- -He still cryin' over turning down a record purse to fight AJ because he and the rest of the low hanging fruit contenders were targeting the easiest belt to be had, the WBC Deyonce title.
I know Ortiz is the ageless wonder but I think he's had his day as a top 5 heavyweight. Ruiz beats him. And yes Ruiz did look like crap but I give everyone coming off that 2 year covid layoff a pass. No one looks fresh coming off that long of a layoff. As for Wilder, I hope he takes a tuneup or two cuz he's been brutally battered in his last two outings. We'll see how he looks if he does decide to come back.
Ortiz has been old for ages, but his punch resistance seems to still be pretty decent. After those hard shots from Wilder in the 1st fight, he won some tune ups and lasted 10 more with Wilder before getting hit by a hammer. Ruiz and Wilder looked shaky early after they got dropped in their last fight.
I think Ruiz and Wilder were rusty their last time out, but that led to them getting banged up, and Ortiz has nothing left to lose.
I think Ruiz.and Wilder KO Ortiz into retirement, but I don't see either guy being matches up with Ortiz next because PBC wouldn't want the old man to pull off an upset.
Inactivity is part of being 53 years old I'm afraid. My client Mr ortiz has issued the following statement while wearing a sombrero and drinking mohito "please no more senor"

I hope Wilder's dented skull finally gets cracked let him fight Joe Joyce as a comeback. He wants to be a major ppv star, which he isn't, then it's time to fight dangerous opposition. And when he loses and gets bloody I'll make sure I have a front row seat to laugh.
According to Stacey McKingley his fighter who is Trevor Bryan went in the ring with Ortiz in sparring and gave him instructions to throw certain combinations being aggressive and shook him up recently. Ortiz team isn’t stupid they know he’s fading it’s about getting the big fight in a title match if they can while taking the least risky fights .
He might as well retire then.
It depends... will one of these young prospects finally step up and challenge the old man? Then he's not retired.
Joyce isn't young also but a prospect and he'd stop ortiz
The most feared heavyweight after KOing the legendary Bryant Jennings - something Oscar Rivas has done. Both Wallin and Joyce said their teams made an offer to him but he declined. I could see one of them lying but both?
The bogeyman never retires. All the up and coming heavyweight talent avoids him, even if they never heard of him...they avoid him.
Even when they offer to fight him, they avoid him, even when he is offered a career high purse plus the chance to fight for a number of world titles and his team lie about it and forget to let him know about the offer, they avoid him.

There is an ancient legend that came about in the late 1800s that if you say Ortiz's name three times in the mirror he will appear and take your #1 contender spot.
After Ruiz was getting dropped by Arreola, I think PBC are worried that Ortiz may stop Ruiz. That's the most interesting fight for both though. But both guys will get light touches until they could be fed to Wilder for his comeback.

Him and Andy Ruiz are in the Top 5 WBC rankings I hope they fight soon.
