I'm not trying to get those "Al Haymon is the cancer of boxing" or the clearly racist types going but obviously something is going on. Not many dates, crappy main events and a lame ass $50 PPV. Something seems off to me...
Good for you that you just take this sport in stride. No real hurry to see meaningful fights happen. Just wondering what good is a huge roster when it's plague with inactivity? It's probably better if it's taken over by other interested parties.
Yeah, many boxing fans have become accustomed to this trend in boxing.
They just take whatever crumbs this boxing business feeds them.
They just got tired of waiting for big fights to come. They've gotten so used to it.
So they no longer mind.
I'll take the over on PBC closing up shop.
I mean I don't even get how PBC goes outta business with their roster so idk wtf most of you guys are even talking about that suggest its a possibility.

Yeah it was funny how a few years back PBC would announce a shit fight and people would defend it "but it's on FREE TV, boxing is FREE this saves the sport everybody will watch THANK YOU Haymon for Dirrell vs Truax"
Thank you for plant vs truax, dirrell vs davis, broner vs santiago, lara vs cornflake, ruiz vs arreola, benavidez vs ellis, harrison vs perella. Great headliners lol.
The other thing that pbc still hasnt fixed is that they dont have a spokesperson. Think about hearn want you want, but he keeps the media and fans constantly engaged.
With PBC you just get some random fights announced at some point. No talk about future plans and stuff. No fight leads naturally to other big fights.
No major fight scheduled yet for PBC.
Thurman, Porter, Ugas, Kownacki, Martin, Luis Ortiz...
Seems PBC is on the verge of closing shop.
What's happening?
They should've let someone like DiBella run PBC instead of all these incompetent yes men. Can't understand the goal of this BS organization. Over 300 fighters with no dates or clear gameplan. How do these fighters agree to sit around?
I bet if Arum had all these fighters, he and his fighters would be set for life, making great inhouse fights, let alone working with other promoters. Not a fan of Arum or saying he's honest or anything close. The thing is, tho, Arum is actually a boxing fan first, so is Oscar. Haymon is a pure businessman. I think he's only out for himself.
Name fighters should speak out about this or leave to find better arrangements to develop and perfect their skills to reach the highest heights (like Floyd did). It doesn't seem possible with Haymon's org. Money ain't everything.
Thought some of you wanted them to go away well here you go! lol
No but seriously, of course more announcements of fights are coming unfortunately with announcements taking so long most of these guys probably will only fight 1 time this year maybe twice if they're lucky. Need another Network and/or APP or something they have a HUGE Roster but just not enough dates to keep everybody active
Something is going on though, either working out a new deal or looking to do business with a APP or another Network we just have to wait and see
The bold: You are most probably right.
The last time I saw Davis he was practically begging his promoter to keep him active and give him a date and name so he could get in camp. That was beginning this year. Not even sure about the Barrios fight anymore.
Haymon should get his crap together.

You hold off the Big Fights until one of these Networks give in and give you the deal you want is what I think might be going on here which sucks for us fans. Maybe they work something out with FOX or they don't and they end their deal with FOX and do something Viacom/CBS
Everybody kind of went quiet including the Mayweather vs Paul stuff which tells me something being worked on

I think the cancer to PBC is Floyd. He must be their adviser in some capacity. I wouldn't be surprised if he's sabotaging Gervonta's career intentionally because of his ego. Davis is the best fighter PBC has, bar none, and he's rotting from inactivity. Someone like him should fight at least 4 times a year.
My info was Davis was fighting on February 20 this year, it's now April?
Fuck him for not speaking up for himself. Fuck Floyd and Al Haymon, as well, with their politics.
I thought PBC was about killing the PPV model ?
What happened with that anyway... kinda silently dropped the hyperbole
DAZN was about killing the PPV model, not PBC.

It’s very strange, it’s almost like they’ve shelved their bigger stars for the first part of the year. I’m hoping they release a schedule soon with Spence, Tank, Charlo’s etc back in action.
Cults dont usually have a long life span. Inhouse fights where you don't have to financially compete against rival promoters will eventually run out of match ups and ppl don't want to see rematches of one sided fights.
Master Al is going to have to start dealing with Matchroom and Top Rank fighters more which means competing with or conceding financially to thiet promoters and their finances
Basically he is going to have to start risking his champions against threats that he doesn't control.
As for Ruiz v Arreola as a PPV, well who knows what they are thinking there. That's just pure madness or pure greed. Personally I think Ruiz thinks he is deserving of the kind of money he got from the Joshua fights. Why Master Al wouldn't just tell him that is a ridiculous thought process and get on with it is beyond me.
You mean like the last three major heavyweight fights pretty much all involving PBC fighters???
Huh?
Lets be honest. The PBC are holding back on as many of their star earners as they can until it is confirmed that arenas and other venues are all back up to full capacity. Its as simple as that.
Right now it is still uncertain times, another wave and another shut down can happen. The PBC just been delaying until its looking good.
If Fury had been happy to wait for Wilder then the 3rd fight would STILL NOT of happened yet.
I feel like PBC has always had some gaps in their schedule where lil to nothing is happening &/or lil to nothing is being announced. Thats what always feeds into those "PBC is about to go outta business" threads that have popped up since PBC has been around.
I don't really see that happening. PBC is more of a management company than a promoter anyway. A management company is always going to be making money via its clients or at least til they start losing clients that'll be the case. And last I heard no one who's making bank is leaving PBC.
Good point. It's usually after people start complaining that they release a big schedule of interesting fights, too. :lol1: :lol1:
Agreed. We just saw Arreola on free TV (literally) being pounded on by Kownacki for 12 rounds. What I heard, and what may be the case, is that PBC is testing Ruiz's drawing power for possible bigger fights down the road. Still doesn't make sense for this to be a ppv, imo. Who really expects anything different from what Kownacki did to Arreola? Ppvs should be reserved for elite fights.
Cable is a better way to test someones drawing power. Caleb Plant did like 1.5m on his fox cards, makes it look like he could be a PPV guy. No idea why you'd put someones first fight as a PPV to test their drawing ability. This reeks of Crawford/Postol (which was a great card, fun fight, lower price, and nobody bought it)
That said, Arreola didn't get pounded on for 12 rounds, that was a really fun fight that made me hope Chris would keep getting fights. This is another fun fight, just not a PPV one IMO.

Arreola actually gave a solid account for himself that fight. Showed Kownacki, while being exciting is clearly not close to being a top tier HW.
The fight itself would be fine as a FOX main event. Ruiz coming off a long lay off going against an opponent that will make it exciting. No problem with the fight itself, but putting it on PPV is just stupid. The undercard will have some exciting fights but not like any of them are title fights or top level fights. This would be a perfect Saturday afternoon/night card on FOX.
As for the OP, we still have no dates/official opponents for the following fighters:
GRJ
Hurd
JRock
Lubin
Charlo Brothers
Spence
Ugas
Tank
Wilder
Thurman
Porter
DSG
Roman (Rumored in early May)
Nery (Rumored May 15)
Fulton
LSC
Kownacki
There's plenty more as well. I don't know why not schedule has been released yet. TR is starting to release or put together the final touches for their schedule up until July. I know Spence/Ugas and Tank/Barrios PPVs are a lock, but still no official date or venues. PBC needs to start to put some sort of schedule out soon.
