Sorry, but Fury beat the man and became the man. Joshua best an untitled Wldamir. That’s doesn’t not make him them man. I don’t like Fury, but His nuts are much larger than Joshua’s.
He beat Vlad and then hid for 3 years, if you’re “the man” you don’t hide.
TBH, even though he's one generation removed from Nigeria (or was he actually born there?), a lot of Americans, after listening to and watching AJ for ten minutes, might not even consider the dude black. To us, he comes across as phony, especially when trying to talk smack. I don't say any of this to be intentionally disrespectful of anyone.
Ironic given that so much of the American persona and national psyche is phoney. Everyone putting on a front and overly concerned with what other people think of them. Particularly black American culture with all that bling, “hoes”, trash talk, bollocks, etc... it’s all completely phoney. Rarely have I met many genuine Americans who are just willing to be real and not give a **** what other people think.
The venue is obviously T-Mobile Arena. Hearn knows that. The date would be mutually agreed upon by both parties to maximize PPV buys. These excuses make no sense.
More nonsense. It's obviously not going to be in England. They're not going to overpay AJ just to bring the fight to AJ's home. Even Hearn has admitted the fight would make more in Vegas and obviously part of the motivation for overspending on the fight is to maximize Wilder's chances of winning.
There's no rematch. Hearn knows that. That was clearly specified in the offer.
AJ's existing sponsorships and how to navigate that would be mutually agreed upon in negotiations. That doesn't stop Hearn from saying, "we agree in principle on 50 million, depending on the other details obviously, so let's start negotiating the other details."
No, they look like schmucks now refusing to accept the amount, 50 million, they specifically requested.
If they really want the fight, it'll get done. Haymon's not going to blow the deal over the color of the ring posts or which energy drink sponsors the fight. Hearn is just making excuses. None of this makes sense.
But Beyoncé is performing at the T-Mobile Arena on that night. What are they going to do, have a double-header?
I said that's Joshua would be rich without respect. So far what I've said rings true. His fans say he sees rich so they don't see any problems, lmao. When you're hit in the face with tomatoes in public, you'll see the anger-if you understand that expression lol.
Yes just like the expression - ‘if you drink gravy from the fountain the pixies will come dancing’.
What I find weird is that everyone is like .. yeah this need to happen isn’t be next 2-3 for right fights but no one is getting really worked up.
But with the AJ-Wilder it’s all ones ducking or the other is ducking or the promoters are to blame if it do any happen immediately in their next fight.
Yet ages if the fighters are pretty similar. And also in both scenarios one of the two fighters went through the effort/risk of becoming a unified champion.
If as Wilder claims, he has been focused on Joshua for so long, his promoter should have had an offer ready for Joshua’s team straight after the Parker fight to come and fight Wilder in the US? The guy has been world champ for over 3 years and the US market is way bigger than the UK. His people should have taken control and made the first offer to Joshua instead of waiting for Hearn to make an offer.
Ah I see, sounds like you think it was just a negotiation tactic to push up Hearn's offer and wasn't serious. Well, that makes a lot of sense and explains why the offer was from Wilder directly and not his people, cos he can kinda play dumb on the contract stuff and get back to negotiating a better price and it would probably work % out like you say in this case.
Hearn could seriously hang him out to dry though at this point, cos if they talk and agree what the $50m buys, then Wilder going to be left with a massive $100m+ burden dangling around his neck.
My read on the stalling is the long game. The fight is going to happen, fans should relax on that. But, I think Hearn feels the need to stay in control of the AJ brand and AJ roadshow and $50m is a nice headache to have, but probably still not enough that he wants to hand over his prized possession.
That's what A Side is all about, calling the shots, running the show. They don't want to fight in the US, they don't want to walk to the ring from this side or that, or attend this conference or that, they want control. That's the hesitance.
You’re right of course, Hearn doesn’t want to give up control of the promotion of his top earning fighter.
Wilder has called AJ’s bluff by making him the $50m offer he asked for ...
But I don’t understand why Haymon made the offer just over 24hrs before a planned meeting to discuss Hearn’s original $12.5m offer and with a 24hr deadline. Haymon must have known AJ wouldn’t accept their offer without a sit down meeting with Hearn-Haymon to discuss details (despite the bluster of his “I’ll sign the same day” remarks), just like Hearn knew Wilder wouldn’t accept the $12.5m offer without a sit down meeting. There is always negotiation before deals are agreed (never mind contracts signed).
