don't know.
doubt anyone will.
no one even has the number of how many fighters there are let alone ratio of stances.
southpaws are more common in asia than in america or europe though.
I have heard that too not to many southpaws back in the day but now a days there number is increasing although I have only sparred 2 southpaws.
hamed was a switch hitter and could KO from either stance. hagler also could do it.
switch hitting mostly isn't useful, especially if you don't know how to do either right.
I see so what your saying is quality over quantity. Better to have A class stance then a Two B class fighting stance. Makes sense but switch hitting seems like a cool style to watch too.
tee hee
But for real, I would like to see Judah get back on his feet.
Yeah his fighting tomorrow I believe hopefully he can win in a devastating fashion and make some noise then he can get back and maybe get a fight with either mosley, margarito or pacman maybe hatton or khan that would be good too. But only if he wins BIG tomorrow then that would position him in the right direction not just right away ofcourse
maybe if he got a different trainer and different attitude.
Why do people keep saying different trainer????
:wtf: is wrong with joel???? That people bitch about
Awesome thanks, Good point on him being more skilled compare to other mexicans and thats no disrespect it just how they are molded I did notice he has a very good jab and seems like a calm guy in there
GOOD CALL on Jens Pulver!!!!
Jens did box pro and he is super respectful of boxing his like a poor mans oscare in a way his compact and scrappy with good combo although no were NEAR as good as oscar but thats alright.
Jen is very very unbiased and realistic and super respectful to boxing
Rampage Jackson ever since joining the UFC, his boxing has been sick. Great counters with sick power. His textbook counter KO's on Liddell & Wandy are amazing.
Frankie Edgar's display on Sean Sherk at UFC 98 was phenominal. Also as stated above BJ has some sick boxing in MMA, just watch his display on Sherk.
Also the Diaz brothers Nick & Nate have had great success with boxing in MMA. Nate just showed it last month again Melvin Guillard that was a pretty good fight. Also Nick Diaz vs Frank Shamrock & Scott Smith.
Are you ****ing tripping bro????
All the guys you mentioned you are right about them no doubt but nate didn't is a TERRIBLE boxer one of the worse his very lazy bad sloppy footwork no power Melvin isn't a great boxer either his just a powerful puncher and Melvin was beating him except Melvin got stupid and got jujitsu'ed
well yeah PAC but what about the 90s I watching the highlight of 90s boxing and I saw this guy italian looking I think he was coming forward with combos I forgot his name I was hoping by making this thread I would stumble upon him.
I forgot his name but he roy jones size or something maybe not I dont know dude was ripped I think italian and he was coming forward non-stop with punches and he may or may not may have had a hair dew it was a long time ago but seeing that made me interested in boxing
EDIT: I will look in to salvador sanchez he might be the guy
You're not talkin about Arturo Gatti (rip) are you?..he's much smaller than RJJ lol..
Maybe it was gatti it was a short clip I don't know lots of boxers are ripped with broad shoulder.
But anyway it was some dude running in with combination but the combos had technique and power it wasn't some sloppy shit it was good powerful combos and he literally running at his opponent this was few years ago and the clip was like 10-15 seconds or so so I am not sure.
Its more painful to get punched/striked then to get tackeled to the ground.
Also if you guys are interested in mma you should check out joe riggs a boxer/mma fighter his old fighters where awesome and he has a boxer stance that has worked very well all through out his career
further proof that MMA is a joke compared to boxing. Boxing is the only TRUE combat sport.
I still wouldent say its a joke it has some alright qualites like crazy judo throws.
But boxers are tougher/have more time since its cheaper to learn how to box and in a street fight a good jab would **** up anyone who doesnt understand striking
Awesome thanks DLT
I am currently watching the mayweather-corrley and WOW what a fight!!!!
Its awesome lol I take the apology back **** corely IS hitting him hard a bunch of times and he looks good but at the same time floyd mayweather is uncharacterisly very aggressive. Lol floyd sr calls from prison to tell his handler not to fight southpaw
Btw is southpaw realy that much better then orthdox???? Other then them being less common then orthdox sparring wise???
My bad on the bunch of times I was prolly thinking about something else.
I just remember that one part for some reason I thought it happend bunch of times.
Anyway glad floyd won since I am a mayweather fan but I definatly am interested to getting to know the rest of the guys in the lower level as well.
I think he ment how good he was in his prime, not now.
Corley at his best could always push the best and was a pretty capable fighter. Him and Zab Judah was a very close fight, him and Zab also had a fight in a bar.
He also did make 2 defences of his WBO Title
Never heard that before whats the backstory???
I used to love zab judah until he backed out from his fight with Antonio diaz:Flush:
Also his lack of training and attitude isnt exactly inspiring either
I just watched chavez fight and it was Great!!! Thanks
Also I do not understand the mayweather hate. Dude is just trying to sell fights. Just like dana white does what he does for the ufc and he gets less hate even though his not a fighter.
Thank you for the response and I will now watch the mayweather vs n'dou fight
Mayweather is the best, ill always watch his fights, he is the most skill boxing ive seen.
I agree his awesome and misunderstood and I cant believe dana white and ufc talk bad about him his fights are exciting as hell!!!
His got Amazing footwork and a left hook from HELL!!!! and he makes other world class boxers look as fast my grandmother.
Whenever he moves he never oversteps thus keeps him in perfect balance.
You could also see in comparing when he was fighting marcuz the way he moved was as like horse vs car (pbf)
The only thing marcuz hit him was with a punch which Floyd smiled after that it was all mayweather and he showed he could do it better!!!
cotto also use to do it alot..it is effective but it is also easy to get caught off balance if you're fighting an experianced fighter who can time your switches
Thats a good point I find when I am moving back I am somewhat vulnerable in terms of not having my footing on the floor
I see this is good to know.
I definatly am interested in developing bothsides although I still need to have a greater side base wise so I can always fall on something.
Also I am wondering how many boxers know how to fight both sides profiecntly???
lol for sure the mmaforum had a boxing section and the attitude and the level of maturity is completely different there is no bashing or acting like roid junkies.
In all fairness to grappling I actually dont mind wrestling/judo (stand up grappling)
As crazy as it sounds having some of that clinch strength is good for boxing specially for me I am the smallest guy in are club for now (5'8 145) the other guys are like over 5'11 and over 180 and my boxing coach said some stand up wrestling/judo is actually does me good for getting out of corner or just moving ring bullies around.
But!!!! by NO MEANS!!!! do I wanna roll around in the ground I tried that shit and its very very overrated in mma a good boxer with some clinch strength would wreck shop.
Look at Marcus Davis a boxing low-level turned ufc contender although I like few of them strikers but yeah mma just doesn't do it for me anymore...
