Plant's got skills but to fight a pressure fighter for 12 rounds and win a decision you've got to be elite.
It takes great defense (Floyd hardly ever got hit square), great stamina and enough offense to keep the other fighter honest.
TBE? No way! But most def the best of his era and really what more can you ask?
Floyd would have never fought those types of fights. Margarito was a mild version of Benavidez yet it never happened. He'd rather retire young and come back later.
Not really.
All Floyd needed was the refs(Bayless one of them), the judges, th ring size, glove size and a little IV and he was set.
Don't forget the opposition had to be short, short armed flat footed guys who didn't speak English

- - Kenny Bayliss, Joe I'm Fairly infirm Cortez, ect, plus TBE TUE, and a crack daddy corner, not to mention USADA and Vegas Commish and their judges in your pocket.
Thanks for the reminder...:hitit:

Floyd should have 2-3 losses on his record that's a fact.
Quit trying to pass your OPINION off as fact.
He didn’t have a chance , at the beginning of the fight cause Kenny would jump in the minute they came chest to chest
Don’t et me wrong , maybe David is terrible fighting inside but at least give him the opportunity
Also , towards the end , Benavidez was hitting him with forearms and elbows exactly cause Bayless wouldn’t stop the clinching
Had he said something , then the fight would of been different and probably David would end up knocking Plant out
I Just believe had Bayless done his job properly , all this could of been avoided as one man came to fight and the other came to survive
Sad to say but it I still What it is
Boxing referee might be the hardest job in sports. No real consensus on how to do the job properly because each state’s commission has its own rules. Fighters are always pushing the envelope trying to get away with as much as possible. And having your every move criticized and critiqued. It’s not a job I’d ever want to do personally.
Let Mayweather retires in peace. He was a cherry-picker of high levels and the beneficiary of many gift decisions, everything went according to the Las Vegas plan and also he kept his 0, so don't move it.

I agree with you on Bayless to some extent but I disagree with you on Benavidez trying to work early in the fight. He looked like Pacquiao in the Floyd fight. Guys that know how to fight on the inside don’t look at the referee when they’re getting tied up. I don’t consider Benavidez a good fighter on the inside. And the Benavidez that fought Plant gets beat up badly by Canelo.

I know you’ve seen Bayless in action before and it’s usually the norm for his fights , where he don’t let you work out of the clinches
Yes , he did let it happen towards the end of the fight but don’t tell me at the beginning Benavidez wasn’t working out of it , he never had the chance to cause Kenny would break it up
I’ve seen his act before and it’s always the same , hence the reason Floyd would choose him for his fights
Take away the inside fighting and half the battle is already won

Bayless will let you fight on the inside if you’re willing to work. Early in the fight Benavidez was not trying to work when Plant was clinching. When Benavidez had Plant hurt later in the fight Bayless had no problem letting Benavidez work on the inside when Plant was trying to tie Benavidez up.

Oh , I get high with a little help from my friends ( Kenny Bayless )
Wish May would of done it with no help but most of the time there was a helping hand

A World level boxer puncher vs A World level pressure fighter.
That was effectively what stylistic match up, Plant vs Benavidez was.
And Benavidez applied his style and attributes more effectively to win the fight.
Now? There was many times during Mayweather's career were 'He was fighting against World level pressure fighters, brawlers, boxer punchers and pretty much every style'.
The reason why Mayweather was able to be competitive and beat all of these styles and fighters 'Was because Mayweather Junior skill for skill was a World level fighter in most area's of boxing' And in his best area's he was Super elite.
So when a fighter come's up against Mayweather Junior, they were facing a multi-dimensional fighter.
I honestly don't think there are many top level fighters active today who are multi-dimensional fighters 'And operate at World level or above in every single area of fighting'.
At Heavyweight Tyson Fury, to his credit gives it a go in all area's 'And it is this trait for me, that sets him apart from many fighters at Heavyweight. Especially within this era of Heavyweights'.
Fury is barely world level in some area's, but the important thing is? That he has a go in all area's and is solid enough.
Usyk for example, has not really shown much of a inside game 'But this is a area, that he will have to show vs Tyson Fury if and when they ever fight'.
