It made De La Hoya so angry to see a true Mexican warrior like Margarito go out with a smile on his face, without quitting against Mosley.Just one month prior to that fight De La Hoya was made to quit by a featherweight.
We all know De La Hoya ducked Antonio Margarito and we all know he doesn't have half the heart and testicular fortitude that the "Tijuana Tornado" has.
De La Hoya would only fight Margarito when he is certain Margarito is washed up,just like he did with Vargas.
Your opinion is worthless.
I think it is relevan since in his whole career he showed the power to be a threat... It just that Shane was just a different type of beast. Unless you think he somehow fooled everybody in his whole career by using plaster in every single one of his pro fights. The man was a threat... That/this version of Oscar would get destroyed by Margarito without plaster...
Margarito's whole career has nothing to do with how he is now. He's not a younger, prime version of himself, anymore.
The only fight that we can safely confirm he did not use plaster in was in his last fight against Mosley. And Mosley being a "beast" has nothing to do with it. Forget Mosley and just look at how Margarito fought alone.
He's not a good technical fighter and his only weapons were his punching power, his chin and his never-go-down attitude. Take away the punching power (plaster) and you have a technically-lacking fighter with no power. He may have the heart and the chin, but without technical skills and/or power, he's nothing against the likes of even a past-prime DLH.
4 of his last 6 opponents he look like shit. Again you talking about Forbes. Did you see what Forbes did to his face and some how you don't even think Margarito could do much worse even without plaster? And, Forbes didn't even belong in that weight-class his limit is 140. And, he is not even a top 10 JWW... And, you think he look good dominating a fighter like that? You don't want to use the Pacquiao fight as an example but you want to use the Forbes fight as an example? The Forbes fight that is all I need it to hear, you have a good day sir...
Considering he wasn't weight-drained in the Forbes fight, it is a good example.
I disagree... That Oscar wasn't that good... If you look even though he won damn near every round against Forbes you would see that even Forbes who is feather fisted even at 130 bust Oscar Oscar cheek bone... Margarito would hunt him down and stop late in the fight...
Margarito won't be having his plaster, though. Without his plaster, he's not even a threat.
Fine you want to stay on topic. And, mentioned how Margarito looked in his last fight. Yet look at how Oscar looked in 4 for of his last 6 fights... Margarito beats the living the hell out of him. And, even Oscar knows it...
Why his last 6 fights? You think he's still the same version of how he was in 2004-2006? Let's just review his past 3 fights:
vs Pacquiao - Better not to use this as an example, since he was weight-drained. Until that fight, he hadn't fought in the welterweight division for 7 years.
vs Forbes - Forbes may not be an elite fighter, but DLH completely dominated the fight.
vs Mayweather - This fight was in the division that a fight between DLH and Margarito would happen at.
He went up against the #1 P4P fighter in the sport. Mayweather is one of the best pure boxers, in the last decade, and he still had a bit trouble with DLH. If DLH could give Mayweather some trouble, I'm sure he could give Margarito all he could handle.
I will answer you question. But, I want to say this so in you in the belief that he used plaster in both the Cintron fights or in the rematch? If he used it in both fights then why didn't he use it against Clottey and Williams? Since those two fights were sandwhich betweent the Cintron rematches. Or if he used in the rematch and not the first fight then you do realize that he KO'd Cintron quicker without it then when he did when he used it right?
Years before he even fought Cintron Margarito KO'd "Six Heads" Lewin in 2 rounds. Mayorga who is known as a heavy handed fighter stop "Six Heads" In what 5 or 6 rounds?
Like I said you probably never followed Margarito career. If you have you would know he had this type he had very hands since early in his career. Again you're talking about his last three opponents before Shane he looked unstoppable. But, he didn't have plaster in chin so he wasn't unstoppable and before those 3 opponents. Before he even fought Williams he fought Sebastian Lujan? Did you see that fight? Did you see what Margarito power did to Lujan ear?
So my point is that he showed power since early, very early in his career. That is why I asked you twice when do you believe he started using the plaster? Which you still haven't answered. All you said was that it is irrelevant. But, from this latest post I get the feeling you think it was after the P-Will lost. I am wrong please correct me.
It is irrelevant, due to the original topic at hand. The original topic was about him vs DLH right now. Not then. But now. So. if we're talking about now, we have to compare how he was in last few fights. Which is why I'm bringing up his last few fights.
Even if he did have the plaster wraps in his fights with Clottey and Williams, it doesn't necessarily mean that they're gonna get knocked out. Williams is tough as nails, although he was hurt. Clottey is one of the toughest fighters in the sport, today.
I don't care how he was in his prime. I don't know the exact date in which he started using plaster wraps. I just know that he didn't use them in his last fight and he looked terrible.
