Been a huge fan of DAZN for the value that it was, $100 per year.... then they put in the PPV and no way was I paying for that.... but now, they just announced a price increase from $99 per year to $149 per year. Just cancelled my subscription. Yep.... they went from all fights included to paying $150 to watch b-listers that should be free, and then charger more for PPV.
- - DAZN started close to what I've been advocating for years, a legal streaming service broadcasting high level boxing with decent undercards, but they expanded into other sports trying to be all things to all sports fans such that their boxing streaming started to suffer in quality, so sadly, I let my subscription lapse.
Didn't mind the doubling of the $11 monthly charge, but the service was so patchy it was like the ol'days of watching illegal streams. Now their big shots AJ and Canelo are on PPV that might be worth it for some fights, but not on their patchy streaming service. And it appears DAZN is struggling financially though the 2020 Corona Panic has tossed the entirety of the whole world into disorder...only in boxing, folks...:flowers1:
Same exact thoughts, especially about Ak & Barack. Nice guys but how in the world did they get that gig?
yeah idk where they found those two guys, like they went to a random vape shop and found two guys and offered them a boxing show. their boxing knowledge is worse than steven smith and skip bayless and that is saying a lot
Guys just sign up for ProBox TV you can get a yearly subscription for less then what DAZN offers a month ($18.)
The commentary is great with Paulie Malignaggi, Roy Jones, Antonio Tarver etc . Spanish commentary also great with Juan Manuel Marquez
Not only that but they focus on competitive Match Making . You don't have to watch a full card of UK prospects fighting Tuna Cans
my renewal was up in may, realized i bought DAZN like 2 years earlier for Canelo vs GGG when i think it was only $60 a year, that was a good deal at the time, a PPV fight plus a whole year plus I liked the high def fight archives they had.
they already raised the price once but i liked access to the archives. their commentary and shows were stupid and those guys they have barak or whatever dont know **** about boxing.
then they raised the prices yet again but also made canelo vs bivol a full PPV cost, what the fuk is even the point then? what am i paying for DAZN then if you going to charge full PPV prices?
So i cancelled that chit and just streamed the fight, fuk them. I would pay for it if it was reasonable but as a business they have fuked it up.

I knew this was going to happen the second DAZN was announced to the world. Pay 1 price for everything? That's not much different than when MoviePass came out and went down in flames. You would pay 1 price for a MoviePass per month and watch unlimited movies in the theater. How was that NOT going to fail? They probably banked on most people won't actually watch that many movies but just pay monthly to the point where they would have more incoming coming in than going out.
Now with DAZN, it's like, they figure, they lure enough subscribers in, they can rack up those monthly reoccurring payments or better yet lock in those yearly subscriptions. Then eventually get to the point where you're still paying and didn't cancel your subscription but fail to realize the quality of fights or amount of fights going down. Not all subscribers are stupid and would unsubscribe the second they don't like what's to offer. These are the ones that hurt them the most.
I think it is the opposite. When companies have subscriptions at a discount price of a season pass for that matter they like to cover the break even number to support the business. They have to raise prices because they don't have enough subscribers.
The way that it was before was very attractive that you got the ppv without paying for them. Now not only the basic form is more you have to pay for PPV. Not going to pay extra to watch Garcia vs Tagoe or a bunch of local UK fights.
It's a con from the start. Luring people in before increasing the monthly cost and then putting the fights people want to see on PPV. Same as Sky Sports.
The yearly fee will go up again soon.
We’d all be better off if Espn and SHO put more resources into FNF and SHOBox like they had done previously.
DAZN does have good cards in the lighter weights but all the best cards are ppvs. You’re paying for mostly FNF and SHOBox level fighters.

I like to support boxing but I can't justify their increase. I canceled my subscription once reviewing again what content was coming up. They are not going to deliver like they did at the beginning so there is no use to keep it.
To be fair, they’re now being asked to pay big PPV costs
DAZN will say it’s only for big fights but the problem is once they introduce PPV, the standard of what becomes PPV fights becomes lower over time because fighters with profile will demand PPV now they have that function, or they’ll go elsewhere to do PPV, so DAZN will have to start lowering standards just to keep fighters on their books
in time, people in USA will be asked to pay $150 a year plus about 5-6 PPV’s.
Well said.
It’ll only be prospects and Europe cards that are part of the subscription in a year or two
Correct! That's my main issue, I would justify the 50% price increase to $150 per year but they expect that price increase AND to pay for every AJ, Canelo, GGG fight? That's the reason why DAZN was created and how it was marketed in the first place!
Yes, the appeal of the subscriptions was that the top fighters were included.

Nice to hear!
Curious to see how many will continue with the yearly package with the increased price.
They should lose customers. They'd have to greatly increase their content and the quality of it. Working in multiple fractionated markets isn't going to allow them to make enough good fights to justify that price.
Yeah, it's obscene now and they even had the gall to try and charge an extra $15 for the Ryan Garcia PPV vs Tagoe. What a monumental fight. I wouldn't even watch that **** if someone paid me $15.
I paid it lol. And wow was it disappointing. I just watch boxing on TSN (top rank) now.
It's $199.99 in Canada. Or $24.99 a month. I cancelled a couple months ago. Have to tighten the budget and the price just isn't worth it when the only thing I use it for is boxing.
