A day after MMAJunkie.com reported that Bellator was close to signing a boxing match between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and former boxing champion Roy Jones Jr., Jackson's manager Anthony McGann, who refused to discuss details, said all will be revealed very soon. "What I can say is that the Bellator/Viacom strategy for entering into the pay-per-view market is a very interesting one," McGann said. "It is innovative and will be announced at the Bellator event in Albuquerque on the 31st of this month. "Fans can expect this thing to be rolled out somewhat dramatically, and I suggest that everyone tunes in for a very entertaining event with plenty of unexpected elements that will have the MMA world talking for many weeks to follow." According to sources with knowledge of the situation, both Jackson and Jones will be in attendance at the Bellator 97 event next Wednesday at the Santa Ana Center Albuquerque, N.M. The fight, which is expected to take place at the end of the year, and the pay-per-view plans will be announced on the ****e TV broadcast. "We’ve been talking to Roy and his people about a potential Rampage vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight for over 7 months," McGann added. "If it happens, it would be an incredible fight. I used to be a big boxing fan but haven't been following the science for the last few years. Watched Marquez KO pacquiao recently, golovkin vs macklin and a few Friday night fights replays and I'm getting interested in following boxing again but I don't know who's exciting to watch. To put it into perspective, I am more familiar with guys like lennox lewis, john ruiz, roy Jones, Oscar, Vargas, Mosley, trinidad, hopkins, winky wright, zab Judah, Barrera, morales, pretty boy floyd, and that era. Nowadays I recognize the klitschkos, Floyd, cotto, pacquiao, and Juan Manuel Marquez but not much more. I see people talking about canelo Alvarez, Sergio Martinez, gennady golovkin, adrien broner and Andre ward and I was wondering who else is good? And what are some good fights to watch from the last couple years?
