Even after he beat AJ I always felt he was just the right guy with the right style in the right place at the right time. AJ was and still is a vulnerable fighter and Ruiz was able to expose his flaws. But for me Ruiz is a C level guy, I don’t even think he’s a top 10 guy tbh and never have. I know a lot of people do but personally I don’t see it. Aside from AJ the resume is paper thin and the performance last night was hardly impressive. I like Ruiz’s style but I think he gets crazily overrated based on one good win.
Ruiz is top 10. The guy has the heart, stamina and punch and he has proved it twice already. I've become a bigger fan of Ruiz after last night. He is nothing exceptional but I like having him in the division
Do fluke wins count ?
Anyone who has been watching boxing for a few decades has seen several Andy Ruizs come and go. He is on the level of a Rhaman,McCall,Douglas. Id be pretty surprised if he makes it to the top again. Credit to him if he does but I dont see it.

I think this is a bit harsh, but is generally true. Before the Joshua fight he was looked at as a pretty good HW contender who look decent against Parker. I remember watching his fight against Dimitrencko and think that he had decent speed and power but not a Champ lv guy. Of course I was just as shocked as you all when he beat Joshua the first time. But since that fight, and based on his previous fights, he has looked like he always does - pretty good, but not champion material. Joshua was easily able to move and outboxing him from the outside, negating Ruiz's best strength.
I don't really see him beating the top guys. Joshua could jsut box the same way he did in the second fight again. Fury would box on the outside as well. Ruiz gets hit too much to last 12 with Wilder.
Arreola is 40 and Ruiz struggled with him. He was knocked down once and visibly rocked multiple times. Ruiz did enough to win but the scorecards were way too wide; I had Arreola winning 3 or 4 rounds rather than the 1 round two judges awarded him.
Deontay Wilder stopped a 35 year old Arreola.
Bermane Stiverne stopped a 33 year old Arreola and comprehensively outboxed a 32 year old Arreola.
Vitali Klitschko stopped a 28 year old Arreola.
Arreola at 40 is not better or more dangerous than he was at 28, 32, 33, or 35.
He didn’t struggle with Arreola what fight were you watching? Lol. Sans the first two rounds Ruiz thoroughly outboxed him. Plus, Arreola was obviously more motivated and in better shape than he had ever been in his entire career. This was a very solid performance from Ruiz all things considered, and I am confident that he can beat any heavyweight out there, especially once he fully settles in with his new trainer:boxing:
I think he absolutely is top 10. The division is just ****ing awful. Parkers performance vs old Chisora just further emphasizes it.
This. You got the top 3 and then everyone else. The 4-10 in the top 10 are all pretty weak in this era. Usyk is skilled but prob undersized and lost his speed moving up. AJ, Fury and Wilder are the top 3. WIlder is getting old though. He needs to fight someone again soon to get his confidence back. With his power he is still top 3 because he can end it with one punch.,
So, he gets knocked down and like a warrior gets back up and fights thru fire the first three round and then proceeds to adjust and outbox his opponent and somehow that’s a bad thing? I mean Arreola was in the best shape of his life and has always ways been a dangerous foe, yet Ruiz toyed with him. This fight actually reinforces my belief that Ruiz is top three and would wreck wilder and probably beat AJ again. Fury would be a toss up but only because of the physical disparities, not because of skill or will.

Ruiz, Whyte, Povetkin, Ortiz, Parker, Chisora, Pulev are all around the same level.
Ruiz, Whyte, Ortiz a step better in my opinion. But in a vacuum, I actually cannot argue they all could give each other fits in a round robin tournament so your point is fair.
LOL Usyk above Joshua based on?
Movement and cardio. I like dynamic boxers a lot and I think the lack of forward pressure from Joshua will allow Usyk to cruise to a points decision provided he weathers the early storms. I think orthodox 1-2 upright fighters like Joshua are always a loss streak waiting to happen.
Lol
Ruiz wouldn’t even beat Otto Wallin. Show Ruiz a bit of distance and range and the jab and he’s absolutely useless.
Ruiz probably scrapes in the top 10 because he had one good night against a chinny fighter. The rest of his career doesn’t scream out he’s a top fighter.
I could pick 7 or 8 heavyweights that comfortably beat him.
Ruiz can beat any heavy out there and I have no doubt in my mind. He’s skilled, fast, determined, and has good pop. Plus, he has a warriors heart and don’t forget then best trainer in the world and the best fighter in the world as his stablemate. Even though he boxed beautifully yesterday, many we’re expecting him to ko Chris, and I genuinely believe the only reason he didn’t is because it was his first fight under Reynoso, but I have no doubt that he will have been more adjusted to his new trainer and have a more solid trainer/fighter connection with him next time around which will allow him to shine even more so than he did last night
For me I actually think it proves Joshua is top 5 at best. I personally rank Usyk, Wilder, Fury, and Joyce ahead. Genuinely think he don't think he is anything remotely close to the best the division has to offer. I know upsets happen but Ruiz hasn't really done anything surprising in his last five fights. He has great hand speed and combinations. That's about it. I think losing to him kinda made it apparent that the top 3 are the best of a bad bunch and, even then, it's like some of the b-tier fighters could upset them on a decent night. Fury is the true stand out, Wilders not really top 20 if not for his god given right hand and Joshua for me is just...meh.

Parker is top 10. Has several decent wins. He’s in that 6-10 range for me.
Ruiz literally only has 1. Ruiz is better than Parker ....Parker cannot pull the trigger , has no aggression and never seems to lay it on the line....I think it’s in his DNA and isn’t mean enough after lasts night performance
