Let me ask you guys something, is Floyd going to be requiring blood test from his future opponents?
He might, but then again, who knows? You think Pacquiao will ask for a 10 million a pound weight penalty in his next fight? THIS fight was like no other, can't really compare them to other fights. Just my opinion though.
Rios is tailor made for Pacquiao. Comes straight forward with little defense and gets hit a lot and never adjusts. Target practice for Pacquiao. It'll be like Pacquiao-Margarito/Diaz. Smart move by Arum! Get Pacquiao a good motivational fight after such a brutal KO. Rios only has a punchers chance. He's going to get dominated from rd 1 until it ends. BUT, this is assuming Pacquiao isn't traumatized by the KO. Rios is nothing special. Granite chin and being relentless doesnt really work on the elite level.
Bottom line, if there is to be a fight, there will be tests, period! Couple quick questions to people saying that Mayweather is using the tests as an excuse to get out of the fight, how did Floyd know Pacquiao was going to say no to the tests originally? Why not just call his bluff? Why did Arum and company walk away from negotiations when Floyd countered with "14 days" the first time around? Why did Arum and company announce the 3rd Marquez-Pacquiao fight a full 6 months before the fight (a mere 1 week after the Mosley fight)? Why did they make sooo many excuses on why not to take the tests? Again, how did he know Pac was going to say NO?? I don't think Floyd is a psychic, I'm sure you guys don't either.
BTW, I am not convinced Pacquiao is on something, I actually believe he's clean, BUT I always ask myself, why the hell did he and his camp act so stupid about the request? There actions is what made so many people suspicious, and I could see how. I like Pac, but I can't stand Arum. He's been milking him so bad.
Flomos are getting owned in this thread. They seem to forget that theres a thing called innocent until proven guilty. Floyd defamed, slander and libeled the hell outta Pac and he didn't have a single shred of evidence. And then when the judge asked to to show up he ducked and dodged.
And Pac has stated on video that he agreed to take the test. Arum put a countdown timer on toprank.com waiting for floyd to accept the fight. What did Floyds camp do? They said negotations never happened. HBO's Greenburg told up they did exposing Floyd and his camp as being a bunch of liars.
The facts are this- The Pac-Floyd fight was a done deal before the Clottey fight until Floyd asked for OSDT, something he has no authority to ask for.
Pac agreed to the tests and Floyds camp said negoitations never happened.
Floyd says "Pacquiao, your next!" and "Take the test and we'll fight." and Pac has gone on record saying he'll take the test before, during and after the fight and now Floyd says, "I contradict myself all the time.
To sum it up, there is only one camp thats preventing this fight from happening and it aint Pacquiao's. Pacquiao and Top Rank have been ready for over 2 years to make this fight happen.
I think both are to blame. Pacquiao can say yes to the tests all he wants, but if it's not in writing, whats the point? Pacquiao's advisor came out recently and said that they have never agreed to the tests up until the day of the fight, so Pac's camp contradicts themselves too. And Floyd said he was going to ask for random tests before negotiations even started. He was lenient at first, but now it's up until the day of the fight, or there won't be a fight period.
Chups, You think Mosley is a defensive fighter? Lol... Mosley is like Cotto, they can't fight backing up. Mosley was just trying to survive, that's all. Manny is probably the best brawler out there, the way to beat him is with a good defensive fighter who can fight backing up or can counter with great accuracy.
Marquez is fighting in April, I don't see him fighting 2 months later on another ppv. Canelo isn't a ppv draw yet, unless he fights mayweather, and I don't see that happening either. So yeah, maybe it is a hint of mayweather's return. Who knows.
He says Haye-Chagaev is in May. He says Hopkins is fighting in May as well. I can't imagine what he has planned on this ppv. Mayweather is the only name I can think of that makes sense, and he has legal matters to get through first too, so who knows? We'll just have to wait and see I guess I would imaging Canelo would be on the undercard.
I called it 3 years ago, when he was 28-0. Not hard to see at all. Many of you will say you guys always knew he was 1-dimensional, but reading through these old posts, many guys on here were so in love with Rios. Thought he was the next great thing lol.
Like I said before, being relentless with a good chin will only get you so far. He's fun to watch though. And have you guys noticed his speech is getting worse?
Did you see how much he got hit against those fighters? I think he relies on his chin a little too much. I would say that we'll just see when he fights a world class fighter, but knowing Arum, that'll never happen.
I'm not saying Rios sucks or anything like that. I like him, I just don't see him beating the top guys.
Margarito was and has always been overrated in my opinion. His best win was against Cotto and that has controversy all over it. Cotto was beating him the majority of the fight. Other than that fight, who exactly did Margarito beat to be on the top of that division? Cintron?
I'm just not sold on Rios at all. Arum won't put him up against anyone I named up there, you'll see. I do like Rios though. Boxing needs more boxers (or should I say brawlers) like him.

Just read some of those comments after His fight with Antillon. There numerous threads at the time about how he's the future and will easily clean out 135-140. I just didn't get it, which is why I made this thread 3 years ago. I remember Bread from a different site was calling him a beast and extremely hard to beat. Saying he was special. I called him out on it recently and he said he never said that of Rios. How easily people forget.
With that said, I still like him for what he is! Very fun to watch in my opinion. He's definitely not elite though!!
Like it or not, but based on their styles, this seems like an action packed card (except for paulie haha)... Morales asked for this fight and he got it. Katsidis is never in a boring fight. And Kirkland is all action as well. This is one of the cheaper PPVs in years (compared to the de la hoyas, pacquiao's, and mayweather) so I think it's worth it.
I dont know. After Mosley, there isnt really anyone left.
According to Arum, it'll be a rematch with Margarito or Cotto (if no mayweather fight can be made)
If Morales thinks Maqrquez in living in the past, then what does he think he's doing by constantly bringing up he beat Pacquiao 6 YEARS AGO! Funny how the tables have turned. Morales WAS the man, but that was a long time ago.
