try and get a fight at 168, try and get a unification with Lara at 160 or give one of the up coming guys a shot at the belt like Aaron McKenna, Omari jones, Troy Isley etc but I don’t think either 3 of them could beat Adames right now.
Middleweight division is not very deep right now at all which is a shame because it’s historically been one of the best divisions in boxing in terms of fights. Adames and Janibek clearly the best two fighters tho init right now and it’s also a shame that we haven’t been close to seeing that fight happen and with janibek failing a Ped test it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon. Just make Lara-Adames next tho
Conlan just never translated very well to the pro game. Technically a good fighter but just didn’t have the power or the physical strength in there to make opponents respect him at the higher level. Was unlucky against Leigh wood in that fight but again woods power and physical strength just got to conlan in the end. And now he’s older and he’s suffered some heavy losses it’s not surprising he’s just gone more down hill. Right choice to retire tbh he could of done that after the stoppage loss to Jordan gill because that fight showed he had just hit his ceiling as a pro
After what happened to Ricky Hatton last year I think boxing needs things like this more than ever because it’s such a hard sport and these fighters after it’s over can’t seem to handle that sometimes so support is always needed
His wife seems like the Dragon Queen who determines when and where Nonito fights. I've seen the in interviews and it looks like she's a ventriliquist and he's the dummy.
Yeah and he’s had like 3 fights in the space of a year aswell and at his age that’s not something he should be doing or even fighting at all. He’s had such a decorated career so to keep on when it’s not there anymore and if it is people like his wife advising him to keep fighting then she’s really doing him wrong by that because he’s only gonna get older and the damage will get worse
Whoever’s advising donaire to keep on fighting at this point is doing him a severe disservice. He’s probably one of the nicest guys in the sport so it’s not great seeing him keep on and taking losses but he’s been pretty much done for a while and him just to keep getting out against these up and coming dangerous fighters he’s just gonna take punishment that he doesn’t need to because he’ll always get the fights because of what he achieved in the sport so he’s a name to add to the record for these guys but his health isn’t gonna be the best if he keeps going
Him against Jack Rafferty could be the fight to make next, he’s got the IBO belt and Rafferty is the British and commonwealth champion both undefeated and at Simalier points in there career so it makes sense
Tbf that probably should have been the fight that happened. Both Simalier experience in acutal boxing even tho Rico is a lot more accomplished in terms of kickboxing Francis still so dangerous because of the power he has so that’s a more interesting fight than Rico against Usyk who usyk should just break down and probably stop in 6-7 rounds.
This guy might be ready for a title shot next. Strong puncher for the division like collazo is and I think that’s a really good fight to make if collazo doesn’t get a shot to unify again next
I mean she’s done everything in the sport she can do why also fighting the best opposition in her divisions. Olympic medalist, multi time world champion amateur and pro, sold out madison square gardens etc only thing she didn’t get was the big stadium fight in Ireland which doesn’t look likely for the last one either but even without that she had great career and she’ll go down as one of irelands sporting greats.
Tbf it’s a fight that doesn’t matter if happens or not imo. We all know shields is just gonna box her way to a UD because like I’ve said before none of these girls have the skill level to compete with shields so she just cruises her way to wins in these fights with them being mostly uneventful
Yea it’s either retire or just become fodder for upcoming guys at 130lbs. When a guy starts going in there and can’t put the trigger like it seemed Warrington couldn’t do in there then it’s time to call it a career. Guys won everything domestic titles all the way to world titles and probably made some decent cash aswell from it
The guy made a ridiculous amount probably more money than any boxer has made ever really and yet still has to come back because he needs money. I mean that’s just stupid but would not be surprised if barrios beats Ryan then he’ll come back for a fight like that and make 40-50 million and then dip again. I mean props to barrios if that did happen because that means he can say fought two legends hall of famers of the sport why probably being on the weakest welterweight champions out there and he himself probably has/will make life changing money from them two fights. But to have Tank Davis,Keith Thurman, Ryan Garcia, manny pacquio and Floyd Mayweather on the resume that’s pretty cool
