I got curious about the net worth of boxers throughout history etc, and while there were some surprises, like Anthony Mundine for example, by far the most shocking entry was Michael Buffer.
He is worth $400 million dollars!!!!
More than Foreman, Oscar, both Klits, you name it, he trumps them, only Money Mayweather has more paper than Buffer.
On it's face, that's a joke, are you kidding me right now? He is pulling down $5 million a fight? That is far to much money, it's insane that networks are willing to satisfy that asking price.
But you can't knock the hustle, Buffer is a brand, a company unto himself, more a corporation than a ring announcer.
Even Floyd got punched in the face, all Buffer did was rev up crowds, and hang out with incredible women night in and night out, and now, he among the richest people in sports period, very few compare.
He might have the greatest job in the history of american labor, I challenge anyone to submit a job better then this.
He's a consummate professional and has one of the best gigs in boxing. One of the few to get rich without exploiting anyone or fighting himself. You can tell he really loves boxing too. He always seems to be intently watching the action whenever you see him in the front seats.
Wonder how much DAZN gave him for the exclusive contract... Was probably a ****load to keep him around for a while longer.
Buffer has done low profile fight announcements. I wonder how he charges..
I think Buffer is beyond cliche at this point. For the real pugilist thinking about the 1st feel out round etc...or analyzing the whole fight, Buffer's announcement sometimes feels like nothing but delaying the 1st round! lol. But he aint banking no 5mil. The OP is trolling in that hes subtextually punking Floyd. pacterds do that
An absurd post, do the research for yourself, I am a fan of Mayweather, my post has nothing to do with him, and since he is #1 all time in earnings, and mabye even in the ring, why is it a bad thing how well Buffer is doing in terms of rankings?
You guys realize he makes money outside of just announcing right? You guys in here breaking your heads trying to figure out how much he makes for each announcer job lol.
On a side note, listen to Buffer on the Hotboxin podcast with Tyson. Good listen if your stuck in traffic.
I was the co-promoter for Jones-Tarver 3 on HBO PPV, and I can personally tell you (I saw the check) that for that event he made less than 20k (split 50-50 between us and HBO) plus 2 air fares and hotel and food for 2
He was in an interview a few years back. He said that he wish he made the money that people claim that he does. But he said is well compensated for his work.
His family manages and schedules everything for him so usually he is on the go.
No question that he is an iconic figure in big boxing events.
he aint getting 5mill per fight. i read somewhere not long ago he was paid £30,000 for one fight. still a lot of money, but 5 million? i dont think so.
Idk if I buy that Buffer has THAT much money. I remember this being brought up before & there were some things brought up by others that suggest Buffer didnt do THAT well with his Lets Get Ready To Rumble copywright.
I don't think it's about us buying it, this is what is being reported by finance watchers, there is several sources saying the same thing, and who knows what this guy pulls down in terms of marketing and endorsement dollars, video games, etc.
Lmao that’s stupidly wrong!
No damn way Bob of all people would pay Buffer millions to do a 1 min or near 2 min announcement or guys like Don King back in the day pay him anywhere close that!
He’s likely touching 200K if that while the average announce likely touches 75K or less!
I won’t lie, when he does announce the fight it does give that feeling that the fight is gonna be an epic match!
Think about it.
$5m per fight?! He would be earning more than most guys he's announcing :lol1:
It's very probably not even $500k.
I'd estimate between $100k - $250k per night.
I agree with this. He comes to England quite regularly these days and I cant see Eddie giving him $5 million.
Really? How do you figure?
Think about it.

It's pretty crazy but when you think about it, he's announcing almost every other week? Floyd as an example, fights twice a year - the work adds up very quickly. I actually love listening to him talk boxing too, he doesn't get interviewed anywhere near as much as i'd like, or maybe he doesn't agree to it i'm not sure. However in all the interviews i've seen of him, he's very amicable and very knowledgeable.
Great point, it def adds up with a busy schedule, he does so many fights, that I never really examined the kind of damage he was doing, it's way beyond anything I could have imagined.

AT 74 years of age Michael Buffer's war-cry '' LETS GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLLLLLLLEEE!!! '' Can not be replicated by a man in his prime, impressive. Pay that man his monies.
I mean he's developed a great voice, he was horrible when he started though.
He also does quite a few events per year so, those numbers add up.
Him and Jimmy Lennon Jr are iconic figures and voices that are hard to erase from your brain if you are a true fight fan.
Horrible? yes he was rough around the edges when he first started, but not that bad.
He was at his height in during the late 90's.
