Might not have beat plant, bjs , Smith at this 38 years old stage. But Ggg was very good and that's why he arguably beat nelo. If he can beat nel o he can beat nelos victims
Dev fought GGG when he's no longer prime.
Dev also had high volume and good stamina. NOT PLANT. Especially NOT BJS. they both have sus gas tanks. BJS knocked Andy Lee down twice and still Lee came back to draw. BJS won the first 6 rounds against Eubanks and Eubanks came back late, it was only a split decision.
Fair points
I admit that I would favor GGG in those fights, still. But they were both undefeated and I thought highly enough of them going into those fights. So I can't just dog them out just because Canelo ran through them.
Part of it too is what version of GGG would it be - at nearly 40, maybe they are closer fights than they would have been 10 years ago. But yes I was especially unimpressed with Plant's punching power in his fight with Canelo.
To me the only guy who really troubled GGG was Derevy - and he did that by matching or beating GGG's output at many points, and he was tough as nails and took a lot of punishment to get there. Murata tried that gameplan too but it is still a tough one to implement against a 40 year old GGG. He is extremely active accurate and strong when he lands.

nah they don't punch hard enough.
GGG would mow them down like he did with Brook, Geale and Willie Monroe etc. They can move but GGG has fast feet. He prefers movers tbh. look at his amateur record, he fought nothing but point movers and was successful.
The guys who he historically had problems with are guys who move forward on GGG. Canelo 2nd fight and the Russian guy who beat GGG in the olympics.

He should have a loss to Danny Jacobs.
I disagree but either way, the Jacobs that fought Golovkin was allowed to rehydrate fully. Canelo put a clause in Jacobs' contract and he rehydrated as much as he thought he could afford to. At $250,000/pound over 170lbs, I think he rehydrated a bare minimum
The only two guys who Canelo beat who I feel GGG may have had some issues with were BJS and Plant. Those were Canelo's 2 most impressive performances imo.

I don't think he would beat light heavyweight Kovalev or super middleweight Saunders
he 1 punched prime Kovalev in sparring. Doug Fisher was there.
Kovalev left Abel Sanchez gym shortly after that.
Seriously that dude has some serious mental issues.
So you post garbage like “most in the media had Canelo winning (vs Bivol)” and that despite being dominated by Bivol, Canelo is still p4p #1 but that guy has some serious mental issues? Really?
Seeing how prime GGG was never really about testing himself, I'd have to say he knew better than to test the higher divs.
May, Lara and Trout (maybe Cotto) would have beaten GGG at the lower weight.
BHS and Plant (maybe Kov) would have beaten him at the higher weight.
GGG's level of opponent never got better until he got ''old''
I think the question is if he fought them at the time Canelo fought them. Not at the age Canelo fought them. That's the way I interpreted it.
lol, dont even start, you make it worse
pfff, are you kidding me, 30-31 yo Golovkin would kill anyone at this age, imagine Golovkin in his prime vs any of the champs of his era, unfortunatly they avoided him; sad