Im sure Haymon can somehow raise $50m guarantee for the biggest HW fight in a decade, to me that’s not the problem.
The problem is the 24hr deadline ensuring the planned meeting wouldn’t go ahead. That’s just playing games, just like Hearn often does (hell when haven’t they been a feature of boxing negotiations). But why cannot grown men who are supposed to be professionals just agree a planned meeting a negotiate in good faith to give the world the fight it wants.
Pathetic on both sides.
My main concern is when is Breezy going to start being black? . Wilder is Making breezy look like the byant gumble of boxing.
What does “being black” mean? My best friend is Fijian, an ex-girlfriend of mine was Aboriginal, a close-work colleague is from Nigeria, the #8 in my rugby team is British (of Ghanaian extraction) and my brothers (soon to be) brother-in-law is black American.
I don’t know, I just feel a little lost at the moment after that dickhead from my country did not what he did in NZ. I don’t like all this racial talk.
I don't get why people are getting so worked up about two dangerous and flawed world champions not rushing to clash .. boxing history is littered with this. Ali was fighting some average boxers in between those big fights against Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Liston, etc.. but he did take those fights and this fight will happen sooner rather than later.
It's not like Joshua has been ducking important fight either. He has made an effort to unify, with 3 of his 6 world title bouts being for new belts (eg. Martin, Vlad and Parker) in only 21 fights overall.
What has Wilder being doing in his 8 world title bouts, he's made no effort to unify, in 40 fights overall? Why didn't he try to fight Vlad?
Don't get me wrong though, I think Wilder has shown improvement in his last two fights and Joshua knows this and probably would like another fight or two to improve, but I also don't doubt that he'd be willing to fight him next if it could be arranged.
Sure .. if you make fans by having one of your entourage wave a massive Russian flag in the ring after the bout in the middle of the biggest Anglo-Russian diplomatic fallout in a generation.
Matchroom Ducking Boxing, with all the garbage fights that is being made by this promotional company, how can we believe this car salesman?
I see what you did there .. very clever
Just because you know how contract law works doesn't mean you know how boxing negotiations typically go down. This is standard procedure all the time. You agree on the money and then try to hammer out the details to get a fight done. Agreeing on the money binds you to nothing. Fights fall apart over the details all the time.
Hearn didn't have to publicly accept anything. All he had to do was email Finkel and say, "if the rest of the terms are negotiated to mutual satisfaction, we would agree with the financial framework you've offered." Then you meet to try to hammer out a deal. But Finkel and Haymon are not going to waste their time meeting with Hearn only for Hearn to say, "well I never agreed to 50, I actually need 60."
Why would it be a waste of time to attend a meeting they’d already agreed to attend? Surely Finkel and Haymon would at least know where they stand and could come out of the meeting and say “well we offered £50m, showed them the letter of guarantee from whatever source and Hearn still said no because he’s ducking.” Or perhaps it may even turn into a negotiation. Shock horror. Or perhaps Hearn or Haymon could just pick up the phone and call the other.
Thinking more and more that neither side wants this fight next and they are giving it the marination treatment. Probably laughing at all of us wasting our time debating crap none of us re involved in.
I was siding with Wilder after they called AJs bluff with the £50m offer.
But I don’t think this is AJs doing.
My take is that Hearn wants:
(1) Home advantage as he doesn’t want AJ’s biggest fight to be his first overseas fight.
(2) The biggest UK stadium available - Wembley at 90k to
maximise tickets.
(3) A big launch for DANZ, which is a £1Bn investment.
He was hoping that would all happen in Sept but Canelo/GGG scuppered that from a US promotional point of view.
Now that he can’t get his big Sept DANZ launch, he doesn’t care if he has to wait until April for those 3 thing to align.
It’s not about ducking, purely business.
Besides looking back at DW’s record, he was fighting someone called Marlon Hayes (23-10) in his 21st fight, while AJ was in his 2nd unification fight against a World Champ who was (24-0).
Wilder might suddenly be in a rush to unify but AJ has been doing the donkey work gathering all the trinkets together in tougher fights (ie. VLAD and Parker). DWs only equivalent fight is Ortiz (although to be fair he did try to fight Povetkin).
