Mike Coppinger tweeted that the weigh-in happened at 9AM, giving Devin Haney 36 hours to rehydrate, and quote, "This is the typical weigh-in time for all Matchroom and UFC fights so nothing out of the ordinary."
What is the explanation here? This is a Top Rank boxing card, not a Matchroom or UFC card, so Coppinger's excuse for the early weigh-in does not fly.
They did for Pacquiao winning a junior middleweight title with a 150 pound limit. Or Canelo winning and defending a middleweight title with a 155 limit. This didn't start with Haney or Spence.
Pacquiao and Canelo were catchweights in the respective division. As was Mayweather vs Canelo. Spence defending welterweight titles over welterweight is something new is all. Though I suppose Ray vs Lalonde introduced it.
You can turn these rules on and off? Then again Spence was due to defend a welterweight belt(s) at 154lbs, so I guess anything goes nowadays.

I could be wrong, but I think they changed it a couple years ago, that if more than one belt was on the line, the rehydration clause wasn’t in effect.
Actually, this is true. It's why Canelo needed a special contract clause against Jacobs but the extra 7 hours still kinda stinks

IBF rehydration clause isn’t in effect according to Coppinger

It's not uncommon for the real weigh in to be in tye morning,, although it's much more common at heavyweight where they don't have to make weight, the public weigh in is just for snow, the commission already took their official weight earlier in the day.
It does happen at other weights too though.
Give examples of any high profile boxing fight where this also happened.
Devin can’t gain more than 10 lbs over night anyway unless he’s going to forfeit his IBF title.

Loma deserves credit regardless of the outcome, he is fighting a middleweight tonight.
Haney deserves credit if he beats Lomachenko. People like you believe Lomachenko is better than Ali and Mayweather. If that was the case the weight wouldn't matter considering what Mayweather did to bigger fighters. So Haney deserves a lot of credit if he wins.
Done for Haney's safety? You are greatly mistaken. Bill Haney ensured his son could get as much time to pack on the pounds as possible. They know they are overmatched in sell, so they are doing everything they can to try to get the edge and advantage before the fight starts. When you have 20 pounds extra weight than the guy you're fighting, you can take more punishment because the punches are not as strong, and you can dish out more punishment with that extra weight to leverage into the attack.
I personally call it cheating. Others call it A-side privilege.
It back fires eventually, using weight draining tactics.
We have seen it time and time again, in this modern era of boxing 'Under the day before weigh in rule'.
Is it going to back fire against Haney? Has he fought one fight too many at 135 pound limit?
Maybe on Saturday night, TONIGHT the boxing World and Haney will find out.
It is a fact that any athlete who uses weight draining tactics, during fight preparation 'Will suffer from chronic long term negative effects on their conditioning'.
And the only way they can negate those effects on the conditioning, is by moving up in weight.
Note: All the points you are making are right, but using weight draining tactics also come with a trade off 'A consequence over the long term' etc.
Are you new to boxing? That is fairly common, every other weigh in someone pushes someone
It is part and parcel but Loma has been nothing but respectful and professional (as always) haney has been coming out with all this yip yap and negative attitude for no reason seems scared to me
Not sure why but there you go. You have your reason for outrage and when Loma loses you can blame the early weigh in.
Loma is going to put Haney on his arse at least once in this fight.

I hope he gets a fine for pushing Loma was uncalled for and childish. I hope the big nosed simpleton gets destroyed by hi tech and schooled.

It won't help him. Haney is going down
The ABC Regulatory Guidelines state that the weigh-in must occur between 24 and 12 hours of the schedule bout. That's what I always thought and seems to be the rules.

That would make sense
I said 11 in the morning , usually the main event is the next night around that time
That would make it 24 hours or less in case someone needed extra time to lose weight
