Crawford’s skills are amazing. Usyks skills are amazing.
Crawford’s resume is very poor. Usyk’s resume is very good.
you can’t be p4p number one without having great opposition.
Breidis, Gassiev and Joshua were all prime quality opponents and beaten in their own back yards.
Who has Crawford beaten at the age of almost 35?
Im not criticizing in any way. Just was doing some searching and came up on this.
Alright sweet.
for the record I think Crawford’s performance puts him at P4P no. 1 now, but that accolade is all about what you’ve done lately. Imo a fairer way to look at it is that all of Inoue Crawford and Usyk are in the convo. Not really any way to separate them tbh.
Crawford’s resume was pretty bad up until recently but he always was amazing with his skills and the eye test. He proved people wrong for sure. The man is a beast and a real killer no doubt now

Hmmm, both are great fighters no doubt but NEITHER is pertinent
I didn’t even realize this was done in 2022. In 2022 to have Crawford over Fury, USYK, Canelo and Inoue is just wrong.
after the Spence claim he is top 3 for sure but to me he’s 3 behind USYK and Inoue.
It wasn't wrong and Fury doesn't even belong on the list.

Not to mention at HW he is consistently the smaller fighter. What USYK is doing is amazing, p4p #1.
Crawford didn’t have this big Spence win back then. He just had underwhelming unification at lower weight.
Usyk had cruiser unification run against beasts and had beaten Joshua at Heavy.

Quick bump to show the discussion back in June 2022.

While I agree that Usyk is currently number 1, Crawfoird's resume at 140 is solid and he has a good win at 147 in porter. He still has more to do to be considered p4p no 1 but this narrative that Crawford hasn't beaten anyone is ridiculous.
Now Inoue, as good as he is, needs to get some more notable wins before being considered.
He needs to unify, it would be a shame not to, then he needs to move up. All the stars are big guys though. Shakur is the nearest big name to Inoues weight and I doubt he will stay at super feather for much longer
Thats fair.
I wouldn’t put Spence above Usyk or Inoue if he beats Crawford only because Spence is a true WW.
I would move him up to 3.
Usyk beats Fury imo he’s #1 unless Crawford beats Spence and then beats Charlo at 154.
Spence himself said he’s not the same after the crash. Crawford’s age might not be so much of a factor because I think sports science and supplements as well as TRT can extend a fighter’s prime well beyond what we saw in the past. I expect boring tense fight with 8-4 result to Crawford. Spence is relentless though and will not give up. Should be a great fight. Glad it’s being made finally now, I got tired of being strung along and gave up on it tbh.
Crawford would be a very live dog at 154 no doubt. Would be nuts if he went there and won.
if Usyk beat Fury Jesus Christ I have no idea where to place him. Could be all time number 1 heavyweight. Surpassing Evander’s achievements by being undisputed at cruiser and heavy while beating the best possible guys (Evander could beat Lennox)
You really rate his win over Gamboa as one of his best?
He had been knocked down 16 times from 126 to 130. And his first fight at 135 vs Darlys Perez was a huge struggle for him.
Right before the Perez fight Gamboa was hurt badly vs Farenas in the 9th round, dropped HARD. Which boxrec omits, idk why.
Really Gamboa was at his best at 126, when fans were clamoring for Gamboa - JuanMa.
135lb Gamboa was about as good, or even a little worse than 147lb Sharmba Mitchell.
This feels like a hindsight analysis. Gamboa was undefeated when he and Crawford met. He may have been hurt in fights, but he won them.
Since when does getting hurt mean more than winning?
It just feels like too many use Crawford’s ww resume to judge his while resume. I don’t think that right.
I think Usyk is above Crawford right now but Bud will get his chance to take the top spot this year hopefully vs Spence.
If that happened then Usyk could take the top spot back if he beat Fury.
Two big ‘ifs’ though in my opinion. I’d pick Spence and Fury in those matchups. Hope we get them.
Again, don’t deflate the guys Crawford beat. Context matters.
You left off Burns in Scotland and Gamboa. I wasn’t even counting Dullorme lol. He’s unified 2 divisions dude that has to count for something.
He didn’t unify hwt yet. I didn’t think he’d lose to AJ. I picked Usyk.
If you favor Usyk fine. Just don’t do it this way.
Crawford earned his spot. If you’re using his inactivity ok. His ww resume is not great other than Porter. Fair criticism.
Just don’t forget all Crawford did when Usyk wasn’t in the Super Series is all I’m asking.
