Why the hate for Devin Haney?

Everyone knew Haney was going to win. Most did. But the problem people have is that Haney has a tremendous amount of hype. But it's clear that for someone touted as a skilled defensive fighter, his defense is terrible. Had he not fought another pillow fisted boxer, he would have been finished. And speaking of pillow fisted, Haney can't punch. He's supposed to be able to at least be putting people away at lightweight considering he rehydrates to 160 plus pounds. He can't put away a little guy in there. He's going to take an L soon unless he's carefully matched. Haney said himself he is killing himself making weight but doesn't move up where he could fight Taylor for undisputed. The bold says it all. He doesn't have power at 135 so he would be in trouble at 140 and considering his chin is suspect he is a knockout loss waiting to happen IMO. I do believe he gets stopped at 135 and uses dehydration as an excuse though before he moves up.

I watched Haneys fight, he clearly won, and won against a top 10 guy, and didn't look like the second coming of Christ while doing it, and that's the truth of the matter. He's good enough to conceivably win against any of the other top lightweights but not head and shoulders above the rest of the pack at all. Exactly, and that’s a fair, objective view.

He is an anti-white racist. His fights aren't entertaining. He has a weak chin. He held on for dear life for 2 rounds after Linares hurt him. He runs his mouth too much. His resume is trash. That's why Lomachenko's team requested Franchise Champion status and dropped the WBC belt. Lomachenko didn't drop the WBC belt. He was upgraded to Franchise world champion. That's like saying Haney dropped the WBC belt because he got upgraded to regular world champion from interim. Doesn't make any sense.

That's simply not true. The WBC had not called for the mando yet. So Lomachenko and Teofimo were free to fight. The winner would then have likely had to face Haney. But Top Rank removed him from the picture by asking for Franchise Champion status and having Lomachenko drop the belt. Haney did not deserve the shot at the best fighter in the division. How drunk were you the 3 nights GGG lost? I don't drink actually. And didn't care at all about some official judge decision lol. We all know the deal in fights like that. GGG got paid, but to really win officially he needed a KO or a dominating destructive performance. He did enough to win but not officially. Who cares really, not me. I don't know that guy. People have gotten robbed way worse than him. At least he got paid.

Fair enough, but here’s my issue: Nobody had a problem with Loma being elevated just because he asked to be elevated, however everyone had a problem with Haney receiving an “email” title that he didn’t ask for. I have never criticized Haney. He seems willing to fight the Franchise World Champion. It's not Haney's fault that the Franchise World Championship exists.

Exactly this. I think he’s a decent fighter but he’s comparing himself to those guys and it’s just pure delusion. It’s similar to when AJ talks about Ali and Larry Holmes. Yeah, idk man.
