Where are the fights?
All I see is a bunch of part time fighters fighting every 1.5 years vs tomato cans for paychecks and robbing fans of their money.
This sport is on the verge of death until all these promotional companies cease to exist and the PPV model re-worked.
The only spark of interest the sport has is a potential Benevidez vs Canelo fight, and some of the 135-140lb potential fights, and they are in no rush to fight.
Basically just taking easy fights for $ until a cash grab and a retirement plan.
Everytime I see a potential fight it's always "we'll fight in 2024, well fight in two years". It's disgraceful.
I've been watching boxing for damn near 25 years and a hardcore fan. Spent more money on tickets than you can imagine but it's at its lowest point right now. Something needs to change - and fast!
Its been a longtime since I've been legitimately excited and planned a day around a boxing event. I mean, there are fights I look forward too, and have really enjoyed. But, none I'm counting down the days for the past couple years atleast.
I remember as a kid, watching WWF wrestling.
You'd only see the Big names wrestling jobbers every week, while talking smack about another big name till one of the ppv's came and they'd wrestle. I feel like boxing has taken that model. Unfortunately it's failing with everything being ppv now, and not worth the price.
Boxing is definitely dead. What we're seeing is a ghost.
Look at what fans in these forums do, defend ducks, promoters as if they're their own brothas. Man I don't defend my own brother for doing nasty things. Luckily, I don't have that kind of brother.
I don't think boxing will ever die but it sure seems to be in a downward spiral. 2023 is 51 years for me being a boxing fan and I still continue to enjoy watching boxing matches. One thing that bugs me recently is the amount of apparent corruption that is visible. I've always known boxing is corrupt (in fact, that's how I first found out about the word corruption) but it just seems to me that boxing is bleeding corruption on all levels these past few years. One thing that I've always loved about boxing was reading the fan mail in boxing magazines. When I found out about this boxing forum on the Internet, I was delighted to be able to read other boxing fan's thoughts and opinions from all over world. I've learned so much more about boxing over the years visiting and reading this forum. :)
Floyd’s antics killed it. New top boxers just duck and dive, never take risk it’s a joke.
I disagree
Floyd fought plenty of fights people wanted to see when he was on his way up. He played the B-side role to De La Hoya because he knew winning would propel him. He did become more selective once he was older and a star
the big problem today is everyone wants to be Floyd without putting in the work he did. They won’t fight unless they’re the A-side or get crazy money, even though nobody really knows them. That’s why we can’t get good fights made.
It’s easy to point the finger at Floyd, but boxing today would be much better if boxers took Floyd’s route to stardom, fighting guys like Corrales, Castillo, Judah, De La Hoya etc. rather than thinking they’ve already made it.
I quit hoping. But I also prefer more activity regardless of who they fight. Cherries can't all be Rod Salkas. Yeah, upsets and seeing cherrypicker struggle against a cherry is more entertaining to watch, sometimes.
Fans need to change the tone from now on and put more emphasis on activity rather than quality of fights. Fighting once a year and vs a nobody is just not something anybody can stomach.
Any chance inactivity in boxing getting pumped up a bit this year? Man I'm hungry for fights. Don't much care who they fight. Most times cherrypicks gone wrong are more stimulating to watch. Let them pick cherries all they want and hope they fight often.

Until there is a major overhaul and 1 body, like ufc, boxing will be what it is....run by punka$$ promoters Nd corrupt sanctioning bodies. Throw in these supposed "fighters" barely fighting 1 or maybe 2 times a year and the problem with boxing wont go away.
Huge fan of Floyd while he was fighting but you would be a liar to deny his approach in the later years of his career to choose his own contract and conditions along with Haymons insistence on protecting his stable have changed the landscape of boxing
Everyone of these fighters want to be Floyd now
Also to add there's hardly any characters in boxing anymore espeically crazy ppl like iron Mike and mayorga etc
Well you can thank the guys who defended Floyd's cherrypicks and avoidance of fighting any name guy in their prime guys like Lying Iron Dan, Roadblack the fake pal of Jeff Fenech, Larry, Big Dunnce, etc. They defended all the shenanigans to the tune of 200,000 plus posts.

Shakur, Haney, Fury, inoue, all fought twice in 2022 and they will again in 2023.
Specifically pbc guys are the ones not fighting twice a year
I can make 10 lucrative fights easy. These dudes don't wanna fight for real. The clout is enough for them. But it's plenty of money to be made if they would man up
I suspected that's the case. My mistake...

This is the Mayweather legacy whether we like to accept or not... Clenelo was next... where you just rob and cherry pick your way thru and don't worry about the ppl who really see it.
Yep I barely watch fights anymore as I know the outcome....
Every "opponent" seems to have some sort of a title yet never heard of them.
The real boxing fights are starting to feel like they are a big Fantasy Fight as they only seem to happen once every couple years or so.
