Ask yourself..
Why or how could a UFC fight on *PPV* of a main event where both fighters have a combined record of 54 wins and 24 losses be a much bigger draw?
I think it's because just about anybody who knows boxing knows that the Canelo fight is either fixed or not a real legit fight!
I think it's because the boxing world and even casuals to an extent now know that this is a farce fight with a foregone conclusion (basically a fixed fight). ..And with the UFC you know you are getting a good fight no matter what with no diva ****e and cheating with officials, etc.
I'm picking Canelo by early KO because he can't even hurt middlewieghts , so from a marketing perspective it will best help his brand (and Kovalev is just a well paid actor in this fight who is happy to do any dive).
You're missing a big point too both Nate and Masvidal have personality something star boxers used to have. Personality always sells fights. Fury is definitely doing his best to try to profit off that.
Outside of Mexico nobody knows anything about Canelo's personality let alone Kovalev's.
Yes, good point. There seems to be a lack of the emotional investment from fans that comes from getting to know about ur personality. Pac, JMM, Cotto, GGG these guys were able to connect with fans over time because they tried to learn and speak English. Some of them had instant connection. Maybe it has put a ceiling on Canelo's potential popularity over time. I her him trying every once in a while
First of all, one of the reasons why people are interested in Diaz v Masvidal is because there is an expectation that they are going to be BOXING each other - throwing hands, scrapping, boxing. Not running or looking to flop to the ground looking to escape the pocket. If their fights turns into rolling around (even with an educated crowd who knows Diaz has skills there) , expect boos to reign down.
Second, as far as I can tell, both fights are on apps. The PBC shills on this board have their angle that DAZN sucks because hey look the UFC is PPV and look how anticipated their event is - Canelo has no hype because it's on an APP - so therefore you should like the idea of 10 PBC PPVs a year. They aren't telling you it's actually "PPV via ESPN+", an app.
So - it maybe it isn't the app, or boxing itself...maybe it's Canelo and some of the smoke and mirrors people are getting tired of? I think a lot of people thought we'd get a little break from that **** once Floyd left. People wanted Canelo to be different than that SO BAD. Now that they see that maybe it's not going to be like that, well then maybe they move onto two guys with records like diaz and masvidal to make a point. They'll be out there looking to box too, the people see it as more honest I guess.

Boxing is the greatest sport in the world and these keyboard warriors need to beat themselves senseless with it until all they see is

Because words can’t describe how
Much I despise them and that they truly need to die for the sake of humanity. It is because of them that the new masculinity is femininity.
Masvidal and Diaz would be beaten to death in boxing by Duno who is fighting and should get beat by Ryan Garcia. I could care less which is more popular.
I kind of dig your attitude :skull: ... a true boxing fan
(although no one needs to die here) :theyareon
Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal speaks English for one and both are rebellious type of characters with exciting styles in the Octagon...THAT SELLS in America at least
UFC has mastered the art of match making as well as pre fight build up
While Boxing has declined greatly when it comes to all those things
Sorry but UFC Card>Boxing most of the time because Dana ad the UFC STACK Cards and really try to give fans their Money's Worth
This is kind of like a gatti vs ward fight in mma. People just know it's going to be good. They didn't have the greatest win/loss ratios but they came to fight.
Pretty much this and the card is stacked.

I think its simply a matter of the fans wanting the Diaz vs Masvidal fight & meanwhile we got some fight no one cared at all about til it got made.
Cant fake that on either side & MMA cats super into their fight & virtually no one is THAT hyped about our fight.
There is little crossover between MMA fans and Boxing fans.
No one is hyped for our fight because it buried behind an app that no one has or cares about.

It's because of DAZN.
Anyone who supports DAZN is selfish, like how can you support something that's killing boxing?
Imagine if Canelo was on FOX, Showtime, or imagine if HBO was still around. This fight would be huge

People tend to go into denial about fixed things. That's why half the electorate still votes.
Likewise, even though it's obvious, many boxing fans are in denial and always say they'll boycott the next fix. But many go back. Addiction is hard to overcome.
