I don't mind slow brawlers or swarmers at all. These types give me time to unleash my shots and they just get caught coming in every single time and have to start over...
It's only the explosive, joe frazier esque ones that I can't control. They disrupt my jab and put my reflexes under much more stress than I'm used to. The angles employed also annoy me. It feels like my fundamentals get turned upside down. It's just hard to keep track of everything, I feel.
Is this typically the style of fighting boxer punchers dislike?
Note that I do catch them coming in, but at the end of my punches.... not enough to be safe.
No he wasn't. Swarmers are technical. Not brawling, dirty fighters like Maidana..That would be a ... brawler!
I didn't know this was the Floyd Mayweather forum...
Swarmer = guy ontop of you, charging/pushing and keeping you off balance or throwing a lot of punches. Porter along with Maidana can often can be described as swarmers. The keyword here is “swarm”.
Brawler/slugger = Just a guy swinging bombs, looking for the KO.
Floyd is NOT a boxer puncher. Floyd isn't a big puncher and he isn't a boxer boxer either who spams jabs... Floyd is a counter puncher
He had lots of Ko’s under 140
I think so. The first that comes to mind is Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Marcos Maidana 1.
You can see how Floyd, despite being a AAA boxer, found Marcos to be very difficult.
Excellent reference to answer this question. Maidana was very aggressive and I think Floyd just did his best to remain calm, stay defensive, and allow Maidana to expend energy, all the while staying alert for opportunities to counter. Floyd didn't panic or allow Maidana to force him out of his long term fight plan
Maidana was for sure a swarmer vs Mayweather. .

Castillo and Maidana aren't swarmers either, they're sluggers, at least Madaina.
Maidana was for sure a swarmer vs Mayweather. But anyone attacking a puncher will make it easier for the puncher unless he;s a low level one with no countering ability. Mayweather is hardly a puncher. Actually, he’s not.
Ask Floyd about fighting Castillo and Madaina
