Tonight proved he's nothing but someone who relies on his huge size advantage and power. At 140, against fighters as big as him who hit just as hard and can take his shots, he is FOOD. I don't even think he has a chance against Zelda or Barrios, Taylor and Prograis will put him in a stretcher.
Some of you kids forgot.....teo beat a ONE ARMED loma. Funny how some seem to ignore that fact. {"data-align":"none","data-size":"medium","data-attachmentid":31201922}
Yes. But we have to look at the whole picture. When Loma fought Nakatani, he looked completely different, and that was after the surgery. He had a TUE before the lopez fight, and he said that he didn't know how long his arm would last. He only started throwing when he realized he had to go for broke because he was losing. He tried to limit the use of his jab, but it just wasn't working. He wasn't good enough to beat Lopez with one arm. He has to go for broke and risk it. It makes perfect sense looking at it from a broader perspective. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense. We saw him in the second round knock Teofimo's head back, and then he just stopped, only to start doing it again in the seventh round. It's obvious now.
Yep. It’s just as obvious at manny’s torn rotator cuff. As obvious as mike’s broken back. As obvious as any post fig excuse, he chose to go into a fight needing his arms and knowing one had a torn rotator cuff (which I work in the healthcare field, he wouldn’t have thrown those late flurries with that injury, it’s not just pain management but also functionally limiting) if you choose to believe that. That would be dumb and if you believe it more power to you but I think it’s ridiculous. People clowned wilder for his excuses but accept lomas, no an excuse is an excuse pimp.
Arum will cash him out to Arnold Barboza Jr and build a NEW STAR!
Arum won't forget them trying to run to Triller they so delusional him and his father that they think they can just go back to Top Rank and get the Taylor and a huge Payday the very next fighter after losing
the same logic could be used for Loma, if his arm was messed up why did he throw it so much later? Why would he perform better after having aggravated the injury or whatever? Fact is lomas footwork was more active later and that gave teo problems. And the name of elite boxing is making adjustments, lomas increased success can be chalked up to him adjusting during the fight.

Really? How come he didn't take it away for the last half of the fight? Did he take it away or did Loma just not throw? Because if he was taking it away he should have had success throughout the fight, but it looked like a whole different fight the last half, where Loma took away Lopez's best weapons (uppercut, hook, and jab). You know what I mean? How did Lopez go from completely stopping Loma from throwing to looking like a piñata the last half of the fight?
I'm not trying to take away from Lopez because he did some very good things in there and it was definitely part of the reason Loma didn't throw, but for me it was a combination of Loma's arm being ****ed up and not wanting to risk getting caught with a power shot from Lopez. Loma had to figure out how bad his arm was after the second round. It was a mental thing.

I do not believe Lomas arm stopped him from fighting. Yep trained extremely hard for loma and thought of it as the opportunity of his lifetime, he overlooked kambosos. I wouldn’t draw any correlation between one fight and the other except Teo planned to take away lomas attack with the jab early and had an actual game plan, this fight he tried to ko him in round 1 and had no gameplan
You don't have to believe it or not its fact Loma has a torn labrum and after the fight went straight to surgery. I don't think people realize how bad a torn labrum is. Especially since its the second time this happened to him. This was a career ending injury.
Another thing i noticed with Teo is even though hes the more stocky guy he really doesn't seem that strong in the clinch game. Kambosos tied him up well, and when Loma went inside he was completely lost and getting bullied by a small Loma. These bigger guys with a inside game i see him struggling a lot.

Great points, but others at 140 have different tools to contend with. Longer arms, an inside guy, pure size…. Just because they wouldn’t beat him like kambosos doesn’t mean the water gets any less deep.
No doubt. They would be a tougher test in many ways too. Teo is just so explosive, it's hard to see, for me, a lot of guys taking that power. But I guess time will tell.
Because the scorecards were ridiculous. Julie Lederman's card was a travesty (and she hasn't judged since, incidentally). The scorecards don't reflect what happened in the ring. I can understand Lopez winning because a close fight like that could go to either boxer, depending on what the judges see. And because they punch so quickly, it's hard to tell if a punch landed or was blocked. But Loma had the better of Teofimo in that ring. Lopez was given credit for punches that were blocked. The thudding sound must have impressed the judges as there was no crowd to dampen it.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that the scorecards didn't reflect that actual fight. That's all. Fights that close can go to either guy.
Ah ok
So what you’re saying is the judges beat Loma, only on the cards
But also Lopez has an equally strong case of beating him in the ring, performance-wise. Loma wasn’t robbed
it wasn’t so clear in your first post but fair enough
He has enough natural talent to be a force at 140, I think last night was the 1st occasion he looked like he has outgrown Lightweight and its been a topic of conversation for a while now. He was never going to be long at 135 he is a big lad.
He needs a better coach than his dad though.
Yeah. For sure. I think Loma was very wary about his punching power. But when I think about it, it doesn't make too much sense to me because starting round six, he went into the pocket and traded with Teo. If I take what Loma says as true, that after the second round he had an "Oh ****" moment because his arm popped, then it makes sense to me.
Actually, I remember now. Loma's dad, in Russian, said to Loma in round five or four: "What are you doing, almost half the fight is gone and you are not punching. We cannot win this way." I'm paraphrasing but that's practically what he said. And that tells me that the slow start was not the plan; it was an adjustment Loma made. And Loma said he was so worried that his arm would give out on him if he started using it right away that he held back.
So really, the more I think about it, that fight only makes sense if we believe what Loma said and why he fought that way. I guess that's what an injured Loma looks like. He said that he had to skip a couple weeks of sparring because his arm was so messed up, that he had to get injections for the pain. I personally have had a similar injury and I couldn't get surgery right away. By the time I did, the inflammation around the injury was off the charts, so when he says it really hurt, I believe him.

lopez is hot garbage. his power is vastly overrated, he landed flush on that australian drywall installer time and time again and the aussie manlet just ate them and fired back. On top of his power being a myth, he is slow and plodding and doesnt even use his jab to set up shots, just swings widely making the australian lyft driver look like the next pernell. lopez would get ran over by C level jr welters the way that manlet put it on him tonight.
His dad is a garbage trainer as well. He gave him very conflicting advice, first telling him to take his time and then like 15 seconds later telling him to go for the knockout. uwot mate. tell him to use his jab or some chit.
Teo struggled to find distance and range tonight. He doesn't usually have to work for it because he is a naturally gifted fighter athletically and usually finds himself in position to touch you with the jab, find the range, and let the right hand go.
Kambo did a great job of staying out of range and controlling the distance with his feet, and then getting in and out/countering. Lopez didn't do well enough with his feet to get in position to control the distance and find the jab.
Kambo did still have to take a lot of hard shots from Lopez that would have put down a lot of others.
I don't know if all the top guys at 140 can take those shots. I don't think all of them would necessarily be as good as controlling range/distance either. Kambo did it very well, and I'm sure someone like Taylor could do it similarly.
However, you are playing with fire the whole fight, still. Not an easy gameplan to execute. You have to be tough as nails. Not sure if any of those guys are as tough as Kambo was tonight.

This fight was more clear cut but you were right about LOPEZ so i stand corrected. Loma made him look like a million dollars when in actual fact he is very very ordinary. With LOMA skill he should have beat a fighter like LOPEZ 10-2 but he didn't
