No question Trout won, but I don't know about that judge who only gave Cotto 1 round. That said, I think tonight we saw that Trout is a very serious threat to anybody at 154. I had seen Trout fight about 2 or 3 times before tonight and I felt he was kind of boring and didn't have enough to be in there with the big boys, but he proved otherwise tonight. Congrats to Austin Trout, very well deserved win.
As far as the best current ring announcers go,my favourite is Lupe Contreras. He has such a natural flow in his speaking and does a great job in building the introductions up without getting too excited.
He also has the very best catchphrase of all the ring announcers."Quien es el mas macho" would sound corny as hell in English, but it sounds great in Spanish. And he's smooth as hell. A few years back I was at a Solo Boxeo afterparty type of deal trying to work up the courage to go talk to this chick, and when I finally was walking over to her out of nowhere Lupe beats me to her taps her on the shoulder and just starts spitting game making her laugh n $ht. I knew my opportunity had passed right then. GOD DAMN!!!
Im a Canelo fan no doubt but I thought his comments were pretty dumb. You can go 100-0 and you still wouldn't be greater than Chavez, that's just how it is in the eyes of Mexican fans. Also showing the slightest disrespect towards Chavez Sr is the quickest way to make Mexican fans not like you. Im also a little surprised at how lightly Chavez Sr took Canelo's comments.
If I were Marquez, I definitely wouldn't take this fight at this point. Yeah, as a Marquez fan I would like to see him retire, he has nothing left to prove and doesn't need to risk getting hurt. Provo is a beast, I want to see him get another shot at Bradley, I think he can take him out this time.
ward's right on point regarding the kelly pavlik retirement..
honestly, i dont think theres anyone in the 168-175 arena who can beat ward right now..probably has a good chance of retiring undefeated I can totally see Ward retiring undefeated, he's not always the strongest or the fastest in the ring, but he's always the smartest.
He doesn't get the respect or the props he deserve at the moment. But time will be good to Floyd, after he's retired he'll be spoken about as one of the ATG's Agreed, a lot of people hate on Floyd but years from now when Floyd's been retired for a while, people will cheer when he sits ringside and they show his face on the big screen, like they do with Tyson. I can't say that I've ever watched a Mayweather fight where I wanted him to win, but as a boxing fan from a neutral stand point, I can appreciate the beauty of what Floyd does. People talk about Floyds defense and his speed but the biggest advantage he has over other fighters is his intelligence.
Pop him with un-detectibles.
Joking aside, how can a guy that is out of shape be a "strength and conditioning" coach? Lol no $ht. There's a guy at the gym I go to who gives everybody advice on how to get in shape and what supplements to take, but I just feel I would listen to him more if he wasn't so fat.
I don't often agree with Sulaiman, but in this case I think he's 100% right. I'd like to see nothing more than Canelo giving Floyd a beating, but at this point I see Mayweather winning by comfortable UD.
Brandon clearly doesn't care about his health. Alvarado 2 in a row then PAC now Provo? Damn, that's right. This could be 3 consecutive losses for Rios. Hey you can't hate on a guy who's willing to throw down but I got Provo by KO around the 9th in a hell of a fight.
Great match up, but Golden Boy will have to work awfully hard to garner a decent PPV number. For sure. I want to see these two go at it as much as anybody, but PPV? C'mon
Dawson vs Jeff lacy LOL! I remember when Jeff Lacy fought Jermaine Taylor they called that fight " Road To Redemption" LOL! Where the hell is Jermaine Taylor btw? Didn't he have a comeback fight last year? Last time I heard his name, some hooker was accusing him of not paying her or some $ht.
I've always felt it was a little unfair for a fighter to move up in weight and have a title shot instantly. I don't care if it's broner or Marquez or whoever, as big a star as you might be there are guys who've been campaigning at a weight trying to get a shot and here comes another guy getting a shot because they bring in more money. I just think boxers should have at least one fight at that weight class before they fight for the belt.
No way Chavez has equal power to Golovkin. When Chavez really loads up, then he can punch with real power. But most of the time, he is just a good puncher. He couldn't even drop Vera. I've always felt Jr's power was a bit overrated because he usually comes in with a huge weight advantage and he's not just taking guys out in 1 or 2 rounds. Jr is more of a break you down kind of puncher.
Say what you will, but at this time Canelo and Ward seem to be the only ones even entertaining the idea of fighting GGG. Nobody's pushing for a Golovkin fight, even his trainer thinks GGG-Canelo is more likely then GGG-Cotto.
misleading article. I thought this would be a response to Floyd Sr. saying Broner has faced nobody! That Broner shoulder roll will fall apart against a real fighter!! Somebody didn't have the balls to ask that question i guess! I know! Wtf! Thats the only reason I clicked on this article, and instead I find a bunch of useless generic questions.
The only time I would bet against Mayweather is if he fought Martinez. Floyd is an incredibly skilled fighter but i think Sergio beats him convincingly.
In a rematch Jr would be very aggressive since the opening bell and he would miss a lot of punches and run out of gas followed by getting KO'd. Martinez doesn't have to prove anything against Jr.
