Distance is everything in boxing and Crawford chose to stay in the challengers wheelhouse rather than box, counter and win a decision.
Maybe it was the P4P talk before the fight and Bud wanted to make a statement, who knows?
Anyway kodos to Bud, this fan appreciated it.
This is what I like about Crawford...all the boxing skills and talent in the world, but he’s a dog. He got hit and wanted to get it back right away and impose himself on his opponent.
You could be right but "the essence of boxing" is really one man's opinion vs another man's opinion.
Somebody might say the essence of boxing is to ko your opponent, and who can say it's not?
As for Floyd, no doubt a great defensive fighter, but in order to stop his opponents offense, Floyd sometimes held 30x in a fight, how can that be "sweet"
The Guerrero performance was stink stew.
What Floyd did was the essence of the sport of boxing man.... Yes I prefer a Pacquiao vs Marquez technical offensive match but that was the point of boxing, and the scoring rewards that style of fighting. The point is to hit and not get hit.

He switched after machine was hurt looking to finish. I'm not talking about offense I'm talking about defense man.
Yes, he turned during a flurry and failed to stop him, then went nearly the entire next rd orthodox and failed to get off like he had been. His defense improved anyway even as a southpaw, like it does every fight. Crawford has always had this weakness of getting caught big at points. Literally the one weakness of his always noted. He has lapses.
The rd he fought orthtodox he was still as open to the same punches, he fights squared up but his offense is worse than when he’s a southpaw, if it were the early rds he’d be eating the same punches. Like I said, at this point he’s a better southpaw, he’s only fought his entire career mostly southpaw after all. I dunno why people think he’s still holding something back by fighting southpaw instead of orthodox.
tbf, egis was timing Crawford very well. Whenever the action slowed down, Egis got the better of it. Crawford changed his plan and it worked. Crawford has a crazy gas tank and I think he knew he'd last longer in a dog fight than Egis. It's insanely difficult to come forward and not get hit, so yeah Crawford's defense all of sudden looked like dog sh it, it's not easy.
He went orthodox in one round and managed next to nothing, barely able to get off on the inside. At this point he seems more comfortable as a southpaw.

Or maybe he got exposed? Maybe he underestimated a complete nobody. Maybe he's the new GGG? Crawford looked flat-footed out there, absolutely no head movement. Not the skill level you'd expect from a guy of Crawford's stature.
And that's fine. He still was being dumb staying southpaw when he saw he was getting hit by the right hand. Very stubborn guy. He could have switched to orthodox after getting hit by those rights in the second round. The third round never needed to happen like that if he wasnt being prideful.

Well, i think he almost had to. Kavaliauskas deserves some credit, it wasn’t just Crawford’s choice.
Kavaliauskas showed excellent timing and was able to time Crawford and hit him flush and drop him when Crawford was trying to be patient and box. It wasn’t just a case of “Crawford could’ve easily beat him from the outside” - Sometimes you just get two fighters that synch up well and the lesser skilled fighter can just time the other really well.
Crawford had to start taking the fight to him to deter him.
Impressive from Crawford that he can do that though, a lot of highly skilled boxers can come unstuck if they need to get into that kind of fight.
A lot of these casuals seemed to have missed this. Good post.

Anybody can pretend to be Fraud Moneh Mayweather running out of punching range, feinting, and pot shotting. Even everybody's god Prime Pretty Boy Fraud Joy Sinclair was getting pieced up by b-c level fighters when he tried to walk guys down. You get hit if you come forward which is why I respect Loma so much. Its hard to make a guy miss coming forward.
T Bud chose to go toe to toe. And he got hit. Would you rather him just outbox the guy from the outside.

He is without doubt the number 1 at 147. The PBC guys are smart to duck him. Bla Bla resume cry cry dont wash. Its just the PBC excuses. Hell of a fighter.

Yep, he fought mean machine’s sort of fight and beat him at it too. He could have box from the outside and win an easy decision. He went out there to truly entertain the crowd, maybe it would mean the other guys looking at him as being vulnerable now. Then they would be more respective to fighting him.
