Can they still fight the "HEAVYWEIGHTS" how does this actually work?? and lets say Wilder wins the WBC Bridger title..is he a 2 division champion now???lol
To cut this short if this were true the top guys would be under 225 at heavyweight right now ,and this class wouldn’t be needed .
Weight, obviously, factors across all divisions. The 'Super-heavyweights' have the greatest advantage in this regard. This is very simple, good big-man, beast good-little man.
i think it's for the best that we just don't acknowledge any of this.
agree. another set of worthless belts to generate revenue for crooked boxing parasites
This is all ridiculous.
And then they use a dead kid to try to sell another belt, just like they used Black Lives Matter to sell that BS Tyson/Jones belt.
I hate this organization.
It's to the point I hope all of them but the IBF dies.
The kid didn't even die. To be honest his injuries aren't even that bad at all... he will probably be 100% in a month or two but how long we will have to hear about Bridger-weight? I hate his fucking name too. Stop giving your kids such shitty 'original' names dumb hipster parents...

Super heavyweight division starting at around 265 270 makes more sense then. Ain’t no bridgerweight taking **** from the heavyweight division. It’s destined to fail already.
You'll see!
I agree it will be the most prestigious division and Wilder shall be it's king
It's on Fury to make 222lbs and dare to face the King unless he wishes to be tainted as a coward
Like Larry said, Deontay 'Bronze-Bomber' Wilder can go down in the history books as two weight champ. I can see the 'Bronze-Bomber' holding BOTH 'Bridger' and 'HW' titles at the same time.
This is history in the making.

The 'Bridger' division may take the shine from the HW division: more skilled athletes, with greater speed, endurance and just as much KO power as the 'Super-heavyweight' division.

We will not see the old out of shape slobs like last week : Alexander Flores taking a dive vs. Luis Ortiz, Rydell Booker getting paid for a sparring session with Filip Hrgovic, and old-ass Devin Vargas blowing out his hip after getting two-pieced by Zhilei Zhang.
Having to make a weight-limit ensures that you come in top form and eliminates the slugs in that hang around in the HW division well into their 40's.
Look at how many times the cruiserweight-division has had a WBSS tournament, two times have we got a lineal champ from this unappreciated weight-class. The 'Bridger-weight' class might be undervalued by the public, but thats actually a good thing for fans. This forces promoters to risk their fighters against the other top contenders to raise their profile and earning potential.

It won't last and it will fail and disappear. the IBF,WBO and won't recognize the silly 224 pound weight class and they will keep cruiserweight at 200 so the WBC will be running these new weight classes alone.
Every top 10 HW fighter last time out was over 224
Champ - Fury - 273
1) Joshua - 237
2) Wilder - 231*
3) Povetkin - 224
4) Whyte - 252
5) Ortiz - 241
6) Ruiz - 283
7) Parker - 245
8) Hunter - 226****
9) Rivas - 239
10) Pulev - 248
*231 was a career-high weight for Wilder in his last bout He Usually weighs between 212-223 (His previous 6 bouts).
**Hunter weighed between 213-221 (His previous 6 bouts).
Thing is rehydration though... in most divisions 5 - 10% of bodyweight ain't abnormal, which would be 10 - 15 Lbs even at the lower end.

I think that is fair enough but until some of those guys fight each other its just a matter of opinion.
Here are some of the big-names that can make the 'Bridger' weight class at 224.
Deontay Wilder
Oleksandr Usyk
Michael Hunter
Alexander Povetkin
Murat Gassiev
Petar Milas
Then you add the top cruiserweights that will eventually cross the 200 limit.
Mairis Briedis
Krzysztof Glowacki
Ilunga Junior Makabu
Andrew Tabiti
And you have a solid crop for the 'Bridger' weight-class. This has potential.
This is one of the stupidest things recent. I think Teddy Atlas said it also on IG, are they giving any sanctioning fees to the actual family of the kid? Ah No.
This is just another, feel good story from the WBC to cover up the greed that is in abundance.
