The guy defeated Sadam Ali, Jose Pedraza, Terence Crawford, Darleys Perez, Francisco Vargas (2x) and Khabib Allakhverdiev in the amateurs...
Take note, he defeated Crawford!
- -Ugh boy earned the right to be ugly, and that's what most Cubanos are in the ring, ugly amas in a pro sport.
Noone wants to see this fight, NOONE.
you don’t have to watch brother, you can always help your mom knit on Saturday night ;)
he earned his way to be a champ, sucks that he was given the WBA belts without winning it but it kind makes up for losing the decision against Porter.
He’s a true image of what a comeback fighter and he’s been humble since his early losses. When he first started down here in Miami he was reckless in between fights but he changed his career after losing fights he was favored in

He is also highly ranked because he beat and stopped an undefeated Bryant Perella, beat Jamal James and Omar Figueroa who were both undefeated & is the only guy to stop Ray Robinson who is a crafty, very durable sob that gives everyone fits. That is the same Robinson that beat Mean Machine and Josh Kelly right after (robberies).
The Porter fight has little relevance to his ranking, he was ranked highly before and has been putting in the work for an age moving silently through all these undefeated prospects.
In other words, he did it the old fashion way. By fighting.
GrandPac failed to beat Horn, how would he beat Ugas with only 10 days of preparation?
He just had one of the best training camps in his career, 10 days of preparation hardly lol. Manny could fight a guy with 4 arms on 2 days notice he has seen all styles nothing is new to him, the handicap will be more on Ugas than Manny, I doubt Ugas would train for Maidana as he would train for Manny, the intensity he would apply to a Manny fight would be way more than for Maidana.
This is nothing for Manny.

I suggest rather than going by his record you watch his fights. He's certainly not my idea of boring and he clearly has power.
His K.O ratio is very deceptive. He hurts and drops almost everyone he fights and has stopped some very durable and quality opposition.
You don't gain Shawn Porters respect the way he did if you can't punch.
Everything about his record is flat-out deceptive and probably a fair contributing factor as to why he's had such good success.
Its easy to go over his record and say oh he lost to so & so (most of those were BS decisions), he can't punch. Its easy to say he looks slow which he does but he has good fundamentals & timing.
If he is that easy to fight, why porter loss his fight? He was put on his a$$ in the last round too. A lot of fans nowadays, they only have opinion because of what they read or check 0n boxrec. They haven't seen the boxer, actually fight. Or they check highlights on youtube. I think this is a very intriguing fight, and I see Ugas going to the body early on.

Ugas is high ranked because he arguably beat Porter.
He is boring and with no power. Just look at his statistics , everything is there. His KO % is under 50%.

I am not sure he is being underestimated if anything I am pleasantly surprised that so many recognise him as a decent fighter. I was almost expecting him to being completely dismissed as a bum who can't fight. He's a very solid fighter.
He is a big and strong counter puncher with a good right hand. He has what is needed to beat Pacquiao. Plus Pacquiao had been preparing for a southpaw, come forward fighter.
ugas trained also for an orthodox fabian maidana.. so i can't see the difference here same as pac.

And as we all know, if one fighter defeats another in the amateurs, he can surely beat him years later in the pros, because nothing's changed! :fing02:
I got Pac winning by way of unanimous decision in a very boring one-sided fight. I just don't see Ugas taking enough risks or chances in order to defeat Manny Pacquiao. I just see him fighting his same cautious and safety first style.

He got beat by Imam, Robels and Johnny Garcia, wobbled numerous times by a B grade Ramos, outboxed by Porter who is a slugger and Manny is not going to outclass this guy.
The pros is way different than the amatuers.
Outboxed by porter?
