I just don’t understand how inspectors and California commissioners could drop the ball like this in a world championship fight. The rule is in between rounds you can only drink water in clear sealed bottles seeming that tgb provided the water what was being drank in the Gatorade bottle!!!!!! Inspectors and commissions one job is to protect the safety of fighters seeming that all the deaths in sport of boxing had occurred but now we have people like this that want the edge no matter who’s on the other end. I’m disgusted with the sport I love not so much with him cause his job is to try to get over but I caught it. He didn start off drinking what ever was in the bottle until about round 4 until it ended. Head trainer Dereck James never co-signed what was going on never touched that bottle that was getting passed on the sides. They crowded him it was really hard to see til I watched the fight time and time again. He can say he was drinking anything but fact is it def wasn’t water!!!! Do I want the fight over turned not at all I feel I should of beat him regardless but I’m def calling a spade a spade and the playing field just wasn’t even in a world championship fight!! What ever comes from this for me it is what it is but I’m def going to bring awareness to the world and who ever he fights next to be aware like the sport says protect YOSELF at all times they mean that literally!!Calling all fighters and trainers Let’s talk boxing tell me what you think!!"
Since this likely gets ignored, I'm making the thread.
In B4 "Harrison is just whining about Charlo using an illegal water bottle"

Good find. To me its still a non story because it is used almost everywhere now, and even with WBC its accepted with a TUE without your opponents permission unlike some blood clotting meds , but I was wrong about Cali and did not know about WBC. I'm pretty sure the other 3 allow it also.
ahhhh, good, glad this wasn't to far into the thread as I was gonna gamble and just say it regardless. But yes, while I was unaware of any specific rule changing, I have noticed soooo many Gatorade bottles in corners over the last few yrs that it was pretty much a certainty that things are changed
It is accepted in Nevada and most other places and has been for awile. I was wrong though I guess Cali is still in stone age and still only uses water. Its really a non story anyways as almost rest of country lets you use those kind of drinks. People are trying to make it out to be Pryor v AA where he says "No the one I mixed", but as we have learned P Lewis was putting asthma pills in his fighters water. That all came out when Reyes admitted not only was his gloves tampered with in the Collins fight, but he was also crushing pills into water bottle. Also both were tested right after bout.
You very well might be right. I know its been accepted in Nevada and Penn and others for quite awile now. I guess Cali and maybe WBC are still in stone age.

You have to apply to use electrolytes. It’s on the WBC form prior to the fight and both sides would be aware of it. Form is right on the WBC site (I’m on my phone or else I’d post it) both camps need to sign off on it.

As far as I know different commissions have different rules. Nevertheless if a classic opaque Gatorade bottle is seen, what limited liquids do you assume are in it, and why are there rules in general?
Well your right in Cali I guess their still in stone age and only accept water. In Nevada and Penn and most others Gatorade and the like are accepted and have been for awile.
To answer your question, no.
I would feel the same way if it wasnt Charlo. I'm not a fan of either Charlo brother, so for me, I have no bias for or against them.
And for you to bring up IV bags et al. is a strawman argument.
I'm bringing it up because there's an IV bag thread once a month and the fight was six years ago.
Okay, so a water bottle isn't a big deal. What is? An IV Bag? A needle mark? Speculation?
Here's a question, would it be worthwhile discussing this if it wasn't a Charlo?

Tony Harrison accused Jermell Charlo of wrong-doing after a non-clear Gatorade bottle was spotted in the corner in addition to a plastic water bottle. However, the California Commission cleared Charlo of any wrong-doing and tells @StevESPNKim that he only drank water https://t.co/b6BJH2kj9v— Mike Coppinger (@MikeCoppinger) February 14, 2020
For the people who hate him this won't be enough, they will continue to REACH for anything
So the commission knew about the non-clear bottle, it’s contents and ok’d it? Not sure what the test results are for. The issue isn’t ped’s.
Edit: Just read the article. Is what it is.
Crazy thing is It’s plenty of pictures of fighters using opaque Sports bottles...it’s not uncommon at all. Harrison looks terrible, like an absolute clown he needs to issue a public apology to Charlo but I bet he won’t ...
all the hate for the Charlo’s is getting kinda crazy, everybody was just ready to jump on this with no information or proof at all..ridiculous
Actually Jermell Charlo released the VADA RESULTS himself, VADA don't have the Authority to do that...

Just noticed though....The fight was on December 21st. Look at the dates of those two VADA pages...
The fact that VADA felt they had to issue a statement though means that this thread wasn't grasping at straws.

The bottom line is the officials issue the bottle of water. They need to know what's in the bottle. Assuming they did not know the fight results should be canceled and Charlo's team should be disciplined.
Gatorade is accepted now along with other juices. The days of just water ended about 10 yrs ago.

I don’t think its anything that would pop up on the banned list. Remember they need to submit blood and urine in the locker room after the fight, about 30 minutes after leaving the ring. They would easily find an adverse finding if it was something on the banned list. But remember its PBC. Thurman vs Pac didn’t have VADA testing. Both fighters agreed to this. They did regular commission testing.
We all know electrolytes pack a ton of sugar, the nature of sports drinks.
Again, I think Harrison is just saying that he too should’ve gotten a “Gatorade bottle too.”
was there VADA for this bout? or was it just the California commission?
The LDBC are morons. They are questioning if “Gatorade” is allowed. Lol. People still haven’t figured out EXACTLY what Tony has been saying. Nobody knows what was in that Gatorade bottle. He even pointed out he only used it after the 4th. Even if they were SIMPLE electrolytes which means no adverse findings since its not a banned substance, but still, as Harrison said, “an even playing field,” meaning he too wanted some electrolytes too. So in theory yes, its cheating. Athletes use electrolytes, but in boxing and in between rounds then OBVIOUSLY he’s getting a boost for either muscle cramping or soothing. Harrison even hinted that they could’ve used Coconut Juice. These are all real time advantages in competitive sports.
Few pages back I posted the WBC Championship Bout form, and there is a section for a TUE for electrolytes. That said, both camps need to sign off on it.
http://wbcboxing.com/downloads/RULES_FOR_CHAMPIONSHIP_FIGHTS_-_SYNTHESIZED_09.pdf
Both camps need to agree and sign off. But again, anything could have been in that bottle. Standard Asthma pills have a half life of 4-6 hours. How long after a fight are guys tested? Could have been ANYTHING in the bottle, because why would you risk something that you could have easily gotten signed off for?
I didn’t realize it was Harrison whom posted it! Lol. I’m like looking at “Detroit” and I thought for a second Harrison, then I look again....lol. I mean if its Harrison focusing on the video this is a real legit case which might need investigation, but as I said earlier, doubt anything will happen.
And that's why I made the thread. Some random pointing it out could have used clips from multiple fights. This is straight from Tony.
And I doubt it too.