Loma is 5’7” and Mikey 5’6” but the size difference makes Loma look like he’s standing 6’ behind him in the background. Reminds me of Father Ted explaining perspective: http://youtu.be/e4XFUc6175k
One problem I see with that is who controls the editing and replays? Networks are inclined to show more replays of the home or big star fighter landing their shots
Not suggesting they get replays or even watch on video, just perhaps that they get to watch from a better vantage point similar to the view that cameras have rather than at canvas level. But I agree the AI option would be worth a look.
Well I usually stay away from critiquing fighters statements but AJ is a pure foot in mouth type of guy.
"I like to beat them in the ring. I’ve never heard of a record for winning press conferences or stare downs.”
Yeah that record would go to the greatest fighter of all time Mohammed Ali, with the runner up Mike Tyson, and possibly Mayweather. The insinuation that trash talk out the ring doesn't help in the ring is ridiculous. Does it work for everyone nope, but it also can't be dismissed, ask big George Forman about it, it's one of the stories he loves to tell about the "Rumble in the jungle". AJ's pompous, my schit don't stink demeanor is pretty damn annoying. I mean I hate when Wilder yells bomb squad but at least he's entertaining, AJ just comes off as a Self absorbed narcissist which is amplified by his dullness. Could be wrong about AJ but that is how he comes off.
Joshua is dull as dishwater, but who cares about the personality or entertainment-value of a boxer out of the ring? Just worry about what goes on in the ring.
Both have had exciting fights and dull fights, but styles make fights and my guess is Wilder-Joshua should be a cracker.
Tyson I think is a good guy but he don't half come out with some.
If by “good guy” you mean a ****phobic, bigoted, anti-semitic, drug-cheat .. then yeah.
“So if you're going to the movies and it's more than one mile away, you report it.”
**** I’m all for clean sport but imagine having to live like that 24/7.
Because if I buy a case Ill drink them all then. If I limit a 6 pack. Then i can buy another one the next day. Lol! No for real if work the next day I buy just enough get a decent buzz without the hangover.
Hahaha fair enough .. as an Aussie I am on your page.
Dave seems happy chilling at Babestation. He should quit boxing and take up p0rn. I'd watch it. :wank::wank:
Is that where he gets the nickname from ....?
He cant fight Fury next if Fury wins.. There is a rematch clause and if Fury wins Wilder v Fury 2 will happen again.
Not on the contract I read, unless they’ve added clauses since it passed over my desk.
First of all.. eddie the snake headed b*stard offered wilder 12.5 million.. Eddie the snake headed said AJ would KO wilder in 3rds. Easy fight. Gay jay said he would eat him.. gay jay said if they offered him half.. he would take the fight tomorrow.. 50 million dollar guarantee!!! All of a sudden.. no verbal agreement.. just a" lets roll.. " did parker have to go thru all this for a unification? An wilder is the easier fight than parker? Hearn said this is a 40 million dollar fight to explain hearns 12.5 million b.s lowball offer. Stay stupid my friend.
Actually the Parker fight was worse to negotiate.
I get what people are saying about the contract being drawn up after the detailed negotiations take place, so why is Hearn asking for a contract up front. But I also cannot remember anyone agreeing a fight fee before any meetings have taken place.
HW's PPV numbers in UK for fkn PRACTICALLY FREE! I mean I spend almost that on 2 six packs of Modelo Beer.
Haye/Ruiz 177k buys
Haye/Harrison 223k
Klitz/Haye 1.1 buys not bad for almost FREE!
Klits/Fury 545k WTF??? Almost same 200k more buys and it COST $55 less than Wilder/Fury??
AJ/Wyte 420K for a free fight?? Ewww!
AJ/Martin 500K WOW!!!!
AJ/Breazeale 512k
AJ/Molina 450k buys
AJ/Klitz 1.5 mill buys made what $8 million more than Fury/Wilder.
AJ/Takam 887k made less money.
AJ/Parker 1.5 million again fights cost $20.
Whyte/Parker 474k buys
AJ/Ped 1.1 million made LESS $$$
Not really sure what point you are trying to make ...
That US fans get ripped off by paying 3 times more than UK fans or that the US has a population almost 5 times more than the UK?
Exactly lol yet people will repeat this nonsense.
Because he knew:
(a) Fury will still sell tickets with his mouth rather than his exciting style;
(b) It would be easier to set up a fight with Joshua;
(c) He wants to be the dominant promoter.
Fury fights in general are quite boring but that not to say I don’t recognise and sometimes admire his skills, footwork, etc .. particularly for a big guy.
It’s just that for the most time the fights we remember with fondness are the exciting ones where guys went toe to toe.
