Can I ask, do you rate entirely off performances or are you just including it in your decision making process?
I went with situation at the time and name value, didn't even consider performance. I can't say you're wrong, the Haye fight was a stinker.
Yeah, I was thinking of performance and didn't put much thought into other criteria tbh. But these are some of the fights that stand out in my memory.
Chris Byrd was an extraordinary talent and difficult to figure out (I believe Ibeabuchi would've been a very special fighter if not for his crimes). So I give him big credit for both of those wins.
The first Samuel Peter battle was a pivotal moment in Wlad's early comeback when he showed us the heart and will that he needed to become champion again.
And Thompson? Well, he just looked so dominant and at the peak of his powers in the first fight. Many people thought Tony would give him a real challenge. I never saw anyone do that to prime Thompson. He impressed a lot of people that night.
No doubt. It has everything from timing to performance. There's nothing you can ask for out of a contender Byrd did not provide. Both fights, if you separate them are 1 and 2 for Wlad. That's what I took your double ranking to mean and I thought about it then agreed. Best wins are both Byrd.
Yeah I wouldn’t necessarily put one above the other. His best two wins are against Byrd.
Crazy to think Byrd was a middleweight in the Ams.
Doesn’t matter.
He was king of a horribly weak era. Head to head he gets beat by dam near every great heavyweight. I think Vitali who gets 1/10th of the recognition wlad does would ice him.
Vlad had no chin and no desire. He was not a blood n guts warrior. Like Roy Jones use to say “he’s like a dog that can’t fight off the bottom” meaning when wlad starts getting beat on he folds.
Everyone who followed boxing knows that Vitali was far superior. I've never seen or heard anyone pick Wlad over Vitali.
