on Fury compared to the other fighters he has knocked out in the past https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF-nPm5Ahnw&t=678s
yes he knocked Fury down twice in the first fight and almost knocked him out, but generally in these last two fights..he has more trouble landing it as usual
The length does a lot. Now, i'm well aware he fought other tall opponents. But never guys who were as light on their feet, had the sense of distance Fury does, the jab, head movement and general radar for incoming punches.
Fury's size is a problem on the inside too. If Wilder get's too close he leans on him, and he can really fight inside for a big man. As a result there is a punishment for getting to close, in addition to staying too far away.
The intelligence, speed and boxing skills of Fury makes it hard for Wilder to find that sweet spot in between. And even when he does Fury is still hard to catch.
He should go to the body more and use his left hook to set up the right. Feints as well.
He has a better chance than a lot of people give him credit for imo. The second fight was competitive until he got caught and never got his legs back. And the first fight was a toss up for the first 4 rounds, before Fury took over.
If he comes out fast doing what i wrote before he still has a 40-45% chance imo.
Feints, distance and height. Fury utilized all 3 of these very effectively. Even when Wilder closed the distance (very briefly), he had to punch up due to height. And feints kept him at bay, and lowered his already low activity
I think Fury's jab was the biggest key factor. Wilder did not know what to do with a jab coming from someone taller and longer then he is. Fury's jab whether it landed or miss basically took Wilder's right hand away because the jab made Wilder either reset or be forced into full defense mode.
He just grazed in the 1st round and I believe that extra upper muscle slowed him down . Hand Speed and footwork were nothing like the first fight. Just a terrible game plan by his trainer . He didn’t need to be physically stronger then TF he need to be able land first . He looked super slow and had no plan B . He needs to can Jay D especially after throwing MB under the bus .

- -Cuz he a money kasha.
fury is a very good boxer. wilder usually waits for guys to make mistakes because he doesn't have a great jab or the ability to make things happen on his own.
fury throws feints and jabs his way into wilder's range. wilder has no real answer for a guy who is both taller than he is and feinting. he bites on the feints. luis ortiz proved this when he hardly took a shot from wilder in the second fight leading up to the knockdown.
It's Because Fury smothered it by backing Wilder up; Especially along the ropes. The only punch that was available to Deontay Wilder was the left hook.
He landed it just seconds before the towel was thrown in and it appeared to have slightly buckle Tyson Fury knees as he was stopped in his tracks.

In addition to the technical reasons that were already covered, Fury has a height and reach advantage to go with his technical abilities.
is Wilder losing power?
Fury can take a shot.
I know he’s been dropped in the past, but those times, he was caught square on. He was never particularly hurt, just the way he was caught, it’s going to send you backwards and down. Even the Wilder knockdown, he got up and his legs were steady.
Wlad caught Fury with a flush shot, one that used to put most guys down and Fury brushed it off like it was nothing.
So, i think as long as Fury is not badly positioned to take a shot i.e squared up, he takes them very well. You never really see Fury badly rocked or on unsteady legs.
Also, obviously Wilder has a ridiculously high KO%, but it’s not like he’s knocked EVERYONE out with the first shot he’s landed. Plenty of fighters went numerous rounds and took shots. Fury never gets caught much by Wilder.
He landed it twice in the first round, and very hard, it just didnt do anything and he got hit back at 2:30ish of the first round and from there on je lost the fight.

Because of one simple thing; Feints. All the movements, place Fury right in front of you one second, and too far away the next. The better you get at feinting, the quicker your body moves, and the faster your feints are. Floyd used to look like a "now you see me, now you dont" hologram.
There’s not much variation with Wilders right hand. It’s the 1 2 down the middle. He needs to switch things up. Maybe try leading with the right. Or try throwing a looping right or maybe an overhand right.
Cuz fury is a very good boxer and wilder isn't. Wilder can't hide the right hand being lined up and fury can read it like a good professional and can react to it like a top professional.

why does Wilder seem to have trouble landing the right hand on Fury? | BoxingScene Community