But, to answer the Shane fight could of been the first time. And, here is why. After the Cotto fight Marg thought since Oscar said he will fight the winner that he was going to fight Oscar next. But, since Oscar straightout punked out of the fight. His next opponent was going to be a rematch with Joshua Clottey in November. However, since Clottey suffered an injury in the Zab Judah fight he was not medically cleared to fight in November. So now Margarito does not have a dancing partner for the rest of year. Now if you believe that reports that I read was that he was seen in the Mosley-Mayorga and got big and was fat... Out of shape. They said he got really out of shape. That is his fault. Then when the Shane fight got signed during training report was that he was getting handled by his sparring partners. Report has it that it was his worst next to the Joshua Clottey training camp of his career. Mind you for the Cotto fight everything went great. He was in great shape when he enter camp and was one of he best training camps of his career when he was preparing for Cotto. But, for Shane it was different. And, also they had a rematch with Cotto lined up if they beat Shane. I could see where Capetillo was not so happy with how camp went that he tried to cheat against Mosley. Just so they can get by in this fight and fight Cotto in another PPV event in the summer.
That right there is a theory on why he used it for Shane and not Cotto...
That's a terrible theory and one made up of a fan-boy. I'm sorry, but Margarito is a fraud.
MAYBE he did have that power in his prime. Whether or not he had it is irrelevant to how he'll be remembered. He'll be remembered as a fraud for attempting to use an illegal weapon against an opponent and there will be a question mark surrounding his whole career.
I'm done with this little debate. It's clear that you're very biased. You'd probably look up to Margarito, even if he admitted that he used plaster throughout his whole career.
None of those guys brought the pressure Margs would've brought.
Why do you think DLH backtracked when he said he'd fight the winner of Cotto-Margs when Margs won?
He knew damn well, he couldn't get into a war.
That was against plaster-equipped Margarito. Now that he's been exposed, it's different.
What makes you say that? How long do you think Margarito was using plaster?
The total amount of time that he used plaster is irrelevant. What is relevant is that he definitely didn't have them in the Mosley fight and he looked terrible. And I'm not completely basing it off of what Mosley did to him.
What makes you think he won't have the power? See that is where you lose me... Are you saying it just cuz he didn't hurt Shane? That is cuz Shane is totally different. Shane has a better chin then Oscar, more of a thick coat then, Shane can take punches better than Oscar... Margarito has the power look at what he did to Sergio Martinez, Antonio Diaz, Six Heads Lewis, Manuel Gomez, Sebastian Lujan, and the first Kermit Cintron fight... All the ones in the bold were Ring Magazine top 10 WWs at the time. And, all of them were before he even lost to Paul Williams. He has showed power throughout his whole career. Again that is why I asked when do you believe if started using plaster? Because, I find it hard to believe that this man fooled everybody, all the commissions, all the trainers, in every single fight that he had....
In his three previous fights, it looked as if he had amazing power and he looked unstoppable. He was then caught with plaster in his wraps, before his last fight. The plaster was removed. He didn't hurt his opponent once. It doesn't take a genius to realize that his power was from the plaster. It does take a blind fan-boy to ignore common sense, however.
Answer me this: why would he try and use plaster against an old, past his prime fighter like Mosley, but not against a young, prime version of Cotto and/or Cintron.
You are stating because of the way DLH looked against Forbes...
And that's not the right way to look at it.
I implied that DLH put on a good performance. Nowhere did I imply that Margarito fought like Forbes.
Pryor vs Arguello I - Considered the fight of the decade (1980s)
Hagler vs Hearns - FOTY and considered the greatest 3 rounder
DLH vs Mosley I - Good action fight and pretty close
Pacquiao vs Marquez I or II - Good action fight and pretty close
Oscar won't be the one giving it to him though. But, I would love to see that fight just to see Oscar get his ass beat. And, I would pay double if they let Margarito have bricks in his gloves and without no ref or ringside doctor...
Don't let the DLH from the Pacquiao fight fool you. He was weight-drained. A 154 pound DLH would give Margarito a worse beating than Mosley did.
Don't let the DLH that you been seeing in the last 4 or 5 yrs fool you of being a prime DLH... After the Shane rematch DLH stop being a full time fight and became a part time fighter, full time promoter... DLH does not have the stamina to beat a Margarto... Margarito would whoop that ass. I don't understand why people like this is the same DLH of 1997. That was long ago get over it... The DLH and Judah have been the most overrated fighters in the last 5yrs...
I didn't say it was a prime DLH.
I just think that if the DLH from the Forbes/Mayweather fight shows up, Margarito would get a beating.
