Sergey Kovalev Tests Positive for PEDs, Fight in Jeopardy vs Bek the Bully
Let's take the time to appreciate this ATG. Not only for his overall career but for taking on an undefeated killer PED user. A guy who was not only a champion but a unified champion. A guy who was at the time highly ranked on that glorious opinionated P4P list y'all love.
From unifying 168 to being unified at 175. Retired undefeated & took them belts back to Oakland. I'd like to thank Kovalev for increasing Ward's greatness even in retirement. This couldn't have been achieved without your contribution.
Green K. I agree on both counts.
IMO, they should all use it too.
We dont want everyone using, that means the best fighters are just the guys with the best chemists.Guys coming up shouldn't have to take these added risks just to compete.
I'm almost baffled that people just side with he's older now, it's his 1st time. Moreso than how long has he been doing this & getting away?
They did the same with Anderson Silva. He didnt look much like a PED taker. He probably needed something to shift the weight. He can't fight at cruiser.
:lol1: :lol1:
Never heard a fighter get elevated because one of his opponents tested positive for PEDs like 4 years later. It just shows how stupid some posters can be assuming if a guy fails a drug test he must has cheated in every pro fight he ever had. They do that on boxers they never liked anyway like bad old Russian Kovalev.
That is your opinion. I always thought he was overrated and good but not great. He had about 95% of his fights in his home town area where he could get away with fighting dirty and using illegal tactics. He was a real dirty fighter. An all time great dirty fighter. I thought Kovalev won the first fight and was only defeated in the 2nd Ward fight by obvious low blows an a blind bias referee who would not warn or take a point away from Ward for the fouls or give Kovalev 5 minutes to recover from 3 hard ball punches in a row. Kovalev just now failed a test and failed no test before fighting Ward. The failed test doesn't work in reverse and prove Kovalev was always a drug cheat. I know many consider Ward an all time great I am just not one of them. He was a skillful boxer for sure and he had a perfect record.
I wouldn't be surprised if all of these guys were using from day 1 basically. But this comes across as a 'I can't compete at the top level anymore, so I'm going to dope up' type of positive test.
Green K. I agree on both counts.

Did anyone else cringe reading this?
You better be related to ward
This is called going full r*tard
Fr
Odds are my man kov thought this was an under the radar fight and that he wouldnt get caught. Especially considering a lot of people were calling this his going away fight..
Anybody with logic can venture to guess hes been kod in what 3 of his last 4 fights..? Sounds like hes an aging fighter trying to sprinkle a little juice in his milkshakes to have a decent going away fight.
Think Erik morales vs garcia 2
Man on a roll today with idiotic threads lol
I'm on a roll with the slore that birthed you.
That's some weak fanboy shyt
Suck my dìck

Well he should have used them vs Canelo .,......
You reaching
How do you know he didn't?
& how?
No,the criteria here is beating a killer who was also a PED taker .Alvarez sparked him with a head shot.He must be great to beat the druggy killer.
Absolutely invalid. Good thing people won't agree enough til it becomes a narrative. He was so great he lost the rematch then lost to a part time fighter lol
Actually, Ward’s best win (agruably) looks weaker and weaker as time passes. Not to take into account he lost the 1st one...
Posts like this are why the best don't fight the best early in their careers.
Ppl who love re-writing history. I never watched any fight that Ward lost. Part of the reason he's an ATG.
Because he is at the end of his career and clearly not the fighter he was when he faced Ward. Like I said you can speculate, but it doesn't raise Ward's stock without evidence it was actually done for that fight. Not to mention Kovalev should of been given the W in the first fight.
A lot of good posts.......
I agree with the 1st sentence.
This comes across as "I've been cheating for so long but damn they finally caught me."
Never even heard of any Ward PED accusations in my life until you. Literally. Idk of any suspect transformations. I'm not even aware of any marks. Are we talking pimples or what?
Idk, Kov is so careless in general, and with him having little to lose now, it fits the bill for me that he is a first time user. I think he is too careless to have been doing it all along and not have gotten caught.
My personal suspicions about Ward were 2 fold: 1) even though we all knew the rematch was happening, it wasn't announced officially until 90 days before the fight. Ward and his team were the ones in control of announcing the fight.
Testing doesn't start until the fight is official. The 90 day mark is known as the period at which guys can have it out of their system, but still have the effects of it show up for them in training/fight night.
2) Ward in fight 2 just seemed to have a noticeably stronger physique to me. His punches seemed much stronger as well. Could all be legit. But the 'announcing within 90 days' is a huge tell. If you don't already know about that, pay attention to when some of these fights are officially announced. Most Canelo fights, for example.
If you need PEDs to beat a fighter in what would be his 7th fight. How do we know he wouldn't need PEDs for the biggest fights of his career in Andre Ward?
How many titles & losses he got?

That's some weak fanboy shyt. Kovalev was robbed in their first fight no matter how you spin it. Ward avoided all the rest of the LHW's that posted a threat.
