I almost never make threads but Im really looking forward to this fight. Ive been on the fence since it was announced but Im going to make a bold (for me) prediction. My gut tells me Gvozdyk gets the decision here, there is a possibility of a late stoppage but Im leaning 12 rounds. Who ya got?
Ive seen several say this & I mean even folks going with The Nail. I tend to think Beterbiev is gonna be a hard guy to KO & I think folks make too much of his KDs in other fights, but maybe Im a lil biased on this one cuz I was big on AB not that long ago. Kinda backed off of him with all his inactivity.
I ended up being spot on with this one eh? :boxing:
It’s a great matchup, perhaps along with next weekends WBSS final the best of the year. No result would really be surprising there’s a lot of power and potential vulnerabilities on both sides.
I’ll take Gvozdyk to box smart, use his legs a bit and get more points but have to come through a tough moment or two.
I keep bouncing back and forth...can the Nail deal with AB's power/pressure...is AB aging a bit and was that KD vs Johnson a sign of things to come...just can't really call it...my 'gut' pick changes every day lol

Why don't you get yourself over to the Pick Em, man? Kinda prediction league we run for pretty much all the major fights and some minor ones as well. Probably too late in the year for you to rank highly but it's just a bit of fun anyways.

But on topic, yeah, I've kinda flip flopped a bit on this one, but ultimately I'm leaning towards Gvozdyk using his legs to keep Beterbiev at the end of his jab for the bulk of the fight and cruise to a closeish UD, though probably not without a few hairy moments along the way.
Gvozdyk by late stoppage or clear U.D
this is the most likely outcome imo, but im going to stick with beterbiev by early-mid KO.
i find it hard to believe he will be able to eat Beterbievs flush power shots and not get KTFO/go down.
but then again the nail also has alot of power and Beterbiev doesnt have the best chin and i dont think he has the greatest gas tank, so he could also swing for the fences early, the nail could be super disiplined and not get tagged, wait for beterbiev to tire out and then take him out late.
this is almost impossibile to make a confident prection on:
any outcome can happen, with beterbiev on points probobly the least likely.
both can get dropped, both have sus chins. both have huge power.
most likely IMO is:
beterbiev by KO
The nail by TKO
The nail decision
draw
beterbiev decision.
either way i cant ****ing wait :boxing:
Beterbiev has more power and more volume ... Anyway you put it only a bad night will grant Gvozdyk the win... Should be a good one though...
King Artur by TKO Round 6 ... ;)
I'm going with Beterbiev by KO. I think he is more accurate and can deliver that power better than the older Stevenson could or Karpency who floored Gvozdyk.
Sounds like many are underestimating Gvozdyk's power, the guy punches hard. Robert Garcia said Gvozdyk is one of the hardest punchers if not the hardest puncher they trained. Also sounds like many are underestimating Beterbiev's boxing ability. This is a very good fight that is hard to predict.
Decent comparison. It is a low budget Wilder vs Fury but with Fury having the ability to actually stop an elite opponent. I think Gvozdyk is alot tougher than people realize. He all of a sudden beat a shot Stevenson and damn near killed him once it was over when mfers were talking about Stevenson one shotting him.
Stevenson nearly got him. A younger Stevenson probably would have stopped him. But he paid dearly too. Gvozdyk is a tough customer.
If it goes the distance I think Gvozdyk will get a decision, but I don't think it goes the distance. I think Beterbiev will find a way to end it. Should be a jewel of a fight. Both guys respond well after they've been hurt. No guarantees in this one.
Your pick is my #2 pick or hedge. I think this is like a lower budget Wilder vs Fury kinda fight where The Nail will be winning til the bell rings or til Beterbiev rings his bell & ends it.
So I got Beterbiev by KO as my official pick, but if The Nail has a near mistake free night I can see him by decision. And like you I also think there is late KO possibilities by The Nail.

I was just about to post similar to Eff Pandas.
I see it sort of like the Wilder Fury fight.
If the Nail can stay focused for the full 12 rounds I can see him getting a clear decision but it only takes a microsecond for Bertibiez to get that opening and knocks him out.
I'm on the fence for this one atm.
Will probably leave to last minute to decide once I see the weights and staredown.
In for a decent fight no matter.
Most Russian media has this as Gvozdyk winning by decision. Chance of Beterbiev by KO in the first 4 or 5 rounds... after which, Gvozdyk will start breaking him down.
Both guys are very hit-able and Beterbiev is a very aggressive fighter which will work well with Gvozdyk.

Gvozdyk by tko. AB is too easy to find
