The only way to beat him is by pure boxing. Bivol and Mayweather.
His style is closest to James Toney. Except he hits harder. Toney's style allowed him to move up and straight up out slug Evander Holyfield before knocking him out. Defense too good!
If you walk into the fire against Canelo, he knocks you out. Bivol said straight up Canelo hits harder than Zurdo(a natural cruiser).
He had Killa Kov and GGG pump a jab going backwards. lmao
Canelo should fight Benavidez. His trainers honestly don't know CHIT about boxing. They legit picked the worst style match up for him.
That is why Canelo has been begging to fight Beterbiev
That is why he chose Bivol to get to Beterbiev
Then he mentioned Makabu to get to Beterbiev
That lead to him mentioning Usyk , you know , to get to Beterbiev
See fughface all roads lead to Beterbiev
GTFOH
You literally are a waste of fughin skin
CLOWN
Canelo brought up competing at HW against Usyk himself. Before getting humbled by Bivol.
his team don't know CHIT about boxing. They don't. Canelo could do without his team. He incorporated GGG and Mayweather's DNA into his own after fighting them.
Move on from his team. They are no longer needed.
Beterbiev is actually stylistically a way better fight for Canelo. Beterbiev wouldn't hit Canelo with those hooks he throws.
Certain people in this thread are going to be saying that Canelo should fight Wilder next. Or maybe Francis Ngannou. That would be a freak show fight for sure.

Canelo actually learned a lot from Mayweather in their fight. and No Canelo is more like Toney as they are aggressive counter-punchers, active. Moving forward countering to head and body.
Mayweather is more of a boxer. He counters with 1 or 2 taps and holds. he's not looking to knock anybody out. when you watch his highlights his punches are very light like taps.
Mayweather does what you say initially. Plays boxer from the outside, jabs to the belly. Takes their initial explosiveness out of the equation, changes the game to HIS tempo then plays inside the pocket, deflecting with the shoulder & elbow followed up with a hidden right hand.
That's not unique, man. In fact he started doing that a lot more after he fought GGG the first time and unsurprisingly it's something that Golovkin did well too - GGG actually described his own style one time as an 'aggressive counterpuncher' as I recall. What I do give Canelo enormous crdit for is learning from the fights he had and taking something new from each major opponent - constantly adding wrinkles to his game although that's not been so much in evidence the last few years. Guess there's diminshing returns after a bit.
yup Canelo's style is a fusion of Mayweather and GGG. he learned from both fighters. his final form came out vs GGG 2. His defense is far superior to GGG as he learned from Mayweather. His offense is also far superior to Mayweather as he learned from GGG.
There is someone with this style already, it's James Toney. Aggressive counterpuncher.
Prime James Toney was NOTHING like Canelo. Watch him fight RJJ again. Toney is actually much closer to Mayweather. They both love staying in the pocket and deflecting with the shoulder role and popping you with a right hand.
After Canelo got whipped buy Mayweather he suddenly developed a shoulder role.
Mayweather and James Toney are almost polar opposite to one another.

Canelo is a very unique animal.
He is an aggressive counter-puncher. He comes forward on you WHILE countering you. This is why he froze Callum Smith up. He came forward and Smith couldn't land any of his KO shots while getting countered.
Walking forward on KOVALEV and knocked him out. James Toney style.
Benavidez would get countered all day before getting pinned on the ropes. He has slow feet, he ain't going anywhere.

Haters selling Canelo short. They are levels in this game and Canelo is at a very high one. He has continually gone up in weight to challenge himself and lost. Benavides would be a good fight because he has some momentum behind him but David will get hit good very often.
Hard counters slow downs active pressure fighters.
Canelo is even better than Toney.
he hits much harder pound for pound and he isn't lazy in training. Toney would legit not train.
He is more disciplined than Toney was.
Plant looked like prime Roy Jones Jr out there against the MEXICAN MONSTER LMao I was like LMAO
negro please for two rounds I'm a ring that look bigger than my backyard, and I have a big backyard.
can you post those fights? i haven't watched them.
I saw the RJJ fight and the Nunn fight. He was soundly outboxed in both. He caught Nunn at the end tho. RJJ is the only fight I saw where Toney got soundly beaten.
Looked like Bivol vs Canelo.
Also saw Jirov and Holyfield fights. Both come forward sluggers fighters. Toney feasted on them
I don't know how to post but they're on youtube.
Holyfield was a fossil and shot to pieces so there's no stock in that. Jirov was a decent fighter who never beat a ranked fighter in his career, and that fight was competitive.
Toney was soundly beaten by Tiberi (unranked) where Tiberi was robbed and he was soundly beaten by Thadzi aswell.
You can say one on hand yes Toney was rarely "soundly beaten" but on the other hand you could also say he rarely "soundly" beat anyone (of note).
Fights that Toney arguably lost in his prime;
Sanderline Williams
Merqui Sosa
Reggie Johnson
McCallum x2
Fights he did lose in his prime;
Tiberi
Roy Jones
Montel Griffin x2
Drake Thadzi
I'd agree Canelo's probably better than Toney.
I just don't know why you said Toney hasn't been outslugged when he got outslugged in his prime by C level fighters multiple times.

James Toney got "outslugged" by Dave Tiberi and Drake Thadzi so there's that.

David will have to box smart and not get greedy in the beginning rds. Canelos going to look to counter punch from rd1. David throws a fast lead right and a good up jab. Those are 2 good punches against Canelo. In the mid rds when Canelo starts coming forward, that'll be the most interesting because David will have to open up and HE WILL get hit. But If he can take Canelos best shots, he will beat Canelo 7-5.
if the fight is actually 7-5 then Canelo won 8-4
do you even watch boxing?
Canelo knocks him out at this stage at LHW. Canelo's team is too dumb to see reality. Canelo is like James Toney. The only way to beat someone like Toney is by outboxing him.
YOU CANNOT OUTSLUG A JAMES TONEY. Dude stood in front of Evander Holyfield and made him miss before knocking him out. Defense too good.
Canelo would make Beterbiev miss ALL DAY and punish him like Toney did Jirov.
