Since when does taking a senseless beating make someone a warrior? Not that I like Rahman because I don't but, I've boxed and if blood is running in your eye and you can't see punches coming that is an unnecessary risk. Thats exactly what Rahman said. He couldn't see the punches coming. Fans kill me especially ones that never boxed with how they determine what it is to be a warrior. Who is going to feed these dudes when they are in their mid to late forties and can't stop shaking. Tell me what fan is coming to a fighter's aid then? If the man can't see he can't see. Nothing close to being a bitch if you can't compete.
I am just a fan. I have only boxed in high school as part of PE class but that was quite enough for me to become quite respectful of those who participate in the most gruelling respectable sport there is. So I don't think you can dismiss all fans as not being concerned about the issues boxers face.
I think someone who is in a sport so disorientating must have a team that they can rely will have his best interest at heart when it comes to the fighter's health and well being. I tend to believe that Oscar's corner completely failed him in this regard. After the ref waved his hand Brooks was trying to get him water to help freshin him up to go on fighting so the ref had to reiterate to brooks No "the fight is over". Just inexcusable.
