A week is all it's taken for Derek Chisora to reconsider his retirement following his split decision points loss to Deontay Wilder in London, England.
The 42-year-old veteran had promised to walk away from boxing whatever the result of his 50th bout but, predictably, he's already making noises about coming back. His motive, he claims, is justice.
In what was a messy fight which resulted in the British Boxing Board of Control reviewing the performance of Mark Bates, Chisora was twice officially counted. The Englishman, 36-14 (23 KOs), claims he was pushed on both occasions. The ropes, which were noticeably loose, also played a part in his falls, insisted Chisora.
"I'm very upset with the scoring, the two knockdowns that were given [against me] were pushes. The ropes were so loose it was an embarrassment, I'm not happy with that," Chisora told TalkSport. "I'll be honest with you, the whole thing was a shambles, on my side and on his side as well. But I wanna get a rematch."
Chisora could be seen sporting a t-shirt that read 'retirement is for pussy's' this past weekend while attending Tyson Fury's comeback victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov. Aside from Wilder, however, Chisora has no interest in fighting anyone else. He has fought several fighters more than once, like Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte, Joseph Parker, and Kubrat Pulev.
Wilder won the bout via scores of 115-111 and 115-113. The third score favored Chisora, 115-112, but the general consensus - despite the obvious chaos in the ring - was that the right man won. The Board opted against taking any further action against Bates who returned to center ring this past weekend to preside over Fury's victory against Makhmudov.
