If you say so. All those people that Lewis put on his back with a right hand and you are going to say it was overrated.
none of them were out. he's a hard hitting big man. but it's not unusual power. Ray Mercer said the same. He didn't even think Lennox hit that hard.
i'd say he punches about as hard as Luis Ortiz
he couldn't put down LHW Evander Holyfield once after 24 rounds. Bowe knocked out Holyfield as did James Toney. Tyson KDed Holyfield with a left hook too that wasn't called.

You're not being fair.... Holyfield was heavily on the defensive for most of those 24 rounds, with the exception of round 3 of their first fight.
Lennox hit Holyfield flush plenty of times with that right hand. same with that euro vegetarian dude. Mavrovich. couldn't put him down with that right.
Who exactly has Deontay put to sleep other than Stiverne?

That was before Steward fine tuned it. Afterwards he became an overall better fighter and that right hand landed with authority.

Lennox's straight right is completely overrated.
i remember him teeing off on a glass jawed Frank Bruno with his "straight right" and couldn't put him down once.

I think he is very heavy handed and has accuracy with his shots. He will hurt any HW. But he doesn't have crushing power.
Lenox straight right was harder than anything that he throws.
AJ does have a tricky short left hook that he throws that can put any fighter in trouble.

AJ's punches have heavy thudding power, which he actually executes in quick succession. He doesn't however, have Deontay Wilder put you to sleep power.

Good point Larry. The same folks who lauded AJ as the 8th Wonder of the World, would criticize the likes of Joe Calzaghe for having a lot of ref stoppages. :lol1:

He definitely has power but the ref used to jump in a lot in his early fights especially
Even with Takam, he threw a combination that missed, Takam was using head movement Iron Mike would’ve been proud of when the ref jumped in.
Charles Martin could’ve beaten that count but he just knew he couldn’t win and stayed down.
He can definitely crack though, but it’s not big one punch power like Wilder.

His power is overrated because of his image and physique, if he hits someone perfect he could probably put them out but he's not got that one punch Tommy Hearns power.
Joshua might be the most successfull manufactured HW champ of all time, his best win was against an over the hill-already beaten Vlad, but he was seen as some ATG talent by his fans. Joshua appeared at the right time, boom of social Media and a weak HW division made it a lot easier for Hearn to market his Nigerian Prince to the general British public.
