maybe but i remember khan saying that too...i mean canelo was clearly drained out of his mind at 154 or 152 for pu-ssies but you could see he was struggling at those weights: very low work rate and not a lot of confidence in letting his hands go. low energy as trump would say. haney keeps a good work rate, lets his hands go, and seems to have pretty good stamina at 135.
Not knocking Haney's ability, he's very good. I just think he's still a bit too green for the elite so he'd be doing himself a favour by fighting them at a more comfortable weight, giving himself time to develop also.
Khan's chin was definitely much better at 140 than 135, he took bombs from Chino and Peterson and wasn't hurt by the others he fought there until he ran into DSG. Khan was also KO'd before he reached world level, Haney has looked nowhere as vulnerable.
I was thinking that watching his last fight and last night. Looks flashy. The hand speed is impressive but he doesn’t really hurt anybody.
We’ll see if he actually steps up the competition. I think Ryan Garcia or Tank Davis would catch him with something big pretty easily. Could be like Broner/Maidana.
Based on last night, Devin should steer clear of the heavy-hitters at 135. I think we'll see him fight the winner of Fortuna-Jojo and then move up in weight. He's a big lightweight so I expect his chin and powers of recovery to be significantly better at 140. I'd be surprised if he takes the Teo fight, I would give him massive props for jumping in with the Champ.

He’s nothing like Broner. Haney is disciplined and focused. He’s always in the gym training, even when he doesn’t have a fight on the books. Broner was always going out partying and getting fat between fights. Other than both guys being black I don’t see much in common between the two.
NO, He’s no Broner. Broner would still be significant in the game if he stayed at 130-135 but he likes to eat too much. Haney was impressive. I liked his aggressive side and YES he was hurt in there. I saw 2 times he was hurt PRIOR to the 10th round. He handled it fairly well. He is only 22. He will be better next time but he should avoid Teo for at least 3 more fights. He needs to practice his craft more with TUFF alive dogs in there.
That wasn't a big shot, it was a probing right hand Loma walked into.
His shot on Haney wasn't big either. It was perfectlyntime and placed. That's my point. Linares has pop. And above all he's a great timer, counter puncher. He got both guys perfectly. Haney was def hurt more but both guys got timed by a great shot.
this, he continued to do it in the 12th round too, well after he recovered from the end of the 10th. the 11th he barely threw anything, atleast jab and move or something but he hugged all 11th... which ok i can understand to some extend his legs were gone. but 12th his legs were back and he still hugged enough of the round to warrant a point deduction in my eyes
I think he got clipped again in the 12th.
No way. Has way more mobility than Broner. AB is stiff as hell and only ever looked good against midgets or guys he outweighed by 10+ lbs. Haney was very good for much of that fight. And look how busy he was. Broner couldn't sustain that pace for one round.

Yes I took particular issue with this. Who TF told him to do that? That's why most fathers can't be boxing coaches. Haney did himself no favors with that trash.
He wasn't even taking punches at that point, he literally ran & hugged, I've never seen that. When have you ever seen another fighter run at another figher and hug him?

linares is not a power puncher at all
Linares has good power. And he's a really great counter puncher. So that's not accurate. He was able to put Loma on his ass as well. Now is he Tank or Teo? No. But when it comes to setting up shots he might be better than both.
he fights a lot like an older mayweather jr even more so than broners attempts to mimic mayweather. true broner has a way better chin
hes got no power though and his actual hand speed isnt great either. his reflexes are quick but hes 22 so they should be. he is going to have all kinds of problems moving up in weight as he gets older.
he fought a stupid fight and I was saying early that he shouldnt get into those exchanges and just box to a decision. This fool was out there with NO POWER WHATSOEVEER trying to bang with a power puncher. Lopez stops him if the fight happens, which I highly doubt Haney wants to do now. If Haney ducks him , it's Lopez fault because Lopez would have stopped him tonight.

Totally bizarre and embarrassing for Haney.
