It feels hard to quantify something like this these days where there is so much division between different promoters & platforms. I think most tip top guys would fight anyone as long as they are treated fairly & given their value. For those reasons idk who's really being protected & who's just on the wrong side of the street. And it's also worth noting these days their is more angling towards big fights being made as big as they can be which looks like protecting fighters but is simply about maxing out the profit. I agree with this. A lot of times, I think you could see promotional differences getting in the way of a lot of potential fights. I think there are a lot of fights that start getting made and they don’t even get past the first stages of discussion before one side backs out. They are just talked about and that’s it. Never far enough to even tell the media.

I think this a hard thing to quantify, especially at the minute during covid. Sure there are guys who aren't fighting the calibre of opposition that they should, but how many of those aren't fighting because they're being protected vs. how many aren't fighting because of money or politics? Far more of the latter than the former, surely.

tank hasn't fought a fighter in the ring or tbr top 10 in 4 years now. that is absurd when hes being hyped as one of boxing best and biggest stars. if he was some random guy from nowhere you could maybe understand that but he has the biggest networks and promoters and yet nothing
