Wilder: "It won't matter if Fury puts his weight on me, because I'm benching well over 350 pounds. I'm benching more than he weighs." | BoxingScene Community
Wilder previously released a video of himself benching a rep of 310 pounds. I just saw an interview where Wilder says he's benching well over 350 pounds now, Deontay says it won't matter if Fury tries to weaken Wilder's legs by leaning his weight onto Wilder in the clinch like last time.
A one rep max is very different than a body grabbing, pushing, and punching you, while you're exerting energy by moving and trying to fight back.
Doing heavy 1rep Max isn’t the way to train pushing off . It’s doing about 200 pounds in quick bursts ,if you can bench 350 . Explosive movements is the key ,Wilder better push him off quickly and move ,benching 350 isn’t going to do much itself, the smart fighters would hire actual Greco Roman wrestlers to lock up with and learn different angles in clinching but that’s probably to advanced for team Wilder to have thought about that .
One of your fellow mafia colleagues tells me that you can bench 450 Juggs? Is that right?
I like wilder attitude he's not gonna go down without a fight. Just cos fury outclassed wilder has no bearing on rematch, another day, anotherbdollar
Of course anything can happen in a different fight but when one guy has won about 2 rounds out of 19, none of them in the second fight where he took a beating...it does matter somewhat. It’s certainly proves there’s a difference in levels.
could Wilder land a great shot and change/end the fight? - maybe, it’s heavyweight boxing, history tells us it’s possible but boxing history shows even more that when there’s such a gap in levels, it very rarely ends up coming down to a punchers chance. I believe Fury is operating on a level of boxing intelligence that as long as he’s fit and ready, the chances of him losing to a punchers chance is minimal, not impossible of course.
Wilder’s best chance probably come in the first fight, when Fury was still on the comeback and not fit. If I was a Wilder fan, I’d be concerned with what happened when he fought an actual fit version that had him figured out.
i believe pretty early in the fight on Saturday, it’ll dawn on people that Wilder just can’t deal with Fury and it’s a continuation of the second fight.
i could be wrong, we all get it wrong. I just think Tyson Fury knows how to beat Wilder, has him figured out and has all the ability to do it, already has.
My brother told his buddy to bet on Fury by KO in the second fight minutes after his buddy just bumped into Max Kellerman in a Vegas pharmacy, who told him to bet on Wilder!! Now my brother thinks Wilder is due and will knock out Fury! I thought AJ would get passed Usyk in a less than exciting fight. He said Usyk will outbox him. I think Fury has the blue print and can get up even after getting pasted. His constant pressure and Wilder not being the same fighter backing up has me picking Fury. Wilder will need a highlight reel one punch KO, and those are hard to come by fighting the best. I think Wilder is underrated, but unless he goes for broke right away, I don’t see it. Fury just needs to keep his hands up and make Wilder wilt under pressure. Course what do I know?
Absolutely nothing.
Look at all of these arm chair fitness gurus acting like they are qualified to know what's best for wilder and what's worse. "bu...bu...bu...but his legs....his legs...his legs...". He has been in the game for a long time and knows what he is doing unlike you clowns. I have been seeing that he has gotten more fluid, faster and is moving better, but let's concentrate on his benching just because he made some casual comment, yeah?
I like Wilder, always have. But I'm stumped with this one. Bench pressing isn't really conducive to adequate clinch work at all. Unless there is something I'm missing. Wilder should be squatting and deadlifting if he wants to build up the core strength to keep Fury at bay.

He's going to need to bench that much to push himself off of the canvass after Fury knocks him down. His legs still look skinny AF. Good luck, Wilder
No no.... no one is saying Wilder is dumb for not working on his legs... Wilder is a DUMBASS BECAUSE HE THINKS BEING ABLE TO BENCH PRESS 350 IS GOING TO HELP HIM KEEP FURY OFF OF HIM!
Anyone who knows boxing would already know that though, its as stupid as thinking that lifting weights is going to somehow help your cardio and stamina.
You seem triggered. It's just a casual comment he made, and he has been working his a** off in many other areas, so he knows what he has to do obviously, but let's concentrate on that only thing he said, yeah? So what? Many boxers have said FAR worse things and this forum gave them a pass and even make excuses for them like fury's covid excuses and many instances where he insulted our intelligences, yet this one is so important?
