Still don't think we've seen the end of this saga by far. :banghead:
Not by a long shot...thanks for putting this timeline together. Man, this is a whole lot of BS from DLH. From talking smack to Cotto for dropping the WBC belt, to Canelo dropping it on his own, not a middleweight, all the way to to negotiation tactics. Quite the saga indeed. Let's hope Golovkin puts him in his place this September & doesn't let it go to the judges another time.
You can only fight those willing to get in the ring with you. It's no coincidence that he's only gotten the higher visibility fights since his first PPV while his career is now winding down.
Verifiable offers to 13 current/former/future world champs with a combined record of 436W-24L that were turned down & never stepped in the ring against GGG.
When it comes to GGG's resumé, there's no apples to apples, just tomatoes to potatoes
hah, I laughed at this. Not really true, but funny none the less. Golovkin has always tried to get better opponents in the ring, just hasn't always materialized. Can't wait for September for him to put a stamp on his resume.
Never forgot about this question, just took me some time to get around to it. Link
one tactic that Loeffler/Sanchez use is to say an opponent has no intentions of facing their fighter without even talking to them.
they just recently did it to Derevyanchenko. Loeffler said that Derev wasn't gonna be ready for May 5th without even talking to the guy. Then Derev's people came out and put Loeffler in his place.
Whether Derev can beat him or not is not the point. Why use shady tactics to brush him aside? that's the issue..
Not sure if Derev would have really taken on this fight on short notice. The negotiations with Jacobs recently paint a different picture. Either way, IBF really comes off looking like fools for stripping him & not having a fight lined up. Interested in seeing if the Jacobs fight actually gets sealed this Tuesday.
Need to made a thread of who Gennady has ducked, not sure it's that long but still would be interesting to see.
The best solution I think I first heard suggested by Joe Rogan (3:10) is to do away with the 10pnt must system & simply have 10 judges (4:00) that are at a separate location & watch the fights without commentary so neither the crowd or announcers affect their scoring. It's such a simple solution, the larger pool of judges increases the odds of having a fair score. You can always have a couple bad ones from either side of the spectrum, throw out the highs & lows...the average is what always determines the winner.
Interesting suggestion.
I advocate the fighters continue until someone quits or is stopped / knocked out.
Definitely old school. Too PC nowadays.
