He missed almost 550 punches, Canelo only missed about 400 punches.
I've seen Canelo fans say that was a big part of how you score fights?
Canelo robbed, no surprise. Had to expect the Russian to get all the close rounds.
Here is a better tip read what i said, understand what was said because your answer is left field of what was said and the motive is to hate on a fighter.
You realize Willie Pep was given a scored round for not landing a single punch, defence is a part of boxing it always figures into the final score.
Yes DEFENSE is important as far as it not allowing your opponent to score - you don't actively score defense!! This is obvious
Fck me another teenage mutant that cant comprehend two sentence that become 10 out of context.
Pep moved; Pep switched to southpaw, mocking Graves; Pep danced; Pep weaved; Pep spun Graves around and around again; Pep gave head feints, shoulder feints, foot feints, and feint feints. But Pep never landed a punch." The crowd at ringside sat in spellbound awe as Pep put on perhaps the greatest three minute demonstration on the art of boxing ever witnessed. In just 180 seconds he joined the ranks of those who had done some legendary act to fulfill a fearless prediction; the called-shot of Babe Ruth, the "We're gonna win, I guarantee it!" bravado of Joe Namath, and "They all will fall, in the round I call" predictions of Ali.Sportswriter Don Riley, who was ringside and forewarned of Pep's plan for the third round, said, "It was an amazing display of defensive boxing skill so adroit, so cunning, so subtle that the roaring crowd did not notice Pep's tactics were completely without offense. He made Jim Corbett's agility look like a broken down locomotive. He made even Sugar Ray Robinson's fluidity look like cement hardening. Never has boxing seen such perfection!" He had fought the round without throwing a punch, but had he won it? Was his display so mesmerizing that even the keen eyed judges were beguiled? Pep knocked Graves down 9 times, ending the fight in the 8th round via TKO, but it wasn't the victory the ringside press were excited about; it was the score cards of the judges. When the cards were presented, there it was in black and white; Willie Pep had won the third round, the punchless round, on all three cards. The Will o' the Wisp had given boxing another legendary moment.
Nice article. Lots of idiots out there though, and I could expect a lot of people to score a round today for Canelo or Floyd if they didn't land a punch - that's how it goes when you're the A side.
Doesn't mean that it should happen. You need to do more reading and less talking if you think a guy can or should win a round if he doesn't land a punch. Get some help.
What fight was that and what round was it?
Honestly it's embarrassing that I need to detail this stuff, but here you go bud:
Defense: Defense is important because it helps a boxer set up his offense. Most judges that I have spoken to do not give credit for defense alone. If a boxer has a good defense, it means that he is not being hit with punches. But let's remember the purpose of the sport: to land punches on your opponent.
If Boxer A throws 10 punches in a round, but lands none of them, and Boxer B lands zero and throws zero, you still have an even round with no punches landing. You don't want to create a disincentive for a boxer to land punches if he thinks he's going to be penalized for missing.

Gonna let you in on a little tip - you don't score points for not getting hit. You just aren't allowing the other guy to score points on those shots that miss.

You also have to say body shots like "lil g landed piitty pat jabs but Canelo landed BRUTAL BODY SHOTS."
So brutal in fact that Canelo was the one who gassed at the end of that second fight and GGG swept the last 4 rounds.
Lol ok yes I'm learning here thank you lmao
What am I missing here? Which fans are claiming Canelo won??
If you factor in things like ring walks, style points, better trunks, etc it's obvious Canelo won. At least 9 rounds.
Lol yes true good call

Anyone who has ever boxed knows that getting hit by a jab feels like a pillow but getting hit by a left hook is like a bazooka.
Especially GGG's jab, it sucks
How did he win? I don't know, being more active, being more in control, looking like he won at the end? I'll admit, neither guy was entirely dominant but if I had a scale, it would definitely favor more Bivol's determination and activity. Canelo just didn't look good at all in there. The scores were too close. It should of been wider in favor of Bivol but that's to be expected when you're boxing's cash cow. It's like the judges were desperate to find anything they could give to Canelo to hope they could see him ahead but that's how bad he was. They had no choice but to give Bivol obvious rds and couldn't find enough where even a slight better Canelo they could of awarded the rd. This was so close to be a robbery type fight.
I had Canelo winning 11-2 I think
Canelo's punches to Bivol's arms should count more than Bivol's punches to Canelo's face because Canelo hits harder imo
He hit his arm to achieve openings to prime targets, it was part of the strategy that failed because it did not break through on the bigger man leading to Canelos defeat, he had no offense because he couldn't get past the wall of defense, made him a chubby plodder loading up on a few shots, easy UD.
They are both intertwined in winning, the idea is hit and not be hit. the extremes are not reality the blending makes all the difference in the world.
No.
If you land 100 and miss 200, it's better than landing 50 and missing 50.
It doesn't matter what you miss.
Effective aggresion accounts for what you land.
